An FBI agent? So like the 'Booth' to Naomi's 'Bones', then?

Oh noes, he was in SO? Is it necessary to have played it to understand? If possible I don't want to spoil SO for myself whilst playing Trauma Team, since I intend to get up to the Naomi part in SO at some point.

The only thing that could possibly spoil you between little guy and Naomi is the frequent "Don't talk about the past" "We agreed to not talk about the past" "Past is secret"

It honestly gets a little annoying at times, but it's nothing that'll spoil anything of value

Lol, I honestly feel like going, "The past? YOU MEAN THE ONE WHERE-- *shot down*" Little Guy's... just amazing. I thought at first, since he barely has a role in SO, that they finally decided to give him a personality in this game and it might contradict how he acted before. Buuuut my friend and I found that going back to Second Opinion and rewatching the cutscenes, he has a lot of the same quirks he has now, but they're less noticeable (plus he has like, one sprite. which makes me sad.) ...or they made him purposely vague to fit whatever role he'd take later and I'm just a fangirl on sugar.

Spoiler: Final Boss
At first, I was reaaaally disappointed by the boss. I mean, the music is amazing, but it was so... easy. Just kill the colonies, suture her, suture there, STOPTHEHEART injection, stabbage, done. However, to be fair, I don't think they were going for a hard final boss, imo. It seemed to be more of an emotional experience, and the horrid mental images of killing a ginormous thing in her heart while watching her vitals plummet. Still, I'm pissed I didn't get to fight the worm/caterpillar/thing.
BUT I can't beat that thing on Specialist mode. Colonies... grow... so fast... ;-;

I'm out of the hospital, feelin' fine.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy

Bolt, no needle was dropped inside of me, and I made it clear I'd sue the hospital if they did. The surgeon wondered what the hell I was talking about.

Just got some medication I need to take until September once a day and go to the hospital every two weeks. No biggie.

Glad to hear "Operation Successful"!!! Oh, and tell your surgeon that he did a good job of not dropping the needle unlike my sister. =P

Err, what's the point in those awards if most of them are regurgitating the medal system?

That said, I've got two observations about Trauma Team. Unlike Under the Knife, and New Blood, Trauma Team sets itself up nicely for sequels. CR's storyline got no conclusions, Freebird's Captain Falcon tendencies were hardly touched upon, Gabriel didn't touch base with his son, despite giving a full physical. etc etc etc... I think Trauma Team is setup well for more titles.

It makes me a little concerned for Trauma Center. Dr. Stiles is the face of that saga, and, while I haven't played UTK2, I can't see them taking the wheel again. There's nothing to establish to keep his saga fresh.

Spoiler: Question: Final Diagnostic
Did solider boy make it? If I recall he was in an advance state of Rosalia, arguably among the first. And, considering the death that happens left and right i wouldn't be surprised if he died. But, I don't recall any follow up, or did I miss it?

Spoiler:
They never went back to him, but I assumed that he died but maybe I'm just feeling morbid. The game conveniently dropped off a lot of plot points and stuff to the point of driving me insane for answers D8<

tbh, I think that Derek's story has been said and done. It makes me sad since he's always been my favorite, but I think that Atlus has been kinda making new characters all over the place to see if any will stick. I think Trauma Team is a refreshing change of pace to the series with a lot of potential for a sequel (which they better use to tie up all the freakin' loose ends from this game *grumble*) However, I'm scared for the end of the TC series because, iirc, the early articles I got from Atlus claimed that Trauma Team was the penultimate game in the series. I sure hope they're just pulling my leg. D8

1 - Maybe the medal system would be taken out from the Wii version if it made it to Xbox, some how.

He died, Naomi stated it in either Demons and Death or Blue Carpet of Death.

Is it bad if this game was so good, I wouldn't mind if they dropped the Trauma Center series? I mean, this is kind of what happened to Phoenix in his games. His story got stale, they made a new and improved version with a different character, but still gave him a cameo appearance major role. It's pretty much the same situation, but Trauma Team is a far better improvement from it's predecessors compared to Apollo's game. *sets up a grave for the Trauma Center series*

Really? O.o ... *sniff*. Oh well it's more reason to go back and replay the game<3

I'd have to agree with the general sentiment. Trauma Team is a reaaaally reallyreallyreally amazing continuation of the series, but it does mean leaving Derek's story behind. Although I would've liked some more time with the characters (mostly to see interactions with side characters like Tyler and Victor), the spotlight's on CR-S01 and the other doctors at Resurgam now.
Speaking of which, I've heard that some people consider Gabe to be the pseudo-main character because he butts into everyone's timelines XD I would complain about it, but I find it too hilarious.

Perhaps I should rephrase what I meant. I didn't mean I wanted yet another Under the Knife. What I meant was that Under the Knife was 'too good' in its story telling. It used so many great ideas in terms of character development, plot advancement, that when New Blood came around they had to deliberately not do what they did in Under the Knife. Considering Under the Knife used all the great ideas, not thinking this would turn into a good series, New Blood suffered in most of the areas where Under the Knife and SO thrived. I just took a look at UTK2's Wiki page, spoiling a few plot points, and it doesn't look like UTK2's great either. UTK2 brought back a great cast, but the cast was well and matured. They couldn't develop.

In UTK Derek went from a selfish idiot intern, to a respectful doctor, to a first rate surgeon. UTK2 Derek has no where to develop. He's already a god amongst Doctors.

Trauma Center has some excellent gameplay, but Altus made a serious mistake in their first game that prevented New Blood and UTK2 from taking off spectacularly. The plot in UTK was too good, and too self contained.

Altus is fixing this in Trauma Team. With so many plot seeds, a sequel is guaranteed, and guaranteed to progress gracefully. The cast is established, but everyone's storyline was inconclusive. They have places to develop. I have high hopes for Trauma Team 2. Although, I really miss the fast paced surgery and sci-fi pathogen battles of Trauma Center.

And yes, I'd second the motion that Gabe was the unofficial main character.

I don't know about him being the unofficial main character, but I consider him like the god behind Trauma Team. He basically controlled everything that happened in the game, CR-S01 coming to Resurgam, saving Tomoe from her family, using Tillman to find a way to stop the Rosalia virus, helped CR-S01 escape, and so much more, yet he stood in the background as he did all of that. He always popped into other people's storylines to either help them out or give them advice. And it kinda proves my point at the end when he breaks the fourth wall to talk to the player. In fact, he broke the fourth wall several times during the game, yet no one else did anything like that. XD

EDIT: Oh, I just noticed that Gabe did practically the same thing as Hobo!Phoenix did in Apollo's game. I have a feeling they would be good manipulation buddies.

I liked Tomoe, it's just that the controls in her mode blow hard.
But yeah. ...Why do I feel like doing fanart of Tomoe masturbating to the Path of Honor, Tachibana style?

FFFFFFOMGTHISISAMAZINGWHEEE-- thank you for the link :3

I've been going back and redoing missions for the sake of medals (though I'm almost certain I'll never complete them. XS on endoscopy? plz, there's better chance of me sprouting wings made of bread and flying to the Bermuda Triangle... no I have not tried that before, who gave you such an idea) I went back to Naomi's second case and got the medal challenge in the girl's room, but I realized after I finished that there was yet another one somewhere on the highway. GAH *facepalm* Also, these questions get mind-numbingly hard for someone like me who barely knew where the thyroid gland was located. How the hell am I supposed to know how many areas on the human body need pressure applied or whatever? *kept guessing till I got the right answer*

I was watching the opening of the Forensics that Bolt uploaded onto Youtube...

"Hey, I know that voice..."
*one Google later*
"LITTLE GUY IS DEREK STILES?"

Am I the only one who finds this rather unsettling, to say the least?
The comic book style of it is really awesome. I wasn't too sure how it'd work, but it seems to flow quite nicely.

Spoiler:
Personally, I think it's a freak of nature combining Butterfly Larva, Roselia, and Savato. The core is quite obviously inspired by some sort of Larva. Considering Monarchs are the vector, I can only assume butterfly DNA is involved.

Rosalia, that's a no brainer.

Savato, of the two Guilt that like the heart, the other being Paraskevi, there's one thing that makes me favor Savato. When you finish the match, you'll hear a remix of a semi familiar tune. It's the Advanced Savato Music from Second Opinion. It may just be artistic choice and nothing else. But I thought it was an overtly coincidental melody to be playing at a coincidental victory point.

I found it kinda odd at first. When I went back to Second Opinion, I heard Little Guy's voice clips-- all TWO of them-- and they were really raspy, like "*growl* ready?" so it's kind of jarring to hear him talk. IN COHERENT SENTENCES. In fact...
Spoiler: possibly spoilery scene near the beginning?
When Naomi's being diagnosed for her supposedly terminal disease that somehow happened, Derek is all "blahblah you have six months". After Naomi's all "KAY", she snaps out of her little flashback cuz of little guy going like "HEYHEY DOCTOR LISTEN" and... It makes me lol to hear the same voices back-to-back.
I'm pretty sure Yuri Lowenthal also voices Mr. Soldier Buff Guy That Gabe Diagnoses and Has a Three-Month Old Daughter B'aaaaawww... whatever his name is.

Haha, that little summary you did of that flashback scene is hilarious. I could just imagine him waving his hands in front of Naomi's face while saying that, trying to get her attention. XD I don't quite remember what his voice sounded like in SO [gotsa go replay now], but he was so much more terrifying in that game. He acted like a total emo kid, but he turned all giddy in Trauma Team. Does anyone have any guesses why?

Yes, Naomi is awesome. My favorite one is "We cry when we are born, what about when we die?"

I didn't cry when I was born actually. Funfact.

They say a baby who doesn't cry when they are born is born with a hole in their heart. O.o ... *backs away*

Oh, and completely off topic, before I was born, I took a dump inside my mother. When I asked her how they managed to get it out, I instantly regretted it.

Dylia, I feel your pain. I've yet to get a single XS on Orthopedics, even though I've got a decent amount on Surgery/First Response/Endoscopy.

Naomi's got some amazing lines, both in Trauma Team, and her retorts against Adam in Second Opinion.

Actually, what in the world was Stiles eating when he got his retorts...
Spoiler:
Adam: "This is mankind's first sin. Man created swords to kill, and was in turn
killed by swords. Don't you see? Man has always sought ways to achieve death."

Kimishima: "Even still, the swords we created could also be used to create
justice."

Derek: "That's not true! We created many other things in order to live!"

Adam: "Man crawls on the earth like vermin, only breeding and fighting for all
eternity. Yet you dare judge them... You, who lost the ability to die."

Kimishima: "No...I have to believe that all of us were born with a purpose."

Derek: "What's that even supposed to mean!?"

Adam: "For decades, the world's governments have financed the creation of
biological weapons. Airborne viruses that calcify the organs of their
victims...developed for war. ...Yet those same governments are surprised when
such weapons are used against them. Modern man is the very model of hypocrisy.
You glorify the discovery of medicine, yet hide the fact that the same knowledge
is used to create disease!"

Kimishima: "...Human history is one of mistakes, but there are those of us who
don't want to repeat them!"

Derek: "...And you'd rather create new ways for us to die? That's insane!"

Adam: "Nature mandates that mankind will eventually succumb to poison. However,
humans created their own poison, called medicine. It's delusion to believe you
can toxify nature to avoid your fate."

Kimishima: "Your poison isn't natural OR medicinal; it's madness!"

Derek: "No...it's delusional to dismiss peoples' deaths as 'fate.'"

Adam: "Mankind's greed has no ending... You continue to consume until even your
host is laid waste. Is survival that important? ...So important you would
trade it for the earth's destruction?"

Kimishima: "Even if greed does motivate some men, it can never overshadow the
compassion of others!"

Derek: "If people as a whole are consuming too much then maybe that's another
disease we need to cure...but we can cure it!"

Adam: "In young forests at the dawn of time, plants were born with the ability
to kill humans. ...such simple, perfect organisms. Do you understand the
meaning of such toxic flora? They demonstrate that all creation seeks an end to
mankind."

Kimishima: "Your old world, steeped in death, perished at the dawning of
civilization!"

Derek: "If humans are to be judged...it won't be at the hands of other men!"

Adam: "My beautiful, perfect image of death itself...which I have deemed Savato.
But...what if I told you this death existed inherently inside all human DNA?
...I merely gave it the chance to take shape. This is the death you have
denied. ...Our guide to the truth."

Kimishima: "If it's death you want, I'll be sure to give it to you!"

Derek: "Even if what you're saying is true, Savato remained dormant. We found a
way to overcome Death -- that was humanity's choice!"

It may be just me, but Derek came out as an idiot on a good majority of them.

That would be yours truly. The only restraint is that as of now I can _only_ get images from cutscenes - any gameplay segments simply do not work, including Diagnosis and Forensics. Any requests?

Was he just saying that we need to find a cure for obesity or something? O.o I swear, half the time it seems like he has NO IDEA what he's saying. XD Reminds me of the "I DISAGREE" incident...

I'm interested in anything you may find, including, but not limited to the template cards in forensics.

Actually, I need to get back to ripping Another Code: R at some point. Maybe I can find something to help rip Trauma Team. I did find a few different ripping tools... as no one in particular was good for ripping the whole game.

Well, due to the way I'm ripping these (dumping textures from an emulator) it would be much appreciated if you could snag a save near the end of the diagnosis/forensics missions in question so I don't have to play through them all again. The opening cutscene ones and post-operation ones shouldn't be too bad, provided I can find some way to hook my Wiimote up to my PC.

(Wooster, what sort of ripping tools did you use with Another Code R?)
