No idea, it seems to stretch on forever. There are several playlists due to the endless grinding. The 12 shadows have just been defeated, if I recall correctly.

"Yeahno"? Which part?

Well you can't win them all. Something tells me they won't be ordinary boss fights though, since they're trying to make them somewhat sympathetic, although to be fair that's what they try to do with every single character even when you want to give them the slap of the ages.

Being a Sympathetic Villain doesn't help much against the AWESOME power of Armageddon *dons shades*

Also isn't Yukari just the WORST?

I'll state in 2 words why Persona 4's battle system is SOOO much better than 3's, heck why P4 is a much better game.

Spoiler: What in the blazes did I just watch?
So Chidori escapes, taunts the heroes and baiting them to follow her, and gets mad when they show up. The most threatening guy in the series so far is a shirtless emo hippie with a normal gun even when the heroes have not only weapons and a ROBOT which can shoot bullets through EACH OF HER FINGERS, but also the ability to summon mythical creatures en masse!

How is that guy a threat? Why didn't they do something? Was I supposed to feel something when the emotionless girl sacrificed herself? How is it a waste of the emo hippie's energy to PULL THE TRIGGER?!

This made no sense!

And Thane, yeah, that scene... I dunno, I guess you have to be invested in JunpeixChidori to really feel something. I overall always blamed the Visual Novel style in making that scene pointless for me, but I guess if you aren't invested in the romance there, it's kind of... meh. Also, yes. I never understood in Persona 3 why anyone was all, "No, it's too dangerous for you to walk around at night" or similar.
My main character has a freaking Evoker - it isn't a real gun, but it looks like one. And I can summon Personae if I want to.
I doubt that anyone can be a threat to me, given those two things.

Well you might be able to intimidate people with the fake gun but you couldn't summon Persona unless it was in the Dark Hour (and even then most folks would be wrapped up tight in their coffins anyway). Though I don't remember getting much "It's dangerous at night" anyway, I liked having the freedom to do stuff at night, guess it's an improvement in P4G.

I was more going for scenes in the game, where characters are walking the main character back to the dorm cause it's dangerous at night. Or being alone is dangerous. Or even that scene of helping Yukari. Both of us have Evokers and yet nobody seems to think of using them in terms of intimidating people. Yes, Japan has a strict gun-law, but Kurosawa could just say, "Oh yes. They have permission." and that would be it.

I think my problem was that I don't stop for Ice Break, I'd rather she healed, guarded or just hit the thing with her sword over a pointless move that won't matter next turn when I kill it.

Also Tentarafoo actually worked for me a few times XD

Hilarious comic by the way :kristoph:

I had the opposite. Misturu only ever used ice break on that one boss shadow in Tartarus right before the final day, the one that absorbed everything except piercing. Tenterafoo never worked, and Sexy Dance actually worked on one of the three knight bosses.
Still a lot better than Yukari's AI.

I mean it's easier to just say that it's a dorm for student with special attention or something like that. They explained that they were labelled like a school club, too much people wouldlove to have a shooting club.

On another note, I always used Aigis and Ken as a healer. Mitsuru is great, but lack intelliigence (which is very ironic when you consider that she is said to be very smart). But no one is better to heal the whole teaam than the main character.

By the way, it's known that Rise will be in Arena Utlimax but can someone tell me her title and why her persona changed to a fighting one?

My money is on the fact that her previous Persona was basically cemented to the floor. It looked more like a structure than a Persona as it tried to emulate a satellite dish outpost. It's completely non-offensive and stationary as it needs to hold a 'visor' over Rise's eyes. She needs a new persona that can justify combat abilities and actually moving with the Persona.

Woah woah woah, throw me a link because that's some nutty surprises out there!

I knew about Ken and Koromaru (though I haven't seen them yet) but WOW THEO is a playable character? Is he just a palette swap of Elizabeth or something? I'm happy but at the same time afraid because it means there's less slots for *censored because people are playing P4* the Persona 4 villain.

Ok, that was an exaggeration, but Yukari's AI never learned to use group healing when necessary, both before and after development. She preferred to use Diarahan on herself when Mediarama costs less AND would heal the entire party to full.

Akihiko is simple enough, he learns a good heal towards the end game and it makes him pretty much perfect. He's fast and hits hard and learns Diarahan. It's all you really need. His magic is enough to knock people down (which lets face it is all we use elemental magic for).

Though I find it surprising you had no trouble with Yukari's AI, it was the one that made me miss P4 the most.
In like the first tower-boss fight you encounter three birds. They are weak to piercing attacks and use wind. Since they use wind they will knock Junpei on his ass every turn and hit someone else with their extra turns. Yukari COULD knock them all down and save Junpei or allow an all out attack with her bow. However she instead opts to shoot the SAME one she knocked down instantly getting it up again where it'll proceed to destroy the party.

Oddly enough, when I first played that part, Yukari actually did the right thing and knocked down all three of them at once. Twice. It almost made me think I would actually like this character. Unfortunately, she never did this again, and preferred to finish off enemies with her arrows and forgo a one more.

I guess I got lucky with her in my play through. She wasn't fantastic, but she didn't screw me over or make rage either. She made more good moves than bad ones. Honestly, Junpei did worse than her for me. Then again, having the MC as my primary healer for most of the game probably contributed a bit.

First of all, a general question: who ARE Elizabeth and Margaret anyway, and how come the assistants at the Velvet Room never know anything of the outside world? I'm not too used to supernatural stories, so maybe this is just one of those things you're not supposed to get an answer to.

Spoiler: Secondly, the Journey and the Answer
So I just finished the first part called "the Journey" I believe, and now there's this epilogue-thingy where Aigis takes charge after the big bad was defeated. Honestly, I'm kind of glad, seeing as Aigis is, ironically, one of the two heroes who doesn't feel like a comlete robot (the second one being Junpei, but I still don't really like him). Although I guess I should mention the team becomes much more tolerable towards the rather confusing ending where they all lost their memories for five minutes, regained them and the protagonist decided that he finally couldn't continue life looking so silly with his hands in the pockets all the time and took a long random nap.

However, now in the beginning of the answer, after putting up with yet another robot and some more horrid voice acting, it seems like Akihiro and Yukari decided to become downright intolerable as opposed to being so uncharismatic they might as well fade into the walls.

Elizabeth and Margaret are the velvet room attendants, the 'ones who govern power' they oversee the Persona Compendium. Their duties in the Velvet Room mean they can't leave and I'm certain they come from a different realm or world already. They also have much much longer lives than humans. Maybe they are Gods or something?

Spoiler: The Answer
That are intolerable because they are grieving! That's why! GRIEF IS A REASONABLE JUSTIFICATION FOR THEM!!!

In all honesty Yukari was always intolerable, it's just you could always walk away from it before but in the Answer you need to deal with these people. I don't recall having much of a problem with Akihiko in the Answer except for him freaking losing his elemental weakness in the showdown later but I liked him well enough to begin with.

Man, gods in this series are really something, being defeated by/falling in love with high schoolers while gawking in wonder at fountains.

So I just finished watching through Persona 3, and all I can say is that it was like something out of a bad fanfic. Right before the end of "The Journey", I warmed up to the characters a little bit - maybe because they finally stopped dropping exposition and psuedo-philiosophical nonsense at me - so I thought hey, maybe this game's story wasn't so bad...and then "The Answer" came and it was so cringe-inducing that I simply don't know what to say.

Yeah... I dunno WHY they brought the Answer out. I mean... isn't the fate of the main character kind of OBVIOUS at the end of the Journey?

Spoiler:
I thought it was more about the characters coming to terms with the protagonist's fate, rather than spelling it out for the audience. It would fit in with the game's main theme of accepting death and its consequences. Sadly, the execution was just plain awful.

Mmmhmm that dead horse sure deserves that beating.

Spoiler: End of Persona 3
Though I agree, the Answer wasn't really about explaining what happened to the Protagonist though it does that, it's just about showing what happened to the rest of the SEES and how they coped with it. After all they get very little closure in the ending of Persona 3 especially Ken who like disappears entirely.

I dunno, I guess if the characters had actually been interesting to me (or, in Yukari and Junpei's cases, had not annoyed the shit out of me whenever they opened their mouths) I might've cared what happened afterwards. But since I don't ... also, what could change? They regained their memories and hence their supposed character development back. I'm sure Mitsuru is still taking over the company and all.

I'm no storytelling expert by any means, but if you're going to make us care about bland characters caring about a silent protagonist, then you shouldn't make said bland characters unlikeable. Akihiro flew off the handle twice when the dreadfully voice-acted robot said something, Yukari's bitch-readings increased exponentially, and the rest of the team were either still uninteresting or just whiny.

Do I think the Persona 4 team was a bit too happy sometimes? Yes. Do I think the Persona 4 characters were all flawless? No. But the main characters were ALL more likeable than ANYONE from Persona 3

While I'm still surprised by the quality difference in writing between Persona 4 and Persona 3, I'm now even more surprised by the difference between the mediocre Persona 3 "The Journey" and fanfic-bad "The Answer"

Sorry, I'll stop ranting now.

badtasters ahoy

And I guess I just don't get the intense Yukari hate here; sure she has ass moments but at least half the rest of the cast is just as bad if not worse.
