I suppose that depends on whether or not they allow mixed control-type multiplayer, where some can use the Wiimote while others use the classic and GC controllers.
Actually, that raises another point; Using such a method, could it be possible to have matches with more than four combatants? There was originally room for up to six in Melee, if the debug menu is of any indication, so now it might actually be possible.

While that would be possible, the site already confirms that the game is 1-4 player. That's something that I doubt they'd edit later, or they would've waited to announce it if they intended to use more than that number. Having too many people fighting would just make battles confusing, anyway, unless you had huge stages (which would then lead to super zoom-outs). 4 is pretty much the most practical number they can go with.

Anyways, if any PW characters were to get in--I bet that the series would skyrocket in popularity (look at Fire Emblem because of Marth and Roy.) but I highly doubt any will make it. One can always hope... if they would freaking update that damn site of theirs with something other than confirmed characters from the earlier fifty thousand trailers of the game...
