Yes. The FFX tunes are the regular battle theme, Otherworld (pretty much only used for Jecht battles in Story Mode), and Fight with Seymour is unlockable.

SWWWEEEET!

Seymour would be a boss then? Since he's not playable.

Ah well thats boosted my mood, can you choose any tune if you fight in say...a generic Versus match?

My friend tells me Jecht is a better one (who even some of the villains are slightly scared of) he used the term "Brave Raper" which I have no idea what it means but he says it works :yuusaku:

No, Seymour isn't in the game, you can just use his battle music.

And yes, during Quick Battle, Duel Coliseum, and online battles, you can pick whatever battle music you want.

I don't particularly care for Jecht in-game; he essentially doesn't have any long-distance moves. Which means someone like Terra can crush him pretty easily. :yogi:

That convinced me that Jecht is one crazy beast.

She does take some adjusting to (at least for me because I'm not used to magic users), but she has decent long-range AND close-range attacks so she's a formidable opponent if you know how to use her.

Meteor/Flood can be a nasty combo if you get caught with it, and Blizzara is a fast and powerful bravery attack so dodge or suffer. That's not even taking Holy Combo into account, which gets even worse when you throw Trance into the mix, since you can cast spells twice as fast in her EX Mode. Holy chained into Flare chained into Ultima chained into Riot Blade = GG.

Her only real weakness is that she's lousy at close range, and even then, you need to watch out for Tornado.

So yeah, if you don't close the gap on her and pressure her fast, she WILL pound you.

A character with no long-range attacks is obviously going to be at a disadvantage against a long-range fighter unless the former keeps on top of the latter.

And speaking from personal experience against someone who mains Onion Knight with minimal long-range attacks, Terra can definately be beaten. Our current record is 38-29 in my favor; I owe that mostly to being able to anticipate him slightly better than he does me.

Ok, maybe I'm the only that I play with it, but I have to say something for FF IV The After Years :payne: :

Spoiler:
Finally I'm in the last chapter, and it's too similar to Final Fantasy VI (because it's possible go around the world where you want for save the Eidolons and characters)...and the result is very amazing :gant: !

I'm finally on the moon, but level up all the characters like in FF IV is really difficult :keiko: , but the bosses (if you want to know, they all are Cecil's bosses memories) are funny and not impossible to beat :odoroki: !

I've actually been really enjoying the After Years (I recently beat the last chapter and I'm now playing around with figuring out all the possible band attack combinations and I'm working on a couple other things that I won't discuss as I'm worried about spoilers) and I'm a bit surprised by that considering Square's reputation with sequels. That's not to say that there aren't a few faults with the game, but my overall experience has been a good one. It's nice to be able to see that world again in a new light and see how the characters have developed. The new characters are quite fun as well.

I'm afraid that I can't add to the Dissidia discussion though having not played it, so please carry on. I just figured that I'd chime in my two cents since the topic came up.

I've played some of it as well, but I'm not too far. Only on Rydia's story. I'm too cheap to want to want to buy any more of the game. That's the only thing I hate about it. I wish the whole game came together instead of having to purchase all the separate chapters.

I'm kind of torn on the way that it was released, but my issues were not so much the money issue as my own impatience at having to wait. As far as money goes, it's lasted me a while now and, all together, it costs about the same of a DS game (broken down into small, manageable segments) which I don't find bad considering the amount of playtime that I'm getting out of it, particularly since this kept me entertained enough that I've only bought one other game over the last four months since the chapters started to be released and I literally only bought it because I'd been waiting for them to finally release the other game for a while. I actually need to buckle down and go play that one. The game's length is pretty decent even without including the Challenge Dungeons, so I'm personally satisfied as of now. Besides, you can pick and choose which chapters you wish to buy. You can even skip right to the final (after you purchase it) without importing any saves if you so choose or with a limited number of completed saves, although that will limit how many characters you have available to you and you'll miss some story elements so I don't recommend that.

I do have some issues with Wii Ware in general (this was my first time buying anything from it), but this is neither the time nor place to discuss that as they don't immediately involve any Final Fantasy games.

Everything is out now though to anybody who might be interested.

Anyway, once again, that's just my two cents. I'm feeling chatty tonight. :P

So there are repeat bosses? Are they requiring the same strategy as in the original or do they have some kind of new strategy/attacks that you gotta figure out and overcome?

Spoiler: Final chapter of The After Years
B8 of the Subterrane? If you just beat Scarmiglione, then you must be on Cagnazzo. There should be a crystal that you can examine. Do so and fight the Water Fiend. It should allow you to move on after that as long as I'm remembering correctly. A word of caution. When you get up to a certain boss battle, a special condition will be offered if Edge is in your party (well, it might work even if he isn't there, but I can't be sure as he was in my party at the time. Accept the condition offered. Your prize will be better then if you don't. I can give you more specific details if you don't mind some spoilers.

Spoiler: I phrased this as vaguely as I could manage while still answering the question
There are a bunch of repeat bosses. And sort of a mix as far as strategy goes. For the most part, things like weaknesses will remain the same, but a number of the bosses got an upgrade in power (both with special attacks and regular ones) and hit harder and faster then I recall. I do remember that I had to revise my strategy for a few bosses. Special note, Spider Silks and X-Potions are your friends. Also, pay attention to the moon phase as that can significantly alter your strategy. It's generally a good idea to decide which moon phase will be best for the fight ahead of time so that things are weighed in your favor (like if an enemy keeps throwing Meteor at you then lower the effectiveness of black magic. This will hurt your black mage as well, but at least Meteor won't destroy your team.

...Anyone know what affects your ghost rank in Dissidia? I had Terra at SSS earlier today, but now she's down to SS.

I honestly never bothered with X-potions in FFIV as my White Mage could heal loads more, but if they heal more HP, then I'll definitely be using those. Spider Silks are amazing though. Great way to slow enemies when they got those nasty magic counters. Zeromus from FFIV DS anyone?

I'd really like to know that too, as well as how they determine the personality of your ghost. I know it's playing style, but I wonder if there's an actual breakdown,.. like how many times you dodge/block or whatever...

Maybe I'll get the strategy guide for it and it can tell me something..

Zeromous was a cake walk, mind you by the point I fought him I was level 99 with everyone from tail hunting. White Mages were much better for me too you know?

Though really I'd rather replace Rosa with Yang but unfortunately in DS thats just not possible.

I was only in my late 70s myself without all the beefed up armor you get from hours of farming, but I had my augments set up to where I could pretty much take anything down. My only worry was having Rosa survive that one attack he does, and she barely did, so after that, it was really easy. If she died from it though, I would have been screwed. XD

Okay, I checked the in-game battle tips (does anyone really read those?) and it explained how to increase ghost rank. Basically, beat down strong CPU opponents and try to not just scrape through.

My rank probably dropped from losing to Chaos a few times in Duel Coliseum. It's back up to max.

And besides Chaos, Cloud of Darkness is not a good matchup for Terra. Friggin Wrath Particle Beam... :yuusaku:

Aaaahh.. that must be why my rank still sucks. I'm still farming to get better equips as my set up right now is horrible (and I still can't decide who to main). Yea I hate fighting Cloud of Darkness too, her bravery attacks won't give me any openings at all. ><

Have you beat Inward Chaos yet? I heard it's really hard. @_@

What I've been doing against CoD is keep a reasonable distance from her until she starts using one of her attacks, then smack her with a quick Blizzara before she finishes. That's a lot easier said than done on stages with only a couple places to stand like Planet's Core or Dream's End but yeah.

I haven't even unlocked Inward Chaos yet. Been farming for equipment components for the most part lately, but I've been slowly getting around to finishing the character stories I'm not too interested in playing.

I can't understand why there are people that still call "Final Fantasy IV" "Final Fantasy II" (the same thing with Final Fantasy VI/III) ! :chinami:

Any way, I don't think Square Enix is going to release The After Years in DSiWare (and buy it only for that game is non sense if you ask me) :keiko:

I need help with FFVI (GBA version), guys.

My team consists of Terra, Locke, Edgar, Sabin, Cyan, Gau, Celes, Setzer, Strago, Relm, Mog and Umaro. I was stupid enough not to save Shadow and I have no idea how to get Gogo. I've also finished all the sidequests and almost all my characters are in level 36 or something like that. Am I ready to take on Kefka or what?

Although... I wish the game could have lasted longer. :sadshoe: I loved every minute of it.

You can get gogo, by going to the place with the zone eater, and letting him inhale you.
And, you're levels are in the mid-30's?
My characters were in the 50's when I took on Kefka.
And the game is NOT over yet. :)
Kill all of the dragons scattered around the game and you'll know what I mean.
Spoiler: endgame
The almighty kaiser dragon. Also, you can steal ragnarocks off Kefka when you fight him. (More lightbringers!)

To be absolutly prepared:
Get as many celestriads (the relic that makes all spells cost 1mp) as you can. Kill brachosaurus (Pardon the spelling) to get em. Be careful when fighting these dinos, they enjoy casting ultima, then teabagging your partys remains.
Get as many of the (item that enables dualcasts) as you can (if getting more then one is possible)
And you will regret not getting Shadow
Spoiler: family secrets
He's Relm's father, you cruel bastard. How could you kill him like that?!

But... either way, when fighting kefka, if a character dies, he is immediatly replaced, so... yeah.
Anyway, teach all of your characters all spells from magicite. (Magicite increases stats when you level up [its kind of like the power items from D/P/PT or the augments from FFIV DS] and can be used for great justice durring battles)

I am a huge level grinder, so I always storm through the FF games.

Remember: Spam Ultima. It is so easy.

Got up to level 36? Is FFVI really that short, or am I missing something? ._.(*is probably going to buy it, so wants to know*)

I gots other questions...

How is the ATB system in FFV and FFVI Adv compared to FFIV Adv? I'm playing FFIVAdv (not very far... just got Eddy) and the battle system seems kinda... eh. I can't really pick out anything specifically wrong with it, but still... I don't know how to phrase it :yogi:

How is the job system in FFV Adv to FFIII DS? ...I did not like the job system in FFIII DS T_T

When (if ever) do they stop using those stupid crystals as plot devices? I do not like those stupid crystals....

All the screenshots of the games have characters with 9999 health. If I level up my characters to 99 (or w/e the highest level is) will they have 9999 health, or do I need to do something else/more?

The job system is similar, but when you level up a job class, you get some ability that can be transfered to another job (Like a Warrior that can summon ect) (time mage with white magic, ranger with black magic) (In V)
And to get characters with 9999 health, theres generally an obscure way:
Use specific Augments in IV DS
Cid automatically gets 9999 health in IV adv (At lv 99)
Use the Black Belt class in III
Give some random esper to a character and level em up a buncha times (In VI, I cant remember which esper though)
And V is fun. Shadowflare ftw. (Chemistry is fun in final fantasy).

The ATB system in FFV and FFVI advance are good. The battle system works great. Way better than the buggy version of FFIV advance. That was just terrible.

The job system in FFV is great and is fun to mess with. A lot more to fool around with than in FFIII. And yes, abilities can be transferred, although one at a time, to other jobs, so they are very customizable which makes for many combinations. I always enjoyed using jobs like the Blue Mage and Samurai the most myself. Blue Mages and Chemists though are considered the game breaking classes if you can use them right. I also find abilities of Thieves, Ninjas, and Archers/Hunters, even Animists, are pretty good. All the mage classes are also fairly good, though I don't really care to use the Red Mage. Granted you can get double cast, but honestly, you don't need it in this game and it takes too long. The dialogue is also amazing. Very humorous and light-hearted. You can also beat this game at low levels. This game focuses more on how you use your jobs rather than level grinding. And word of advice. If you get this game, run away from lots of battles so you can power up the best weapon in the game.

FFVI can be long or short depending on how you play it. I saw TheSpeedGamers beat it in 6 hours. It really depends on how you go about it. I would say Ultima is good, but it really depends on if you like using strategy or not against bosses. If you do, I'd say Ultima isn't necessary, but if you just feel like nuking everything in one shot, go for it, it just takes forever in a day to learn. It is a fun game though and definitely worth trying out.

Also, FFV is the last one to use the crystals subplot until FFIX. Personally, I love it, but that's just me. Granted it's old, but I like the nostalgia of it all.

Uhm... what? ._.

Spoiler: minor tales of symphonia spoiler-ish
Is it like those dark Tales of Symphonia weapons that get stronger as you kill more enemies, except... with how often you run away?
