I'm still figuring out the mechanics introduced in Charlemagne, and I only recently began reading up on how the warfare mechanics work. Besides, I have yet to actually test out my anti-Mongol unit.

Edit: Okay. I think I have my alternative. A single army would number 28,600 men (10,800 in the center and 8,900 on each flank). It's not as perfectly-balanced as my first unit, but it's still got the right ratios necessary to encourage tactics that will exploit the Mongols' weaknesses while discouraging (sometimes even disabling) most tactics that would usually play into their hands. Luck is still a factor, though. I can't completely remove the possibility of the RNG rolling a combination of tactics that will get my forces crushed. If I've planned this out properly, the center will usually be able to hold against the Mongols' skirmishers and dominate during the melee phase. Meanwhile, the flanks will usually be able to counter the Mongols' skirmishers on their own flanks, defeating them and then coming to the center's aid. This is assuming I've planned it out properly; it still has yet to be tested.

I was worried bout Chrom because he had two barrack hearts with Sully but luckily no Support rank and he is with Olivia now to..... pair everybody up except MU because I got to do whatsherface support once I get her. And I am gonna get every single Girl Support to rank S. Luckily those marriages be save don Data 3. And then when I get their S support I rewrite Data 3 with the support at A. But to whom should I pair up with..... I know Thajra and Garius is the obvious choice. The others idk.

Nearing the end of The Last Story (Wii). It has been a troublesome ride. I had started playing the game over half a year ago, but because of a disc error I couldn't proceed in the game: the game just couldn't load past a certain in-game movie, not matter how often I tried (and I tried). But a couple of days ago, it finally got me past that point. And then I had to relearn the battle system again. The battle-system is kinda chaotic at times and like with Xenoblade, sometimes I think I've got it all under control when suddenly everything goes wrong without me understanding why (and vice-versa too), but it's a fairly enjoyable RPG nonetheless.

I'd have liked to try the Last Story if I'd had the time. I hear all of the Operation Rainfall games were excellent.

In Catherine, I've been trying my hand at Babel... people say you can't use a videoguide on the Babel stages because they are randomly set. Well, given that I've retried the stage about 10 times now, I can say that it isn't AS random as people say it is. I recognize patterns... farthest I got was 60 Steps, then I shot myself in the foot...

Really? The battle system was unique, but I found it pretty manageable. In fact, the battle system was my favorite part of the entire game. It was fun listening to all the characters interact with each other on the field and customizing their appearance, but the story was nothing more than cliche junk.

I would get one online, that is an option...

Except I have a £40 gift card for GAME...that I could overlook except...

I'm planning on trading my old 3DS XL in to exchange for it.

Well... Can you trade in your 3DS XL for general store credit, or is it a special promotion where it has to be in exchange for a New 3DS? If it's the former, you could just buy the New 3DS online, trade in your old 3DS, and then spend the gift card and store credit on games--it should all come out to the same cost in the end.
(Never heard of GAME, but I'm assuming it's a video game store.)

Well y'see it's more about saving money than 'store credit'. I'm not interested in any other games right now (indeed I made a pact to myself to not buy new games aside from this for now) so the store credit plan doesn't work because I don't want anything else other than the NewDS XL

Yeah I think GAME is a UK-only branch. It's the dominant games retailer here as far as I can see.

Store credit is good for a while, isn't it? I'm sure there's other 3DS games you're going to be interested in (otherwise getting a New 3DS seems kinda silly), so you can use your gift card and store credit then. When I said it'd even out, I meant more in the long run xP

I loved JUS! Especially the fact that less obvious characters also made it into the game (I mainly played as Houshin Engi's Taikoubou, coupled with a Strenght-character if I needed to switch). If only the stages had been more interesting.

60 steps huh? I'd be genuinely impressed if you reach the end of that level. I know it me hours to reach the end of level 1 from the tower of babel.

I'm currently resuming my Xcom Enemy within playthrough. I stopped because I couldn't clear the mission where aliens infiltrate your base (classic mode) after 5 attempts. That mission also takes around an hour to clear so it really got on my nerves. Lucky for me I cleared it on the first try after not playing the game for a long time.

Also Pierre you're now a max level sniper on my team. So congratulations with that.

Looks cool, though not quite sure what "Full Aim Medal" does, seems I've got a good track record.

It always really bothered me how in spite of being such a multi-national organisation every XCOM squaddie comes out in full blown American accents. Would just freshen it up a bit if they followed through with people's voices.

Eh minor irritating things, gotta leave something to improve for the sequel after all.

that medal gives +5 aim against enemies in full cover. I'm a magician when it comes to names.

Yeah I still enjoy the game to this day. I wonder what the sequel will bring us.

:larry: My current record is like 100 - 110 Steps. So close! I just lose it when I get the following blocks...
0-0-0
-0-0-0
Or similar. It confuses me, cause I forget all the "tricks" and techniques learned in the game itself.

Although if Altar is already 150 Steps, I am afraid to learn what the other steps are... though I will check videos on them.

Basically the same but
- more steps to be climbed
- smaller width of columns (meaning you have to optimize the small space you have without messing up)
- more 'trick blocks' instead or normal blocks.

Played through the first year of Grim Fandango Remastered. I love GF: I got the game when it was originally released (still have it, with the oversized box you always got with PC games!) and still occasionally played it, but it was getting harder and harder getting it to run normally on newer machines, so I got the Remastered version (also: I was interested in the developer's commentary). It runs a bit buggy though. And I know a lot of people asked for mouse controls, but I still think the old 'tank'-controls work better for the game, as there's no obvious UI, leaving just a clean 'in-universe' game screen. But at the core, still a fantastic adventure.

Though to this day, I don't get the puzzle with the sign in the Petrified Forest, as the thing revealed really comes out of nowhere...

I have the two Death Note games "L o Tsugu Mono" and "Kira Game". I honestly am not entirely sure what each of them is, though the Kira game seems to be a debate game. I thought either of them would have voice acting, but it doesn't seem so. Well, unless the background music having a line here or there counts.

Ah Valkyria Chronicles is a lovely game. Some plot misteps and a lot of passing the idiot ball in the end leaves a bit of a bad taste but the gameplay is nice as are the character interactions (though I feel they could go a bit farther). It's a shame they never brought the other games to a main console. I understand 2 is on PSP and 3 never made it to the West but I know for certain I'd buy another if it came out on a console.

True. And considering I still have enough on my account after the 200€ have been paid for the WiiU (technically a bit more than that) I could buy it... hence I'm gonna go to a Gamestop before getting Curry takeaway.

Also, playing Mario Kart 8, of course. Fun. Though my thumb hurts from having to press A down so much. (Maybe I'm too used to the large A button from the GC Mario Kart) And I'm surprised I had to unlock the feature of using Mii drivers.
And wow, you're offering me a Mercedes as Free DLC? Yeah not caring...

Well the voice acting isn't perfect and the story has some holes in it, but the game is nice for what it is. I'm glad I get to pick my own squad, which is solely based on preference of characters and not really strategic value.
Oh and I bought it on steam and not on a console. If 2 and 3 already exist maybe they'll find their way on there.

Nnnngh 2 is on PSP...have they ever ported PSP to the PC? 3 isn't even translated on it's home console so I can't imagine a translation would go to PC...

As strange as the sentence is I took a bunch of the racists. They all have good chemistry with each other and just do flat out more damage to their "Imp" enemies because...well Racism!

Also took plenty of Darcsens because those guys all seem really nice.

That's really funny when you think about it! I imagine it something like this:

Commander lady: Pierre you'll be commander of this squad of units! pick them carefully!
Pierre: Right! find me the biggest racists around here and I'll look for people who have been subjugated to racism for their entire life!
Commander lady: Why would you do that?
Pierre: Trust me! This is gonna work!

*day of battle*

Pierre: Raci... eh team 1 will storm the front! Team 2 will remain behind the tank to keep me company during a picnic.

And thus Gallia was cleansed of racists and the Empire threat.
Face your emptiness don't be afraid. The danger is often smaller than your fear.

XD That's basically exactly how it played it (including the part about keeping the Darcsens behind the tank, protect your engineers man) except the racists don't all die, they are too damn good at working together to die.
