Soooo I searched and this seemed like the most recent topic of KH in general (if you can call 2008 recent. XD)

Anyway 358/2 Days has been out for quite a while, but now the release date for Birth By Sleep has been announced!

SEPTEMBER 7TH FOR U.S.

SEPTEMBER 10TH FOR EUROPE

Here's a short English trailer for it, with Master Xehanort voiced by Leonard Nimoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4cX9CxfJaU

By the way, Mark Hamill is also doing a voice in BBS. Leonard Nimoy and Mark Hamill in the same thing! Who ever said Star Trek and Star Wars couldn't get along? xD

Ugh somebody catch me I think I'm gonna faint....
Glad to get a date at least.

Also I recommend all of you COM-bashers suck it up and play it on GBA =D

I enjoyed the system especially Riku's Reverse/Rebirth mode.
Plus it IS like vital for plot.

Using cards is at least much easier on the GBA than the PS2 anyway. xD For me, at least.

Yeah I kept thinking the system wouldn't work well on PS2.

Mind you I've not tried it but it just seemed....too simple to work well on PS2.

Hell no, it's a cash cow.

I already bought a PSP largely for Birth by Sleep I think this marketing campaign is ridiculous.

You sound like someone who would cling to their NES and refuse to purchase a SNES in 1991. Or someone who would refuse to buy a GBA after it came out. Or a DS. :T You're kind of being left behind here. It's not another DS revision, it's the actual successor model.

Hmmph maybe then....the fact it still includes 'DS' in the name seems highly suspect to me but we'll see.

I would really do the research if I were you. :V Successor consoles regularly have part/all of their predecessor's name in them, it's nothing new. Look into it, you'll be glad that you did.

How young do you think I am?

I've seen consoles succeed before....but if the main games played on this 3DS are DS games with 3DS features being a small boost (like the camera on DSi) then I'll be mad.

DS/DS Lite had a GBA slot. It didn't support GB/GBC games, but still.

(...also, hate to nitpick but the GBA was a sixth-gen system, we're still in the seventh generation. Until the 3DS hits, anyway.)

No no don't worry about it I was just curious.

It's not exactly common for something to be so backwards compatible anyway especially when the format changed like it did for Nintendo's systems.

In other news that Kid Icarus game looks awesome.

Ah, fair enough!

EDIT: Amazing how this hasn't come up in here yet. Kingdom Hearts coded is being remade for DS, with elements of 358/2 Days and Birth by Sleep's gameplay put in.

I liked the first game when it came out. Looking bad it wasn't that good, but it's still a game I remember fondly. <3

From what I've heard, the sequels are pretty bad.

It's just that the sequels didn't quite match up to the magic of the original, even though the mechanics improved. By themselves the sequels aren't bad games at all, unless you're one of the people who absolutely despised the card-based battle system in Chain of Memories.

Actually, a good percentage of Kingdom Hearts fans like the second game more than the first [including me]. I just felt like it had a better storyline, a better playable character at the beginning [I'm not really a cheerful person, so Sora got on my nerves. Emoboy Roxas was my savior for a few minutes. And I liked his fighting style better too], and I loved the reaction command button. COM on the GBA was alright, but Re: COM still gives me nightmares. I never finished it. I wanted to finish it, but Larxene is freakin' impossible for me to beat. 358/2 or whatever was better than most people said, with all the "It's so repetitive and boring" complaints. Though most complained that the story didn't really start until like mission 170 something, I managed to stay entertained throughout the whole game. I need to get a PSP so I can play BBS. It looks way better than the first game, in my opinion.

KH2 has a better story than the original? Are you serious. T_T

I mean, it had more content, sure. But, something was missing. Maybe it was the execution or something. The ending was good, though the final sequence leading up to it was ridiculous. XDDD

I'm playing BBS right now and so far it's been hitting the storyline mark well, with more efficient and fun gameplay. MAGIC IS USEFUL. WUT.
It's weird that the Disney stories in each main character's path are so short, since technically each character plays through 1/3 of each world's story.

I'm gonna barge into the 3DS discussion and say that I'm... not all too fond of it as of now myself. The only thing that I look forward about this is that I will supposedly be able to play some games that so far have only been available on PS because of the new button it will include.
Other than that, I got my DS Lite very late, it's like... only 3 years old now. That is not long for a console. (Especially seeing that we STILL own the very first version of a Gameboy... a Color and an Advance).

And back to topic now.
Yes, Kingdom hearts.

I own no console expect the handhelds mentioned above whatsoever. Hence, I only know Chain of Memories and 358/2 days. And no matter what people say, I thought Chain of Memories was great, seeing that it was an "Advance" game, an in comparison with other consoles, the Advance could do a lot, but it was STILL a small console and the way of the gameplay worked greatly.

I liked CoM even more than 358/2 days because 358/2 turned kinda monotone and repetive at some point. CoM didn't. But that wasn't the actually really bad thing there at all, what makes me like CoM simply more is that CoM had MUSHU! 358/2 didn't. I was disappointed :<
In general I would have liked more interaction with Disney Characters in 358/2 days, but the plot wouldn't allow it, duuuh.
Sadly, I never really got to enjoy Mushu in CoM though, because I needed a blue 2 to open the door he was hidden behind. And it took me 2 years to find the effin card of this door when I was in the LAST STAGE ALREADY ;_;

Though it took me generally long to beat this game because of previous Levy-Logic.

I don't play by that strange logic anymore, ever since I started hardcore gaming again during my train rides to school and work ^^

It's not the game itself that I hated, it's just the fact that I suck at it, it limits how many times you can attack *button masher*, and it requires too much strategical thinking in a split second. Those games give me headaches. D= I actually traded my GBA KH: COM for Pokemon Crystal. And it doesn't even work. But now I have RE:COM. I still haven't beaten it.

I've splurged into the Kingdom Hearts series of games but never truly beaten one except Chain of Memories which was HARD (seriously, I want to slap Riku Replica silly across the front gate of Twilight Town).

Now if they could have a Kingdom Hearts 3 it will be all cool, but knowing the immense amount of backstory involved in the series we probably won't get there until 2013.

On to other things......I'm hoping to love Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded which I hope will not have 5 hours of tutorial and a more diverse color palette than 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts 3D which I have no clue about and maybe...........
Spoiler: Birth By Sleep special ending spoiler
Kingdom Hearts: Reconnect? Or maybe it is the title of Kingdom Hearts 3D.

Though to me I think it seemed odd to make it 3D and change it so.

Yes the obvious reason is that it brings it to a more common format so more fans can play it.

But the system was designed to work with the GBA....so many better systems could be employed.

Also you'll get loads of Mushu in KH2 Levy

Ah yes, KH2...
The freak I am downloaded the cutscenes from Youtube in English AND German xD

I just wish I could actually play that game as well, but nuuuh, I'm stuck with my Gameboys ~

Quote:

I seriously don't get how they EXPECT the original multiple platformer strategy to work other than that everyone gets to play at LEAST one version of the game. I mean geez, either stay with one platform to begin with or make it a platformer for everything from the start... I don't think a lot of people will go run and buy a GBA AND a DS AND a PSP just because there is a new game of the series that still has to be bought as WELL!
Either you are lucky and own that console already or you're left out with one part of their... plot if you can call it like that. (What was it? Someone had to play CoM to understand what was going on in KH2? And 358/2 seemed to take place DURING CoM)

That is some weird strategy and I don't like it :/
The game itself might be a money cow, but the consumers certainly aren't. Seems like they more or less understood that so far if they're trying to move it all to PS2 at least (which is sad though because well yea - stuck with handhelds)

I agree the marketing strategy is somewhat cruel.

Birth by Sleep could easily be released on PS2 AND PSP.

And COM occurs sometime in the first few weeks of Days.

Birth By Sleep isn't on the PS2 because they stopped making PS2 games a long time ago. I don't understand why though. The PS2 was the best game system ever in my mind. Good graphics + tons of good games [KH, Persona, Crash Bandicoot, etc.] + variety *glares at 360 and PS3's shooter games* = Awesomeness. *sigh* I want to buy a PSP to play BBS, but I'm afraid they'll do KH3 on the PS3 or something and I'd have to buy that too...

BBS has a secret movie alluding to another game, to the best of my knowledge....
