My sister currently has the utmost praise for A New Beginning. I got the game for myself, but I let her borrow it when she asked to play it. She's pretty much playing the game non-stop.

I'd be tempted to play it but... 3DS. Apparently not out in Germany... I do want to play that Story of Seasons that XSeed is bringing out.

I'm conflicted about bothering with Tomodachi Life. On the one hand, I might get a kick out of some of the odd relationships that might develop. On the other hand, I'm more than a little passionate about certain pairings and would probably be quite annoyed if a pairing I disliked wound up happening.

Those are my thoughts.

Meanwhile, I'm going to start another Dragon Age or DAII playthrough. Not sure which yet.

Getting fired up for the Inquisition?

I'm debating whether to pre-order it or not. It's more than likely a game I'd like to buy on Day One and the special edition will have some nice DLC no doubt.

Thanks in large part to a dishonorable practice known as save-scumming, I have managed to trigger and complete both of the events in Rune Factory 4 that need to be completed for my character to be able to marry Forte. Despite her claims that she's a lousy cook, she has made some good (though simple) meals for my character. Even when she provides a Failed Dish or a Disastrous Dish, though, I'm able to put it to good use by tossing it at an enemy that's got more HP than I'd prefer. Offers a bit of a new perspective on the "Lethal Chef" trope, ah?

Even if it's months away, I was this is on my mind, so I decided to revisit Dragon Age II. Mostly due to the faster-paced combat. I'll probably pre-order it.

Indeed! Though I'm more familiar with the trope's effect on Star Ocean, where food creation failures poison you.

Envyyyyyyyyyyy! D=

Also, still trying to figure out which HM game to LP... Friends of Mineral Town has stuff to offer, but the original is shorter and I can show multiple "tricks" to get lots of love from the ladies fast... hmmm...

Also, still playing Overclocked cause Devil Survivor 2 hasn't arrived yet. It did say ETA between August 25th and 29th, so... and it's coming from the UK and not US, so customs technically shouldn't hold it back cause it's a within the EU shipment...

Started in Sigma Harmonics (DS), a detective-RPG by Square Enix. Yes, a detective RPG. You need to find clues, deduce and find the murderer, but also fight in random encounters, level up and defeat stage bosses. Also, the plot is a bit like Shadow of Memories, as every time you manage to solve the murder, time changes again resulting in a new murder (but in the same location and with the same people). The deduction mechanics are interesting, as they allow you to continue whether you're right or wrong, but getting all the deductions right helps you immensely when you confront the murderer / fight the boss at the end of each chapter: the boss' stats changes depending on how well you managed to solve the case, so while a perfect answer results in a boss which can be defeated with just one hit, wrong answers will give it so many stat boosts it's impossible to defeat.

If only the game would feel less like a chore... so many things that make general gameflow feel soooooooo slow and it really seems like their inclusion was just meant to lengthen the playtime...

It wasn't. And you really need to know Japanese to play the game; the deduction mechanics are quite complex (and vague. Especially vague) and because wrong answers give the boss immense stats boosts, it becomes almost impossible to beat the game if you can't at least comprehend the hints and questions. And of course, the battle mechanics aren't especially fun (though original, I give them that), so I think the game is mostly enjoyed for its story anway.

Shortly after I launched my invasion of Andalusia in Crusader Kings II, I received word of the event foretelling the Aztec's (I'm told "Aztec" is both singular and plural, so the location of the apostrophe in that word is correct) arrival. I knew the Aztec would arrive in one of ten counties, and since I had not gotten an earlier event, I knew that they would not arrive in Marrakech. However, the possibility of an arrival in the lands I was planning to conquer was still there. Luckily, since I was in the process of invading Andalusia, I already had 105,000 of my best troops in the region. I won the war with the Knights of Calatrava and seized Andalusia from them. As luck would have it, the Aztec arrived in Silves, one of the territories I gained from the Knights, about a year later with an army of a little over 100,000. My own troops were close enough to one another that I was able to win the first battle against the Aztec, crippling their army in the process, and crush them.

If I had held off on my invasion for just a few years, the Aztec would have torn the Knights apart without me having to lift a finger. In hindsight, as tempting as it may have been, letting the Knights of Calatrava be the first line of defense against the Aztec would have meant having a much nastier enemy to deal with during my own invasion of Andalusia, not to mention the Aztec would have killed a lot of good people had they had their way. Ah, the irony. It was only because they were conquered by Muslims that the Christians of the Iberian Peninsula were saved from the Aztec.

Edit: I spoke too soon; another army has arrived and is attacking Francia. ...Sorry, Emperor Thiébaut, but I'm not in a position to help you; we have no formal alliance, so I cannot join your war. May The Greatest grant your people victory in this world or relief in the next.

Finally managed to get my hands on WarioWare Twisted, and it's damn good. Very unique, even for a WarioWare game. Can't believe I found this at the local second-hand game shop, right when I was considering buying it on Ebay. Got it for a solid £20, too. Also can't believe we in the UK (and the rest of us in Europe) didn't get this amazing game. Some BS over it having the tiniest bit of Mercury in it or something? I dunno. All I know is I love this game.

I'm liking it so far, though i'm not that good at it.

I don't know why but whenever they give the option to play as a Female character in a game i always have the compultion to pick said female character.

This is the character i ended up with.

That's why I love/hate Mario Kart 8's customization. It allows appearance and stat customizations, but an RPG system might be appealing. The only Mario Golf game I've played is the NES one available in the ambassador program. Ironic in that Dragon Quest and FF characters appear in Mario titles without RPG elements.

I can get behind the system for the Mario Kart games, considering that the games are just Grands Prix, individual races, time trials, and battles. For that matter, my memory is that there is some customization in the portable sports games, though most of the focus is on leveling up. With the portable sports games, the RPG system makes more sense due to how the games are designed. If a Mario Kart game came with a full-fledged story, such as a player character driver hoping to compete in major races, then I could support an RPG-style Mario Kart game. As things stand, though, I have trouble seeing it work.

Mario Tennis on the GBC was the most awesome thing ever. No idea where that cartridge is now though...

Picked up Kurohyou 2 (Yakuza PSP spin-off) after a week of rest again. I'm still horribly overleveled, so even though the in-game events and movies presented the chapter boss to be an absolute monster, the poor guy went down within a minute...

Ah. Like someone on here said, there should be a sarcasm button.

Anyway, yeah... I never even finished it. Resource management in Pikmin and Overlord? I'm ok. RPG's like Final Fantasy, Legend of Legaia, Fallout, or Mass Effect? That, too. But every now and then I run into a game I can't beat. And they're frequently showing up on steam. Papers, Please! and Five Nights at Freddy's are just too difficult.

... well, maybe not too difficult, but I gave up on them. I used to think Mega Man X3 was impossible, too. >__>

Just finished Kurohyou 2 - Ryuu ga Gotoku Ashura Hen, the second Yakuza spinoff for the PSP. And it was great! It's a well-made portable Yakuza that also manages to be original because of its deep combat system. The story is kinda like Yakuza 2 (dealing with an attack on Kamurochou by a gang from Soutenbori), but as Kurohyou 2's story deals with youth delinquents and underground martial arts tournaments, you don't really tread on all too familiar paths. I haven't played the first one Kurohyou, so I don't know how much was improved, but this is a pretty big game too; with both an explorable Kamurochou and Soutenbori and loads of sidequests (including a very long campaign about delinquent gangs in both cities).

While most of it is good old Yakuza (including the intrige upon intrige plot), the combat system is much deeper than the main series. You can choose from about twenty different fighting styles and customize them and in the end-game even mix up the styles (i.e. use Juujutsu grabs, but boxing punches). It's really fun trying out all the styles and finding one which suits you and some styles work better against others.

And Kurohyou 2 is also one of the few PSP exclusive games I really love, now I think about it. I use the thing mostly for ports of older games/PSX games and the few exclusive PSP games I enjoyed have been ported to other systems in the meantime (like Danganronpa and MGS: Peace Walker).

I've had to recall my Court Mullah's mission in Crusader Kings II. Shortly after completing my conquest of the Indian Subcontinent (yay, no more having to edit out that glitchy "Religious Unrest" modifier!), I finally noticed that my capital province had somehow been converted to Nestorianism. I don't know how that escaped my notice. Perhaps the game didn't alert me? Or maybe I just dismissed the message without reading it. The invasion of Greece will proceed as planned, though. It's high time my people avenged the humiliation of being conquered by Alexander all those centuries ago. My only regret is that Pella has already fallen into ruin, so my people cannot do to Alexander's capital what he did to our ancient capital. Perhaps it is appropriate, though; just as our capital is no longer Persepolis, our enemy's capital is no longer Pella. So much has changed, yet in the end, it still comes down to the Persians and the Greeks squaring off once again.

My back has been killing me this week so I decided to play some DS on my bed. After wondering what I should play I remembered: you got the AAI 2 beta up and running for your old DS, but didn't touch it since.

Didn't touch AAI2 after confirming it worked... WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WITH ME? Anyway beat the 1st case yesterday and will deal with the 2nd one today.

Started in Twilight Syndrome: Kinjirareta Toshi Densetsu (DS), the last released full Twilight Syndrome game (though some might have seen Twilight Syndrome appear in a surprising form in another game). Like all TS games, it's a side-scrolling horror game about urban legends, starring three high school students. I've only played the prologue and the first chapter, and it's what you'd expect from TS, so no complaints there (the first chapter features chain mails and Kokkuri-san). New is the use of real life actors for movies, which gives it a b-horror feel. And what's quite awesome is that the game actually features binaural audio recorded with a dummy head. Audiotechnically, it's something I had never seen/heard on the DS before.
