Man I'll second that XD
Smash bros portable?! It's....so...awesome =D

Also I'd seriously heard the FFV project had been fully scrapped. Technical difficulties don't really explain it when they had done good voice acting and 3D rendering (albeit chibi) of models in FFIV.

I was under the impression that the FFV/FFVI remakes were one of those "we might like to do it someday" comments that got picked up and spread around the news sites. Maybe way down the line, but nothing's in progress right now, I don't think.

Quote:
where's the source for the FFV and FFVI 3DS remake rumor?

I don't have a source, but it's been confirmed by them that they had plans of remaking both titles, but due to technical difficulties, they couldn't.

Quote:
Smash bros portable?!

They also said something along the lines of "leveling-up your characters", seeing as how the game will be focused on customization (the 3DS version).

Quote:

FF4 =/= FF5/6

Compared to FFs 5 and 6, 4 is shorter than those (not counting the GBA enhanced-port content, which wasn't present in the DS remake). Even though FF5 is a bit longer, you have to consider that every character has different costumes, so they'd have to make 3D-renders of every character wearing different jobs (Warrior, Monk, W. Mage, etc.). Besides that, there's voice-acting, as since Square Enix doesn't disappoint us, extra content. Take all that in consideration, and you may encounter technical difficulties (or more like technical limitations).

Now FF6; like FF5, it's longer, they'd have to fully render every character, enemy, summons, spells, all those kinds of things.

Quote:

Believe me, it'll be time before Square Enix announce they're remaking FFs 5 and 6, seeing as how they're in a financial crisis and are willing to milk everything they can (heck, it was even rumored that a FF6/7 remake was going to be a PlayStation Vita launch title).

Lets take this FF5/6 discussion to the FF topic, feels weird jumping back and fourth.

And I'm not above levelling up characters, actually liked the sticker systems and equipment from the Subspace emissary so it'd be cool.

Any links to the article?

So to recap:

3DS: Yes it's insanely pretty
Yes it's library is limited now
BUT it's getting a lot of great additions with time it's still a rookie console.

Yes it DOES bend reality and freak out some of your friends.
Yes it may mess with your head a little but only initially as your eyes adjust or if you use the 3D while moving.

Yes you should buy Ocarina of Time and Samurai Warriors and not SSFIV because it's a terrible excuse for a fighting game.

Yes there may be some subjectivity in the previous statement.

Conclusion:
3DS: Yes

About the dizziness and eye-hurting issues; that's very personal, not everyone is affected by it. If you are, then tune the 3D down. Some people (such as I) can view the 3D at full capacity with no problems. But about the angling, it's simple and isn't bothersome.

What I would say it that you shouldn't have 3D on for too long just in case though.

Thats what's recommended of all games though. Technically we're supposed to stop every hour or half hour for a bit...for any game.

I'm planning to buy Resident Evil Mercenaries and OoT

I have a 3DS as well. I have Ocarina of Time 3D and Super Street Fighter 4... although recently I've been playing Professor Layton: Unwound Future (Which I finally completed :redd:).
All of them are great games, but I can't wait for the new games that will come out like MGS Snake Eater 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Luigi's Mansion 2, and Animal Crossing!

I've been hearing bad things about the RE game just released, something about it being more like an arcade-esque game and you can't delete your savefile.

About this...
I think it's a ridiculous claim, can't you delete all data from the data management system on the 3DS?
I doubt it saves to the card itself so if bought second hand it would be a fine new game.

Though Resident Evil the mercenaries....I wouldn't say it's 'arcadeesque' nature is bad...I'd say it's exactly what's expected, they didn't promise story or anything. It's always been a minigame so expect a fleshed out action minigame.

If you liked The Mercenaries or really liked the combat in RE4 and 5 get it otherwise I wouldn't expect you to get much out of it.

I dunno what Capcom did, but they said they programmed the game so it's savedata couldn't be deleted. But there IS a legal way to delete it; you have to buy a USB-esque device that transfers your 3/DS savedata from it to computer and you can delete it.

Yeah simple enough, I've already used that device to transfer my data to a new SD card.
Though again....since Data is saved to the SD card it's only bad in the case of wanting to start a new game on your own 3DS...which doesn't really seem proper or necessary for the mercenaries, as if loaning to someone or returning to the shop it'll just get data from another SD card.

No big deal.

Just played my new 3DS.

MY EYES HURT SO FREAKING MUCH AND I'VE ONLY PLAYED IT FOR LIKE 5 MINUTES. I'll have to be REALLY careful about using it if I don't want my sight to become really bad, I'm already short-sighted.

My eyes are quite sensitive and if you're eyes are hurting after only 5 minutes, I'm afraid mine will too. I hope the 3ds isn't too much for me to handle.

This. Agreed completely.
If the first 3DS game you have has all the colors o rainbow in it,
then don't push it. Just use it occasionally.
Or...Just go how it feels for ya.

BTW...Anyone noticed how the game speeds up when you take 3D effect off in some game(s)?
Personally I haven't tried this with others that DOA Dimensions.
It's actually kinda interesting. :D

I read/watched some reviews, and it seems RE:M isn't worth the 40$
they say it's fun, and addictive, but it should come free with RE:R

And then watched some videos of OoT, and got hyped as fuck.
Remembered how great it was the first time I played, so I guess I'll be buying OoT

You should, but this game is mainly about "nostalgia goggles". Don't expect anything besides updated graphics, some updated tracks, updated gameplay, and a couple of bonuses. Some fans were expecting the Light Temple and an unfrozen Zora's Domain. But for everything (including the awesome 3D), it's worth the investment (and besides being a first "major" 3DS game).

The 3D effect makes Hyrule look bigger and more in-depth (like it does with every other game).

I just downloaded a N64 emulator instead. Sure, the 3DS graphics are a little better, but not enough to warrant me spending £200.

If Wright v Layton gets an english release, then we'll see.

Junpei? As in; Junpei Iori from Shin Megami Tensie Persona 3/Fes/Portable? Stupei? If you're referring to another re-release of P3 (for the 3DS), then don't. P3 has been re-released too many times already, and a 3D effect isn't enough to make people re-buy it (because I can't see them adding anything else ((unless they include the other chapter Fes had))).

I have 4 games currently:

Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
Samurai Warriors Chronicles
Ridge Racer 3D
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

Just as a heads up, the free Soundtrack Offer only applied to those who registered their copy of Ocarina of Time via Club Nintendo before June 30 as it was a limited time offer. I bought and regisitered OoT on launch day (because I don't like to waste time lol) and got the Soundtrack CD in the mail July 11. You're free to register the game now but you won't be getting the the Soundtrack CD. The Soundtrack will be available for purchase in North America later this year, though.

Getting back on topic, OoT: 3D was one of the four games I bought the 3DS for. The other three games I'm anxiously awaiting are Tales of the Abyss, Kid Icarus Uprising and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D. Aside from those, the 3DS eShop has been an overwhelming disappointment. The app I use the most is Netflix (duh), which IMO is a freaking godsend ^_^

The best part is starting an Anime on my Wii and finishing it on my 3DS somewhere else =D

Overall I've been disappointed Nintendo is once again making its North American fans wait for anything good. Both on the 3DS as well as on the Wii. They even let Sony and Microsoft emulate their motion control concept and aren't even trying to work their usual magic to keep their fanbase interested. As a result of this, the 3DS will be the last Nintendo System I buy. I don't like feeling like I'm not getting full satisfaction with a purchase especially video games and thus I can no longer justify supporting Nintendo financially.

To me Nintendo just hasn't been trying in recent years to keep me interested. I'm talking in terms of first and second party games, not games from 3rd party companies. Hell, three quarters of my 3DS games are third party lol. Of the upcoming 3DS games I'm looking forward to, only one is first party (Kid Icarus).

...oh and of course I will be getting the 3DS versions of Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros ^_^

I actually got OoT3D as a present and I don't even have a 3DS yet. XD I'm of course waiting for good games to come out. I don't get how Kid Icarus Rising was like one of the first 3DS games announced and it didn't end up being anywhere close to being a launch title. T_T By the time good games are out, there might be a new 3DS with longer battery life and such and I'll sure snatch that up.

Not to ruin anyone's excitement of the 3DS, but I'm more interested in the Wii U (and the Playstation Vita).

I've been hearing that there's been quite a high amount of games cancelled for 3DS, and I don't really see anything that I truly like playing (except for maybe Shinobi...But even THAT looks like a bad sequel :( )
