I find that when getting error codes like that, doing a soft reset (resetting from the Home menu) usually clears it. If that doesn't work, try restarting your router and/or internet connection.

Edit: Concerning yesterday's update, I have yet to complete 30 hours of brawls, and I have yet to use a Golden Hammer...
They state that to get the Party Ball trophy, you need 500 hours of brawls. However, my "Galleom Tank" image has a party ball in the background... I'll look up how to get it.

Some SSB fans may have wanted additional features in the game. (e.g. Extra Characters, Extra Items, Extra Assist Trophies, Extra Bosses)
The Orange Star Army from Advance Wars was an Assist Trophy, but if that's the case, Nintendo could have had one of the following characters as a playable character:
Andy (Advance Wars 1 and 2)
Rachel (Advance Wars: Dual Strike)
Jake (Advace Wars: Dual Strike)
Will/Ed (Advance Wars: Days of Ruin / Dark Conflict)
And also, Derek Stiles, Naomi Kimishima, Markus Vaughn or Valerie Blaylock could be an Assist Trophy that heals the player who summons to by 5% per second until your damage rate reaches 20%!
But...
...I'm not done!
I also wish Klavier Gavin was an Assist Trophy too! He could use his guitar and shoot notes in multiple directions. Each note adds 3% to the opponents' damage rates, and at the end of his guitar riff, his guitar lets out one more note creating a radius blow surrounding his body. If any opponents are near Klavier, 50% will be added on their damage rates and they will be sent flying! It's pretty much Donkey Kong's and Jigglypuff's Final Smashes fused together, only weaker!
As for the rest of the Phoenix Wright cast, they could all be Trophies!
Now, any more suggestions?

), as well as playable Ridley and Megaman.As for items, I'd bring back the Red Shell that's strangely absent from this version of SSB and the Parasol. Also, I'd include the Pokeball Pokemon from melee that got cut from this game (with the obvious exceptions of Venusaur, Charizard amd Blastoise since they got cut due to Pokemon Trainer appearing in this game).
I'd have a Tetris-based AT (tetris blocks rain down on all opposing players). [And as a joke, have
as an AT going round trying to raep everyone - /joke]I'd also have the Saffron City and the Hyrule Castle stages from the N64 Smash Bros available to play on.
But do you know what the best additional feature would be: An European Release Date.

-Geno (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars) - One of the most famous characters in the Mario fandom, even though he's only in one or two games, but he is incredibly powerful in his own right.
-Kevin (Kid Chameleon) - A kid who can transform into several alter-egos by putting on any one of the masks at his disposal. I think he would make a great addition.
-Paula (Earthbound) - instead of Lucas, but the exact same play style.
-Black Shadow (F-Zero Series) - Why is Captain Falcon STILL the only playable character from F-Zero when his nemesis, Black Shadow, is Brawl-worthy!?
-Zoda (F-Zero Series) - A Biologically-altered human who is getting a constant adrenaline rush from the appendage on his head. Why shouldn't this madman enter Brawl?
-Godot (Phoenix Wright) - The fragrance of Dark Coffee himself. Why shouldn't he have at least a chance in Brawl?
-Phoenix Wright (Phoenix Wright) - The main character of the entire first part of the franchise, he deserves a chance.
Assist Trophies:
-Jonothan Jones (Super Mario RPG) - Combined Valor Up attack and his extendable trident? A better assist trophy idea I have never seen.
-Bowyer (Super Mario RPG) - Has the ability to lock all opponents from using either A or B attacks in battle. That could be interesting, yeah?
-Mallow (Super Mario RPG) - An assist trophy that can control the weather? I say I am all for it.
-Shishkaboss (Kid Chameleon) - If you've played Kid Chameleon and got to this boss, you'd understand why.
-Apple Kid (Earthbound) - With all the seemingly useless inventions he makes, I wouldn't be surprised if he really did manage to be useful as an assist trophy.
-Dr. Andonauts (Earthbound) - As Jeff is in Brawl already, he really should have his father looking out for him.
-Mr. EAD (F-Zero) - The second weirdest character ever thought up by the minds of Nintendo (first being Tingle). An android from the mysterious EAD organization, he strives for perfection in whatever he does, but seems to fail when it comes to acting like a human would...
-Super Arrow and Mrs. Arrow (F-Zero) - The married superhero couple should team up for an Assist Trophy.
-Daigoroh (F-Zero) - His dad is in Brawl, so why not him? The child prodigy (and 10x better than his father at everything) would make a great addition!
-Dr. Stewart (F-Zero) - The rather serious, but sometimes overly flambuoyant Surgeon-turned-F-Zero-racer would be an okay assist trophy.
-Crazy Redd (Animal Crossing) - Because he's just so CRAAAAAAZY!!
-Malo (Legend of Zelda) - Replacing Tingle, of course.
-Franziska von Karma (Phoenix Wright) - Because Franny's Whiptastic Adventure didn't sell, she needs to earn a living after T&T Ended.
PokeBalls
-Missingno - Why not? The most famous glitched pokemon in the franchise and there's no room in Brawl for it? Blasphemy!
-Solrock and/or Lunatone
-Darkrai - Because it's awesome.
-Shaymin - Because it's cute.

It mostly depends on what controller option best appeals to you. If you'd rather play the game more traditionally, you may want to try the Gamecube controller, but the best way to figure it out would be to wait and play the game to try out the ones you already have.

When I asked my sister to help me with Co-Op Events, I gave her my Gamecube controller, and I used the Wii-Mote.
