I am, though I'm not going to get the PSP or PS3 games since I don't like any other games on the consoles. Mabey if the PSP's price drops to $150 I'll get one, but untill then, no more new MGS for me. Larry *Prays for an Xbox 360 port of MGS4.*

MGS FTW. I haven't even played MGS3 yet, though. I look around for it in shops sometimes, but it's never there, so meh.

I'm getting a PSP soon, though, when MGS:PO comes out in the UK. I'll probably get VCS, MGS:PO and Elder Scrolls Travels with it.

PS3's a different story. At the moment, MGS4 is the only game for it that interests me in the slightest, so I'll have to see if any other decent games are announced before getting that...

I liked MGS 1, 2, and 3, didn't really care for the rest. Then again, three itself was a bit shakey for me, even if it did kick ass. The whole camo thing was fun, as was some of the boss fights.

The stories of the series (and Snake and his past) overall are fantastic, though there have been times where I felt I was watching a movie more than playing a game (especially in the Gamecube remake of the first game), but it doesn't irk me too much once it gets past the part.

So yeah, it's a great series. I hope MGS 4 isn't turned into an action-shooter more than a stealth-action game, though it does look that way already.

Loved 1 and 3, hated 2, don't like the look of 4.

Incidentally the original Metal Gear was ok, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake was horrendeously bad, as chronicled by this recap http://slowbeef.com/MG2/intro1.html

Apparently Kojima has a Star Trek rule.

all my friends recommended MGS1 in JHS andi got hooked :D
the only reason i got a PS2 was to play MGS2, it was good even though raiden was introduced :P
then MGS3 was more awesome :)
unfortunately i dont have a PSP so i cant get those games :(

The problem I've been having with the MGS series lately is that they keep releasing the latest games on systems I either don't want (PSP) or can't afford (PS3). At least Snake's going to be in Brawl. That counts for something.

I've not yet actually gotten to play the series, but I've been meaning to for a long time. Right about now though, that'd mean finding my PS2 memory card, which is far too much work. Also, my $4 won't pay for a copy of MGS. It's one of the games I've longest wanted to play though..

MGS4 is 1/2 the reason I'm going to get a PS3 later this year (the other 1/2 being Dante. I'm sure some of you are already familiar with my love men in tight pants who shoot things).

I haven't played Portable Ops (lack of PSP) but I intend to at some point. Gotta find a cheap, used PSP somewhere.

But I love the MGS series. I love the wacky sense of humor the games are able to pull off along with the action and drama. I know a lot of people thought MGS2 was a little *too* fucked up by the end, but I loved it! The crazier the better, I say. I can't wait for MGS4 (and Ninja!Raiden. Not many things can get a *squee* out of me, but that is one of them).

My thoughts exactly.

I really like the three MGS games, mainly MGS:2. The characters where cool (Snake, Otacon and E.E. to name a few), the storylines where interesting (though long) and hiding in a box sweetened the deal.

The ending to MGS:2 made me really want MGS:4. Edgeworth

Have Twin Snakes, never played MGS2, rented Snake Eater, MGS4 is one of the reasons I may buy a PS3. I love the series. It takes itself so seriously and not at the same time. It's ripe for parody!

My first Metal Gear experience was Twin Snakes. I instantly fell in love. I got the original version of MGS for the Playstation, but it's not as good, imo. MGS2: Substance is one of my all-time favorite games. I was hyped up for MGS3, but it was a huge disappointment for me. First of all, it's technically not MGS3 because it's a prequel, and I wanted to find out about what happened at the end of MGS2. Secondly, I really didn't like any of the changes to the gameplay much at all. I could rant on and be more specific, but I don't really see the need to here. I bought Subsistence anyway though, mainly to play MG1 and 2. MGS4...well, I'm not sure what to think of it yet. I kind of lost my faith in Metal Gear after 3.

Been with the MGS series since MGS1, which incidentally was my introduction to Cam Clarke and company. I've bought nearly all the Metal Gears since then, except Ghost Babel, Acid 1, and Portable Ops. I even bought MGS3 twice - Snake Eater the first time, and Subsistence the second time. I look forward to MGS4, but like most others here, I won't buy a PS3 just to play it. I want more exclusives to drive me to it, and so far, it's MGS4, FFXIII, and...that's it.

I bought the remake "Twin Snakes" and then suddenly fell in love with the series. (Yeah...that's how I am.) I mean, I knew about Metal Gear, but I was about 7 years old. Back then, I didn't care about games that required a lot patience...or extensive diolouge. That was just "Blah. Blah. Blah." to me.

The most memorable memory had to be dropping the control when Physco Mantis "read my mind" XD

It had funny moments in the beginning, but that's all I can give itThat doesn't really show anything, and quite frankly, was pretty mediocre. I mean, complaining about rations? "Yeah, get hurt, and eat food to restore your health! Ha! It's so stupid" I gave up on the second page, as it sounded as if he was basically just trying to find a joke in everything, mocking every single line.

That works fine for games like Phoenix Drive, but that game was from 1989, or so. What was he expecting? Yuusaku

Truth be told, I never actually beat MGS:3. I quit near the start and didn't bother to play it.

I've started a new file and was playing it almost ALL yesterday. It was a lot of fun especially considering I haven't played any home-console games in a long while.

Metal Gear Solid wins. I can play it on my PSP. But it's not just the 'Metal Gear Solid' games that're great. I enjoyed playing some of the original Metal Gear games, and some recent spin-offs like Metal Gear Ac!d.

For me, the fun of the MGS games isn't in the playing ot the games, but watching the person playing them.

I've watched/played 1, 2 and 3 and they're all just hilariously wonderful. They're brilliant games and the actual gameplay is incredible (coming from someone who doesn't like stealth games), the characters are all memorable (be it for being awesome (Snake, Otacon, Ocelot) or too awful for words (ROSE.)) and the sense of humor and attention to detail the games have is nothing short of brilliant.

That was a legendary quote! I remember that. Guns of the Patriots will r0x0r5. They should port MGS:PO over to PS2 coz I don't wanna have ta fork out two hundred-plus quid to find out what happens after Snake Eater. (I don't have a PSP...)

These games are awesome. I've played all the Solid games and I think they're all great. I've always loved the odd humor in them, such as some great conversations in MGS3 such as the glowing mushrooms and the cardboard box. Also, I've never really had a problem with it being like a movie with the long cutscenes. I like watching them. Long codec calls never really bothered me either.

Spoiler: MGS2
The Raiden and Crazy Colonel scenes were hilarious too. XD
