Well, some of the ones that can't be hammered are truly difficult, like beating Boss Battles and Classic on intense difficulty. Thankfully with Classic you have multiple lives and (harshly expensive) continues to fall back on, which really helps soften the challenge, but Boss Battles? Heh, that's going to be quite a ride for the diehard fans.

So... Boss Battles must be completed... I was hoping that wasn't the case (All Star mode, you can use Continues, so... yeah)
Luckily, I'm "Training" to kill off each boss easily... So I might as well post a few strategies... These will ALL apply to Fox, however, Or anyone with a Long-Range weapon that fires quickly. Fox and Falco are best. Yes, I wasn't using Samus... she didn't get as far as Fox did, so I switched them.
And just so you know, no. I have NOT beaten Boss Battle on Intense yet.
1. Petey:
I actually found a way to make this so easy, it's ridiculous. I'll use pictures to explain, which were taken off of Youtube:
At the very start, run to the far side of the stage, and keep using your Long Distance Weapon against Petey. This way, he can't hit you with the cages. If this is NOT the first round, jump to escape: He'll swing quickly, and you might be caught off guard.
When he makes...
THIS pose...
Stop firing, and watch where he goes. If it's towards you (It probably WILL be), run very, very quickly to the other side. If your character is slow, use the "Dodge" button to escape, if you can't run fast enough.
Now, at THIS point, he'll be on the LEFT side, or RIGHT, and will NEVER go to the middle of the stage again. You must go to the opposite area, but you can't go too far to the side, since you MAY not be able to run fast enough when he jumps to you next. Here's the CLOSEST you can be to him, so you can escape easily, AND fire quickly:
It is 100% accurate. I tested it myself. As long as you're still on those white lines, you'll be fine, and safely out of his reach. Just keep firing until Petey is dead. You shouldn't take ANY damage from him.
2. Pokey.
When you see him in Intense mode, you'll get pissed... a lot.
He's nigh on impossible to beat without you taking damage. Heck, if you face him FIRST, he's fully able to kill you. This makes him the Second-Hardest boss in Boss Battle.
His "Rush" attack is MUUUUUCH faster. If you start off the match attacking him, he'll probably try to do that move first. Or he'll go into "Fury" mode, where the eyes will glow red and he'll follow you for a while, not really doing any MOVES...
But those are easy to dodge. Heck, if you can, while he's in Fury mode, try jumping on him and staying there, repeatedly assaulting him with Smash Attacks until his eyes turn green again. You'll take off a LOOOOOOOOT of his HP.
However, there's ONE attack that you'll get from him, that will be the biggest pain in the a$$ in this mode:
When he does THIS:
Try Shielding or Dodging as much as you can. If you're REALLY lucky, you'll not get hurt much. If you're REEEEEEEEEEEALLY Lucky and Skilled, you might even be able to avoid it enough to not take any damage. Fire your gun at him a LOT in this round. He's slow in his normal state, so you can probably take out a lot of HP from him this way.
If you don't care what happens, just run up close to him in Normal Status, Duck low, and Repeatedly whack him. In normal Status, he can't hit you directly. He CAN use the "Multi-Leg" hit... but if you're small enough, it'll completely miss you.
The remaining moves need no real explanation, since everyone knows how to deal with them: Dodge the above-Laser, Run like hell when he jumps and tries to crush you, and when the bombs are loose... just try jumping really high to avoid them. That usually works out well.

I wish they had made Sonic have better colors to choose from. I wanted to play as an actual green Sonic. Like Scourge from the comics. He was Sonic's evil double after touching the master emerald.
