Spoiler: Endings they have gotten and the route they are on now
Ending 1: FAIL K
'Ending' 2: Scenario Lock No.1 (Basically a coffin ending. Except in this game they are EVERYWHERE)

They're currently on Luna's route.

Shouldn't that have been obvious when you go the scenario lock for K? It's not like it just ends with a to be continued and there is nowhere to go from there, because the flowchart doesn't go any farther.

Spoiler: also, some plot-spoilery stuff
ssssssh
For all I knew, there was just 1 novel section left in that ending :P

Anyway, got to another lock... Well, it's not a 'hard' lock (there's no lock in the flow chart), but I need an ID+password, and I have no idea so... Time to go betray Luna in the first AB Game! (*sob*)

...Darn, going back through the same scenes again is kinda annoying xP

I suspected that plug opened K's suit!! We don't get to see his face yet, though, I guess... (plzbehotplzbehotplzbehot)
Also, I've suspected Quark for, liek, ever. (Well, I guess we don't know that he's evil yet. But he's the only one besides Phi and Sigma who's alive so... (but this is VLR, so anything is possible xP))

One hell of a cliffhanger, isn't it?

I don't know why they didn't block Luna's ending with a Scenario Lock. It stands out from all the other instances of 'to be continue'ds and if you really wanted to you could just get the password online and see the ending before you are supposed to.

Damn, some moron posted stuff on gamefaqs.com (already deleted) that probably spoiled something for me. I have a short question for the ones who already finished VLR. Please only answer with yes or no.

Spoiler: Spoiler question
Does Akane play an important role in Virtue's Last Reward? Only say yes, if she really plays an important part and write nothing more than yes/no please.

I feel like I'm a character in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I just spoiled myself to Alkolto's Answer, but not the question. The Answer is 42, but what's the question? Knowing could well destroy the world and replace it with something ridiculous. Though, there are theories that this has already happened.

Well, I heard from many different sources that VLR offers maaaany twists and turns. So knowing one single twist won't necessarily destroy your experience with the game, especially not in this case (the informations are just too vague). I still recommend you don't read my question. It's something you don't want to know in advance.

To be honest, it's not even that much of a twist. I wouldn't read it before you play the game, but if you accidentally see it or some jerk posts it without spoiler warnings *cough*GameFAQs*cough*, it's far from the biggest twist, and you could probably guess it before the game even starts.

There are some other spoilers floating around (Mainly character spoilers) which are pretty major, but thankfully I haven't seen any major story spoilers outside of Japanese websites. And really the character spoilers don't make too much sense without the story spoilers.

That's great! So the cooperation of Aksys Games with Rising Star Games was good news after all. :godot:

Now the question is: Is RSG going to publish the same version as Aksys or do they provide French/German/Italian/Spanish translations (text only) as well? I personally guess it will be in English only and that could mean the EU release date could be very close to the US release date. However unless it's released in the same week I will still buy the game from the US PSN store. I just can't wait for it. ;)

Hmm.. I was set on getting a Vita and had no idea the game would make its way over here to 3DS!
Question: Do I buy a 3DS as there are a few games I'd like to play as well as VLR (Paper Mario, maybe NSMB and some others), (and I can use all my DS games on that) or get a Vita? The 3DS (probably go for an XL one now) will be cheaper I guess, though I understand the Vita screen is better and has Achievements or something like that for VLR.

Edit : F*CK. YEAH.
Looks like they're dropping the 'Zero Escape' part, though. Guess that means they don't plan to release the first title in Europe, though it's not really a problem since the DS is not region-locked.

***
Well, buying a Vita now would be a total waste of money :
- There's barely any interesting games on it
- it's expensive compared to the 3DS
- it's got proprietary Memory Cards which are expensive as hell
- very few interesting games coming up, and most developers are shunning it (especially in Japan). One guy from Sony even admitted it they had trouble bringing third-party devs. to develop on Vita

Whereas with the 3DS, you got :

- a not so expensive console with lots of interesting game released and coming soon : Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Resident Evil Revelations, Kid Icarus Uprising (BEST game on 3DS yet, a real gem, a masterpiece... right Wooster? :p), Mario Tennis, lots of good eShop games (Mutant Mudds, Pushmo, Mighty Switch Force! etc...), NSMB2, Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario, Fire Emblem Awakening, Virtue's Last Reward, Code of Princess, Animal Crossing, and maybe the next Ace Attorney game
- you can use regular SD Cards, which are generally 2 to 3 times less expensive than the Vita's memory cards. But the console comes with a 2GB (4gb for the XL), so you don't even need to buy one, unless you want to download entire 3DS game through eShop.
- developers (especially in Japan) love it, including Capcom

So yeah, the 3DS might not be quite as powerful as the Vita (by a long shot), the screen isn't as awesome (even though the XL screens are quite impressive), but it's less expensive than the Vita, got way more interesting games released and coming up, is selling quite well, especially in Japan (which means, more games for it), etc...

Right now, the Vita's in a pretty dire situation, just like I wouldn't have recommended the 3DS on year ago (because barely no interesting game release yet, and expensive... even though I DID buy one Day-1 and don't regret it one bit :p). But the situation's much worse for the Vita than it was for the 3DS... and surprisingly, you don't see any anaylyst/journalist claiming : "it's doomed!".

tldr version : buy a 3DS, definitely.

***

And F*CK YEAH and HURRAY! for Rising Star Games. I would have imported a used US 3DS anyway, but it's really great to see the game'll be released in Europe too. First, Code of Princess was confirmed for Europe too in early July, now this... So great :D

Haven't played any of this recently, since I overloaded myself, and have been playing OoT3D and Pokemon W2 recently...

But I've been thinking, and I can't tell if this is supposed to be in Japanese or English. It's obvious that Sigma is supposed to be American
Spoiler: not really spoilers, but tag'd just in case
If you look at the picture of him being abducted, IIRC the steering wheel is on the left (American) side of the car (in Japan, it's on the right). Also IIRC, he said his university is in California.
Also, a lot of the documents have English text, and whenever they read it, they write "[English] - [Japanese]", as if it's "This is what it actually says - This is the translation". But on the other hand, IIRC the people in 999 were Japanese and we have Clover here, and there are some things that are... just really Japanese. For instance,
Spoiler: You probably won't understand this unless you've actually played the game (or this specific scene) in Japanese, but meh
506/go-rei-mu

hmm.... ayup, it prolly takes place in Japanifornia.
New Headcanon: Sigma goes to school at Ivy University

And you obviously want to get a 3DS because it's the system that GS5 will probably (hopefully :larry: be on)
(and even without GS5, there's still PL5, OoT3D, Mario Kart 7, Animal Crossing, and PLvPW)

Spoiler: Ethnicities. Not really a spoiler, since you can really figure them out with context clues
Sigma is indeed American.

As for the other characters, Clover is obviously Japanese, as well as Tenmyouji, because of his name. And Alice is obviously Egyptian.

As for the other characters, I don't know if I'd consider them spoilers, but I won't say where they're from anyway. Some of them I don't even know if they ever say where they're from.

Also, I recently got to play with the 3DS version of the game. Personally, I prefer the Vita version. The Vita version has bigger screen and the sound quality was a slight bit better. It's not something that you would really complain about unless you've played both versions, though. But the UI on the 3DS is far better, since it's not all over the screen where the action is taking place, and is instead on the bottom screen. And the touch screen controls are a lot better. So it's a lot more convenient to play.

I'm still going to get the 3DS version of the NA version, because there is no reason for me to have two copies of the Vita version.

Those seem to be the same ones used in the Nintendo Power.

Aksys sure seems to be hush hush about pre-release information and things of that sort about the English version. Only a handful of English screenshots have been released and the game is only 2 months away. They've said that they won't be announcing the voice actors of the game. And Erin Fitzgerald deleted her announcement about being cast as Quark. Which is a little weird.

I'm thinking that they may be having the voice actors go uncredited and paid under the table. Because that's case with a lot of RPGs that have a ton of voiced dialogue. Because it costs a lot more to have them as credited voice actors, and it's not even money that goes to the voice actors. And although I'm no voice actor myself, I know that most voice actors get paid for the amount of days and hours they spend recording lines, so this is no cheap game to dub. Even with no Sigma voice acting that's nine characters who have a lot of lines.

Although it would be nice if we at least got a trailer or something by this point, even if it doesn't have voice acting in it. But whatever, as long as the we get the game and there's no problems with it I'm fine. Hell, I still loved and played through every single route in both English and Japanese in Devil Survivor 2, despite the slightly below par translation that game had.

Well, they're putting together the VLR site bit by bit if you do some digging around in the site's source, but I get the feeling they're really focused on development. Bear in mind that 999, which was a significantly smaller game in just about every way, was released December '09 in Japan and November '10 in America. VLR was released in February '12 in Japan and they're aiming for an October '12 release in America. I'm sure VLR's getting somewhat more resources allocated to it given 999's success, but that's still a rather smaller window for a rather larger game.

I understand that, but it's really them refusing to announce any voice actors before the game is released and Erin Fitzgerald's post about it being deleted that makes me kind of suspicious.

They probably have their reasons, but it always kind of worries me when we're only a few weeks away from a game's release and there are only a handful of details and screenshots being released. And no official release date, either, even if it's just a placeholder.

It could be that Aksys has a NDA surrounding the whole production (with authorized public information releases) and she accidentally let it slip, then redacted the post.

I dunno, I wouldn't get worried yet. Some games don't get official announcements until a few months before release anyway. Localizations are different, since the game has already been made, so the fact it exists can't be kept under wraps.

I thought they had an official release date... but then again I guess I only saw a date on Amazon...

Fair enough. Aksys seems really dedicated to getting this out by October, and the November release from RSG suggests RSG might be licensing Aksys' work, but I still wouldn't be surprised to see the release date slip back a bit.

I wouldn't be surprised if it got a PEGI 18. Especially depending on the descriptors it is given. There is a descriptor that the game may or may not get. And if it does get it, I'd be surprised if it didn't get a PEGI 18.

There's not doubt that it will get an M rating, and it got a C rating in Japan. But then again, you have to have some crazy stuff in your game to get a D.

I'm sure it would get Coarse Language, Blood, Violence or whatever - but if it does get 18 its surprising because I've hardly seen 18 rated DS games.
It will certainly get a US Mature rating. Is the Australian M rating final? Seems quite low (I would think it should be at least MA).

Yup, it's coming to Europe, on 3DS :p
It's coming out in November apparently... even if I'm extremely happy they're releasing it in Europe, I think November was the WORST month to release it, what with this months being one of the busiest of the year for game releases, and the probable launch of the Wii U that month... Well, let's hope I'm just being a pessimist here, and that it'll be yet another sleeper hit, like 999 in the US. This game deserves to fly off the shelves like huge pancakes with tons of syrup on it :p

As for the rating, I'm expecting a 16+, but I'd be surprised if it go a 18+ rating.
I mean, I never saw anything 18+ worthy in 999. True, some of the descriptions were kinda lovely, but the actual violence was never shown directly (not like a Saw movie, that I never saw anywayh, so maybe I'm just talking bs here!). Maybe it's changed in VLR, but if it's like 999, 16+ will be the rating. Then again, that black chick could earn a 18+ rating all by herself :yogi:

I mean, even Resident Evil Revelations got a 16+ rating in Europe, so I'd be surprised if VLR got a 18+... not that it'd matter for me anyway :p

You got to see some of the gore in 999. Mainly in the endings, and it was never really anything more than just lifeless bodies with blood around them.

But this game gets a little more intense. And there is one scene that made me pretty grossed out. It definitely outmatches anything in 999.

And there's another thing that I can't really talk about that might net it an 18+. But it really depends how deeply they look into it.

I've heard that if a game gets a discrimination descriptor it's automatically listed as PEGI 18, no matter what.

Spoiler: context
I won't say what, but there is something that happens in the background of the game that could be considered discrimination.

I have never heard of such a thing, the descriptor is totally independent from the rating. Of course, content have an influence on the rating AND the descriptor, but the oppositie (descriptor influencing the rating) isn't necessarily true. Indeed, you can have a 'Violent Rating' on a 7+ game (like the pre-installed games on the 3DS), but you can have a 16+ rating without one (though generally, it does have one).

I even remember Another Code on DS, which had the 'Fear' descriptor on it... made me giggle when I saw that :keiko:

But yeah, your description of the game makes me think a 18+ rating isn't that unlikely. 999 was sorta ok, since most of the gross stuff was generally just described, not really shown. But if VLR got worse stuff, it's more likely to get a 18+ rating than I thought.

Errr... dude? It's already been confirmed for Europe, see my post above :p
But to answer your question anyway, yes, you could've played an Australian game on your 3DS, it's the same region for Nintendo.

I just thought of something - I hope the UK release has dual audio. I wouldnt want to JUST play it with an English dub and itd be nice to have the option to choose.
