No, it's not weird, I'm just pointing out that the amount of incoming info has jumped since the delay.

Also, what is everyone's opinion on the "animal crossing main character". A lot of people think he's going to be in.

I don't think the Crosser will get in, but I'm under the impression that AC will ultimately get a rep.

I had initially hoped for Resetti.

Maybe Gulliver? :P

Do people know why they guess that? because I assume it's from the sticker update... The sticker selected is an Animal Crossing one, and there's about 20% of a head you can see on the bottom-right corner of the screenshot.

Looks like Sakurai is really pulling at strings with these last few updates. Looks like he's revealed most of the stuff he planned, so now he's throwing this at us..

VIRTUAL CONSOLE DEMOS!!!!!

so we basically get to play little demos of the games that some of the smash characters originate from. Basically, in-game advetising for the virtual console

I can't wait to use this feature, and I can't wait to play the NES fire emblem even though it's a demo (which might not be in the american version of the game).

I think that if there is to be a playable AC character, the main character of the game (detailed by Sakurai, just like the stage) would be the most likely choice. The various tools from the game can simply be made into attacks, and the fishing pole could even be used for tether recovery.

Aside from the whole theory that every game series with an icon must have a playable representative, some believe that since just about all of the other useful fight-worthy characters are used in the Smashville stage or otherwise (Tom Nook, K. K. Slider, Mr. Resetti, etc), the actual "crosser" is the only one left.

The actual "Crosser" is also in the background of the stage. Lots of times. This doesn't deconfirm him/her, per sé, but I kind of doubt an Animal Crossing PC will actually get in, because all newcomers were first shown THEMSELVES, and then afterwards their stage. Not vice versa.

Anyway, on BrawlCentral there's some info from the famitsu booklet - it seems like Dedede's forward smash kan KO Mario at 17%. Cool stuff :p

There's a DS icon though, so that pretty much kills that theory of every icon has a playable character...

Except there is more than one "Crosser", unlike the other characters, who are always the same people. The "Crosser" is the only unique individual in each town, so seeing one or two in the background could be looked at as seeing individuals from other towns coming to Smashville to watch the fights. As such, the "Crosser" unique to Smashville could easily get involved with others of his kind in the background. Of course, that isn't to say that there will definately be an AC rep, just that it isn't as impossible as it seems.

While that is true for the currently announced characters, almost all of which are starters, we don't know if that holds true for hidden characters. For example, Ness's stage, Onett, was shown a while ago, but he has yet to be announced on the site, despite the leak last week. It could work in such a way for the other non-starter characters as well, newcomers or otherwise.

The DS isn't a game icon, it's a system, which is probably used to group together the several ATs, items and stage(s) that fall under the DS but don't have individual series representation in Smash Bros. A large grouping of sorts, basically. It's the only icon of its kind (aside from the Smash icon, though that's used for NPCs like the Wire Frames and Alloys) and likely the exception to the theory.

Random thought, what if the town actually changes the more people are playing Smash Bros.?.....

Ignore that, it's a dumb idea.

Anyways, for VCDs? Great idea, IMO, I wanna play a demo of Star Fox 64 again!!! That was the LAST Star Fox game I liked (as it was the last one that allowed you to have different "paths"...

Same, I loved the 64 version. Kicked me in the balls difficult but I still loved it.
I just hope we get a real demo of Brawl sooner or later since that rumor went around about getting a demo 5 days before release.

The only DS thing that has been announced is the Pictochat level, and probably will be that. I hold to my theory that if there's an icon, we're to get EITHER a level or a character - as we've seen in the movies, levels show an icon too before starting (just like in Melee), so they need one, and of course, so do characters. An icon is representative of either a level or a character, but not necessarily of both or one.

I estimated Brawl's speed to be 1.5 times the speed of Melee. That's why the characters are moving so fast.
So a great way to get used to the speed would be to play Melee on 1.5 times the speed.

It doesn't seem to be the attacks themselves that got much faster, but the lag time between them. For example, Bowser's attacks had some large start/end time in Melee, but here he can move from one attack to another fairly quickly. Charizrd probably benifits from that, too.

RufusLLS wrote:

Not surprising, considering Charizard can KO Mario at 103% with its Up-B. I remember reading that it was a davastating attack, too.

A better way to "get used to" the speed is to simply wait and play the game. Brawl just looks to be different enough from Melee that training on it simply wouldn't be enough to prepare you for the gameplay and engine changes.

Looks aren't everything.
The bare basis is that it's Melee, with a bit more. The controls are exactly the same. The only difference is speed and items. It was suggestion, sheesh.

If you want to wait for the game, whatever.

Not to mention physics changes. Character weights have been modified, air resistance has been modified, attack mechanics (as we've discussed) have been modifieid, and these are very major changes, however subtle.

I was thinking a while back, what makes the Smash series truly great, you know? I mean, each series brings to the table, different things that some may have wanted, some might've never expected, and some that we simply want to remain the same. I have composed my own "opinion" below. It's a long post though, just to warn you!

Spoiler: Super Smash Bros.
Super Smash Bros. brought Multiplayer Fighting to the forefront of the N64 in terms of its new fighting system, different than most other games at the time. Also, it introduced hidden unlockables, making them ONLY unlockable upon completing TASKS rather than simply winning battles. (Ness was also unknown to anyone who never played SNES' Earthbound... scary.)

Super Smash Bros. Melee, on the Nintendo Gamecube, captivated audiences worldwide with it's (at THAT time, and still now) great graphical upgrade, special extra moves (Smash attacks), and many other unlockables, such as new Characters, and stages, as well as special modes it had, such as Event matches, Sandbag mode, etc.

Melee also introduced the idea of Trophy Collecting, a solid "Adventure" mode, an "All-Star" mode, and many other things such as "bonus" collecting (leading to a trophy upon getting them all).

But one of the best aspects of the game, was its Multiplayer. It's still widely used for competitive gamers to test their might against one another, in the category of a "fighting" game.

Now, Melee was on the "top 10 best rentals" chart for the Gamecube for over 60 weeks, in Nintendo power. What was the main way to capitalize on its success? What was the BEST way to get the people to want this game?

Enter Super Smash Bros.: Brawl. There were many things that the creators chose to use in order to make this better than any other Smash Bros. game from the past years. ONE of the ways was, naturally, making it Online-accessible, via Nintendo Wi-Fi. They made a 2-player Story-Mode, and they even made special "events" that 2 players can do ONLY!

Another way was to capitalize on the success of past games, and that was a simple matter to attend to: Bring in many more characters, more levels, more events, and MANY more options.

They also changed certain "boring" aspects, to make them more exciting. One stellar example is trophies. A new trophy-collection mode, as well as stickers to collect, bring out the collector in us all. They even made a Challenge-Mode, for those who want to test their skills. They added more Pokemon, and they even included "Assist Trophies", which provide help (usually) as well as allow the viewers to see certain characters from games they may not know, or ones from games from their past (Little Mac!). In terms of the characters themselves, they changed their abilities and status' to suit them (Heavy characters move slow, powerful ones attack with loads of force, etc.)

One of the greatest additions, however, is a story-mode with an actual STORY! Of course, this is, The Subspace Emissary. One of the already released aspects of it is that choices affect the story (first boss fight) which is a first for a series with a normally relatively linear storyline. Keeping this in mind, Boss battles are ALSO something new that is brought to the table! Another thing we can't forget, are Final Smashes: Considered "finishing moves" for the characters. Some are extremely powerful, with high consequences (Samus). Others

Updated for the graphics freak, Updated for the collection freak, and given an upgraded "Multiplayer" system with Online capabilities. Organized properly, this could very well be the game that could assist Nintendo in possible dominance over the video game market... Naturally, that is simply my opinion, however. :gymshoe:

Now if only they'd stop pushing the release date BACK...

1)A nice pic of Final Destination was brought to light, I just hope the music is going to as epic as it was in Melee.

2)We actually may get some Brawl demos soon at our local Gamestop!! *sqeee* Maybe as soon as next week, I work at a Gamestop so I'll let you all know since that Mario Galaxy demo is getting stale.

Of course. I assume that most characters, even the secret ones, will be in the opening "cinematic", since that is usually how it goes. (Ganondorf was in Melee's cinematic, for example...)
