You never know. That could be one reason for holding the game back over here. And there are downloadable stages, I don't think characters would be to much of a stretch. And I don't think they would just leave unused data on the disc (taking up space on an already well loaded disc) for no reason.
*grabs fedora* In my mind I would have to call this a plausible. I wonder what Wrestle Hyneman has to say about this.

Not outside of the Virtual Console and Channels (patching), but the infrastructure is already in place on the Wii Shop Channel for patching games. If it needed to be streamlined, the Wii Shop Channel could simply be updated again - it's already been renovated once.

Does we even do these things anymore?

If there was ever a game to do something like this with it would be brawl. This is a game that everybody and their brother will be playing, slip this in and everyone will be talking about how awesome it is. Then other gaming companies will see the success from this type of move and start putting stuff like this into other games. It's logical, the evidence seems to support it, and if I can trust my instinct, this is something that the team working on Brawl would try to add. Imagine the surprise people would get when extra characters start popping up out of nowhere.
"But I saw the list! He wasn't there!" SURPRISE! It's just something that could make an already awesome game even more awesome if it is true.

Ah, but evidence doesn't always lead to a straightforward answer. Just because something appears to be a certain way doesn't mean it actually is. As for other companies, I really don't think they'd do DLC on the Wii just because Nintendo did it. Aside from the Wii not having a good amount of internal storage capacity, the other consoles are much more suited for it.

While the "Forbidden 7" (honestly, who gave this such a corny name?) may have some truth to it, the only ones with any credit beyond just a name are Roy and Mewtwo. Victory music, a classic mode screen, these things at least give them some additional leverage as possible fourthcoming additions. The "purchase" music found helps as well.

There are some other complications to this, however. The primary issue is fitting them onto the character select screen. Since there isn't room for another row, it's possible to put them into new columns on either side. Either way, though, it would throw off the symmetry of the series-in-colums angle. Other than that, it's the issue of shoehorning them into a rather well-balanced bunch of characters and making it worthwhile, but that's something else entirely.

To be honest, I really don't see the point of having downloadable characters when they had more than enough time to put them into the game before development ended. I think the folders and sounds were probably leftover material that either didn't make the final cut or was removed for one reason or another. Hackers find unused fragments and test areas in other games all the time, but that doesn't automatically mean those games will get DLC. I'm not saying it won't happen, just that ir isn't set in stone.

If Nintendo makes DLCs, it'll simply up the interest of the game.

People will be hopeful of their favorite characters "making the cut" for being new characters.

And the "MEGAMAN PLZKTHNX!" Would begin again...

Today's updates are a not one but two sets of special moves: Zelda and the Ice Climbers. Zelda's set doesn't make mention of her Transformation or Sheik's abilities just yet, while the Ice Climbers article takes special pains to highlight Nana's importance.

I'd be inclined to say that the only character that would be nice coming back would be Mewtwo. He's the only one not a clone. Then again, if "Toon Sheik" ends up being Tetra, I'm all for it!

But with Nana...

The attacks have a much higher chance of impact! Also, you can now score multiple hits!

Naturally, this CAN be reflected, which could cause an issue. However, with NANA also doing it...

It is impossible to be hit with a deflection. One will simply hit the other one, cancelling each other out!!!

Side-Special: SQUALL HAMMER!

TWIRL!!!

But with Two?

You Spin Us Right 'Round...

Constantly tapping the Special Move button also levitates you slightly. A medium-recovery move. Kind've like the Morph Bombs of Samus...

Up-Special: BELAY!

I CAN FLY!

Yep! One of the most hated moves in the game makes its return!

Basically, You survive, Nana dies. Pretty simple concept.

Lucario does seem similar to Mewtwo in some respects, but he is obviously different. However, the base for the character may have been Mewtwo. The similarities do exist and are not fully contrived. However, as I said, and agreeing with Tinker, he is far from clone material.

On another clone note, I'm actually half-tempted to tone down on calling Wolf or Falco clones, at least to an extent. They may be equipped similarly, but their styles and moves still vary in more than colour or appearance... A good example is Falco's reflect - from what I've seen, he throws it like a boomerang in contrast to Fox's just holding it like a normal shield. Wolf, I am not too sure, but he seems to have is differences as well.

At least with Apollo Justice you can just import it without having to buy imported hardware as well just to dodge the ridiculous release date. I don't think we ever got WarioWare Twisted!, although it's still scheduled for release eventually; the cartridge is still undergoing EU quality checks to allow it to be sold on this continent. The US version of the cart has a tilt sensor that relies on mercury, which is illegal in the EU because of the fact that prolonged exposure to mercury causes mental illness and death. By the time they're done, the game won't be worth releasing. It's EU quality checks as well as translation problems that delay the games for so long, but the upside of that is the carts we get are guaranteed safe for use.

Tonight marks the sad end of Smash 101's updates, and I'll be damned if it isn't a real "downer" ending. Yup, Meteor Smashes - commonly known as spikes - are covered in today's update, along with Bowser's special moves, which interestingly enough also play with gravity. Can you say NUCLEAR SUPLEX RAPE TIME?
