So what if he isn't, neither is Pit from "Kid Icarus" or Ike from "Fire Emblem", but they were still in SSBB so why can't Wright be added as well since he is still part of Nintendo. Megaman and Sonic are so played out so thats why it would be dumb to even put them in the game plus Sonic was in SSBB.

First off, Fire Emblem isn't just some no-name franchise, especially after it was promoted in the US through Melee. Ike was included because he's the main character from the GCN FE games. Second, Pit's inclusion was likely an attempt to return the Kid Icarus series to mainstream status, so it's not like Nintendo included him just to fill up roster space. Clearly Kid Icarus: Uprising shows that worked.

Fool Bright wrote:
Even if the majority are IPs from Nintendo it still doesn't matter if they would add Wright. Even if he belongs to Capcom it shouldn't be an excuse not to have him in Smash. Just look at Sonic and Snake, they aren't part of nintendo but they still were added in SSBB.

He was already used as a fighter in UMvC3, a game which never made it to a Nintendo console, so I doubt Nintendo would want to follow in the footsteps of another company and simply copy him over. Also, all evidence points to there being only one playable character per third party inclusion, so therefore Megaman is likely to be the only Capcom rep. The most you could probably hope for would probably be a trophy, or even an assist at best.

Huh hadn't considered that, perhaps Patulena is an assist now.

Though does this mean they'll change Pit's final smash? Or god forbid they'll be identical if Patulena is the same.

As for Ike, he's cool and all but I imagine he'll be cycled out. I've heard conflicting reports that "We're losing no characters" and "We're cutting back" for this game so who knows but I imagine they'll keep it 2 FE representatives and Marth (grrr) always has a slot.

As for UMVC3, sadly I was one of the suckers who bought both, least I traded in my original for it. I just really wanted to show my support for Phoenix Wright...then we ended up getting AA6 so a worthwhile purchase I suppose.

It doesn't sound impossible considering she had a prominent role in Uprising, or so I've been led to believe. Although I don't see why Pit's final smash should be changed because of that, in Brawl she just appears in the background. Of course he might've picked up some new tricks since Uprising.

Didn't Mr. Sakurai say something about wanting three Fire Emblem representatives? I may just be imagining things, but considering Awakening's success, it wouldn't surprise me.

Now, about that Ganondorf buff...

I doubt Capcom would think somebody bought UMvC3 for the sole sake of Phoenix. Granted, Phoenix was the reason I first thought of buying the game, but I decided to not buy the game and am quite glad that I didn't.

I'm not really objecting to the idea of Palutena in Smash Bros (in fact, I'm still hoping she's in the game). But the idea that a leak on such a big title happened is a bit.... strange. This Waluigi mock-up is also making me skeptical of the whole "leak".

TAC's aren't even that damaging, and they're rarely used in high level play since all it does is reset hitstun and gives/takes away meter. I get blown up all the time by the button mashers who always get me by doing stupid stuff. I'm so used to playing against my friend, who's also pretty good, that when I fight against others my usual rushdown tactics don't exactly work against the random hypers.

Sakurai says that this time his aura is stronger, so he'll do even more damage than before. Though I wonder if his final smash will be changed to his mega form from X/Y.

A certain friend of mine will certainly be happy.

I wonder if we'll get Mewtwo and/or Zoroark, too.

Part of me would like Mega Lucario to be his final smash, but another part of me is hesitant... I wouldn't want it to just be a powered-up Lucario. I think the "you're the exact same character, but more powerful!" final smashes are boring.

I suppose they could have it both ways - have him transform into Mega Lucario, and either have the option to do the old FS in that form or automatically do it to finish it off before transforming back.

Aye, I agree. While I like playing Lucario, I miss Mewtwo's teleportation. That, and I'm blinded by my nostalgia; I mean, Mewtwo was the first real legendary! It's the ultimate badass!

I knew it! Lucario being back is awesome. You know, I figured that since some of the characters, that made their debut in Brawl, have been confirmed to be in this game, I figured that Lucario was bound to be confirmed to be in this game at some point. And I was right about that.

For me, it's less nostalgia, but just pure recognisability and fame. Besides, with X/Y out, you'd think that they would have Mewtwo in Smash...

Not quite as interesting as a new character announcement I'll admit but hey it's some great handdrawn animation.

Mother Brain from the Metroid series is our newest Assist Trophy, and quite a big one at that:

Image

She's protected by Rinkas and armed with a laser attack, so I guess she's kind of like a stationary turret that blocks the way. Could be useful in close quarters. Also, I wonder if she'll be extra vulnerable to being hit by the iceberg item.

XP A turret that size could be a real problem on the battlefield. Then again considering the fact that you can't 'save' an Assist Trophy, it's used the second you pick it up. There's no real way to use them tactically anyway. It's a nice touch mind.

ARE YOU MAD? TAC's are an incredible option to prolong combo's and nullify hitstun. Meaning you can either go for a reset or risk a TAC counter, but landing a TAC in the right hands means you can kill a character if you've got the right skills. Not to mention that a TAC is a great way to get Phoenix into turnabout mode!

I play characters which I like, meaning I play Phoenix, Dante and Zero. Not the best of team synergy, but it gets the job done. Don't blame the broken characters in this game, in a way 75% of the cast is broken, it's just a way that's very unkind to less skilled players.

That's my point. TAC's are only viable in the hands of people who know what they're doing, and the people that we're talking about are the ones who mash Special while in the air. I've never played against anyone who's used TAC's effectively, but I know just how broken they can be.

Little Mac from the Punch-Out!! series has been announced as a playable character in today's Nintendo Direct.

Image

Image

Image

He has a unique mechanic with the charge meter from Super Punch-Out!! that seems to let him do special attacks, and his Final Smash appears to let him turn into Giga Mac from the Wii version's multiplayer mode.

I never really thought he would've made a good fighter, but his recent outing on the Wii and especially this new trailer has swayed me somewhat. I'd like to see more of him first before making a final decision, though.

I've never actually played "Punch-Out!!" so I don't have much of an opinion on this yet, but from what little I've seen on Super Smash Bros. forums, he has been one of the most requested characters, along with K. Rool.

While he ran, did he dodge attacks without breaking momentum?
