I unlocked JJF in Hard Rock yesterday. It took me about a week to beat JJF on Sweatin'. But I've still only passed it once.
I still don't have all the little * for all the levels, so I'll try to see if I can get Mr. X.

You do NOT need all Star ranks to get Khan. He unlocks once you finish every song (including Believe, ABC, and Survivor) on every difficulty including the early ones.
I should know, I've still got one or two songs without a * on them.

It took me two days, but I can play as Commander Kahn now. The ending picture is nice too. Now to work on getting an "S" rank. I've been too focused on finishing the game and I need to go back and improve my scores on the previous levels.

Unfortunately the DS cannot register two different touches on different parts of the touch screen at the same time. Try it with your thumbs on Pictochat. If you touch both edges of the drawing area at the same time, it will register as a single touch in between the two and make a dot in the middle.

Yeah, I'm hoping that there'll be a release of the covers used in EBA, since I listened to the original JJF and it just doesn't seem to have the same impact. Maybe it's the choice of instruments or something. The original version doesn't seem to be the kind of song one would fight off alien invaders with.
Other than that, for certain songs (Canned Heat and Sk8er Boi among them), I really couldn't tell the difference.

As for songs I would personnally like to see, I have a few suggestions, along with accompanying stories.
"Here it Goes Again" - OkGo - A perfect opening song. We once more met the girl we net at the beginning of the first game. Babysitting, she uses her license to transport the little rascals around town. He has less then a few minutes to drop off the kids, then go see her boyfriend play the final game of the season. If she doesn't make it in time, then the boyfriend will lose the game (or something like that)
Good End - She makes it in time, and sees Don win the game.
Medium End - A little late, game ties.
Bad End - Car breaks down, misses game completely.
"Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" - James Brown - Middle aged father. He imply wants the best for his two teenage children, by they are disgusted by his very presence. The dad decides that the only way to win back the kids is to win a local skate boarding competition. He will have to best the best boarder at the park (who bears a striking resemblance to Tony Hawk) to ultimately win the competition.
Good End - Wins competition, and approval of kids
Medium End - A narrow loss, kids gain some respect for him.
Bad End - Dad ends up hurting himself, and kids are shamed completely.
Jerk it Out - The Caesars - Lonely nerd. He needs the confidence win the girl of his dreams. He'll try multiple ways of getting her attention, and the final climactic scene ends with him finally asking to dance with the girl.
Good End - Nerd is an awesome dancer, and rides off into sunset, with the girl.
Medium End - Ends up embarrassing himself, but the girl gives him a peck on the cheek. She walks off.
Bad End - Girl thinks he's a creep. With a slap, she storms off.
For the final Songs -
"Holding Out For a Hero" - Bonnie Tyler - Replace "Without a Fight," and there you go.
"Livin' La Vida Loca" - Ricky Martin - Something big starts to destroy the Earth, and the Agents must use the power of song and dance to use the Earth-doken once more to defeat the imposing menace. Maybe a giant women crushing cities?
