I'll have to agree with 7 Days a Skeptic and I chuck in D and D2!

D: When Laura's father's head appears as an apparition it scares the shit out of me. He talks all weird and creepy then suddenly dissapears as if nothing happened. And the hand reaching out of the drawer-mirror scared the shit out of me, in spite of how predicable it was...

D2: Was... one of the most disturbing games I've ever played lol. There's a plane crash in super-northern Canada where mutated people with green blood wander around in the dark winter night... Laura (the main character) doesn't talk so she's reduced to listening to the (occaisional) survivor's insane stories about drug abuse and sexual assault... When people are lonely...
Spoiler:
(Also the terrorist guy's body being dragged around on the floor after he mutates made me gag a little.)

No one said Clocktower 3...and I'm glad. Clocktower 3 was not scary.
The game that scared me recently was...Gears of War(I was playing with my cousins on that stormy level).

I just realized the scariest game I've ever played.

Final Fantasy XII.

Honestly, even though I love the game, I've developed an almost phobia of playing it. ...It's so hard.

It's irrational I know, the thing that still scares me is getting caught by the guards in Beyond Good and Evil there is no way you can go up and defeat them you have to sneak around them. :grey:

For some of them you can hit the tanks in the back of their uniform to distract them to get by them without being seen, the slightest miscalculation in firing at the tanks and they turn around and immediately scan the area for you. It takes a while for them to settle down and then it's back to trying to get around them again. To make matters worse if they have a friend in the area they will go and help their buddy out so you have a limited window to move to the next area.

Then there are the drones that sort of resemble the Peat Hats(the buzz saw robots) from HL-2 that can be in the area along with two of the guards most of the time they will have that tank that you have to take out in order for you to get by them. If they see you a burst of machine gun fire will rain down upon Jade along with that red police light flashing in the distance and the sound of the siren from Silent Hill screaming in your ears.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard that cursed siren go off that by now I'm conditioned to fear it's coming, maybe that's the reason why I haven't finished the last part of Beyond Good and Evil yet, the area I'm in is a room that's open with no place to hide and a catwalk that's stretches before me and my next destination. To get through I have to get by two guards both who have tanks on their backs.

I can see no way I can get by them without them seeing me as there are no shadow corners for me to hide in at the bottom of the catwalk and If I hit one guard the other will either see me (cue the police lights, machine guns and sirens) or repair his friend's tank and resume patrol when it's fixed.

Did I forget to mention that they come looking for you if they hear a noise coming from your general direction? In addition to giving the drones the command to scan the area and bomb it at the same time. It's a wonder I got though the rest of the guard trigger happy levels like I did. :sadshoe:

MEMORIES. I played Beyond Good&Evil for a few hours and I had the exact same thoughts when I (accidentally) snuck into a place and got noticed by the guards. I didn't play the game so much after that, but now that I hear that you have to go through the guards to proceed... *gulp*

I generally hate hate hate those sequences in games when you have to go through the guards without being noticed. In The legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and in Ocarina of Time you had to do that at least twice, and I thought they were really hard at the time. And I just hate that whistle, grrr...

Resident Evil for the Gamecube did two things to me that have never, ever happened in all my life:

1.) Sleep with the lights on.
2.) Have a truely terrifying nightmare that a zombie bit my hand, and I woke up screaming for help.

Now RE: Umbrella comes out Tuesday... let's see if the fear comes back. I cannot wait. :edgy:

Yo!
Oddly enough, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time gave me some frights in the day.
It doesn't bother me anymore, but when I was around 10 or 11, the forest temple scared the hell out of me. It was pretty creepy as a level, but I was alright, up until I walked into one room only to find something drop down from the ceiling and drag me off to the level start (Goddamn Wall Masters!).

It startled me so bad I couldn't get myself to play for AGES. I don't even mean a few weeks; I think I put it down and didn't play it for months.

Now, I go back and look at that stage and start to laugh my :welly: off!

When you were "10 or eleven?? " Im..24 and water monsters still frighten..and ..so does that damned hand.

Actually, I remember being afraid of far less when I was 10-11

As for survival horror games, I just HATE shit jumping out of me so I ah..wont play them.

There is one horror game I want to try ( I hear there isnt a lot of surprise attacks) but for the life of me I cant remember what its called.

I just know its about some woman who decides to investigate her fathers murder after the police had given up. She somehow travels through time and places. As you take damage the character starts going insane and the game will play tricks on you. Pictures eyes will follow you the Tv will shut off...ec. Anyone know what games this is?

I might be able to tell you what the game is called, but I need to know for what system, if you can remember.

Also, I can tell you this, Horror and fear are like germs: the more germs enter the body, the more of a resistance you build up. Most people don't get as scared anymore from things like movies and video games because they have become desensitized to fear (for better or worse...).

Damn, no I dont recall for certain. But Im leaning towards PS 2.

Ah, that would explain a lot.
Things that most people should be and are afraid of dont phase me in the least. I have no problem keeping disturbingly calm when it comes to fie, earthquakes, car accidents, storms/blackouts or common place phobias like needles/blood, or insects.
Iv also been through some of the above more times than I can count.

But the fears I DO have..are so bizarre (stupid, really)and inexplicable even I dont understand them.

I may be mistaken, but the only game I can think of for the PlayStation2 that would fit the bill would be the game Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. The game is about a girl who gets a message about the death of here Grandfather, and then goes to investigate. Then there is some things about Cthulhu-esq. demons and time-travel, but it basically fits what you described.

So, am I close?

....Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I know, it's stupid...Those dementors scare me, though.*Shivers* You may proceed to laugh and point at me.

As with most people, LoZ's in 3-d have always scared me. Except Windwaker.

...In MM, after I fought Gyorg, I spent the following week terrified of my brothers pet fish.

In Ocarina, I spent an hour hiding under the bed after meeting the ReDeads.

In Twilight Princess...The postman. I'm sorry, the guy fell off a bridge and still managed to deliver my mail. That's not normal.

...I'm frightened easilly, Ok?
If I could walk the Moonlit Night
Free of all human stress and fright...
If I could Howl my own Wolf Song
If I could right my Every Wrong...

Yea! thats it! thanks. Hmm..the character is a student as SU huh? I take the bus there on a regular basis. Didnt know it had to do with mythology. That makes it even cooler.

Call of Duty as well.

Traveling down dark, empty corridors knowing that there might be a German handing around somewhere, added with the cold, bland atmosphere, almost adds a sense of lonliness, like your life could end at any moment. Then you hear bullet fire and you're like "OH SHIT! WTFBBQOMFGSPAZSPAZSPAZ*seizure*". It only happens the first time though. You get used to it.

On the topic of Trauma Center - Second Opinion, I have to say, some of the GUILT were pretty scary, game-play wise (Savato was a serious pain...) :grey:

As far as actual horror can go, I though that Adam was truly "scary".

Hello! I'm new so, how do you do?

I was about 8 when I first saw some old friends that were 15/16 years of age playing Resident Evil 2. I remember the "You Died" written in blood appeared on the screen. o_O

Resident Evil Outbreak series and 4 still scare me as well. Surprisingly, The Suffering is not as horrific as I thought it was.

Surprisingly, RE doesn't scare me, especially the older games (I know it is supposed to be scary, but in a few of the games you could just walk right past a hoard of zombies and they wouldn't even have enough time to turn around before you are outta there. Then, there is the Whang-pailed scene in RE4...).

Metroid Prime 2 gave me a startle at one point or another. Some of those Ing are creepy enough to actually give fright when they jump outta nowhere. Plus, I hated when Dark Samus popped out nowhere.

Umm, I haven't really played any freaky games as far as I can remember, but had a moment in PW:

Spoiler: T&T case 2 spoiler
When you see the flashback in Kane Bullard's office with the black pixelly figure appearing in the door...I was playing in the evening, it freaked me out a bit :( (pathetic, I know...)
