How do I select a character's real colour/costume? Whenever I select a character, they have different clothes or hair or whatever. I want them to have the same look as they do in the character selection screen :yogi:

Although Ky-Kiske looks pretty cool with blue hair :-P

EDIT - This is now the Guilty Gear thread :maya: HEAVEN OR HELL? LET'S TALK!

Pressing the Punch button when selecting your character will get you the default color.

...what? Why would you play Guilty Gear with the nunchuk?

Play it with an arcade stick, or at least the Classic Controller.

Wasn't the Classic Controller banned because of that Anascape buisness? Or did they finally find out Anascape's a big fat humbug?

I don't have any of that. I'm fine with these controls anyway, I'm used to them and stuff :yogi:

Sorry for the double post, but I have one more question...

You know the special that I-no does where she fills the whole screen with warning/danger signs? Is there a way to avoid that?

The Megalomaniac(the attack you just mentioned) has three different versions:

1) She shoots the balls at a low then upward curve.
This one is very easy to dodge. Just go all the way to the other side of I-no, where your back is touching the wall. Then just duck down. She will shoot the balls, but they will miss you entirely. Keep ducking down until she stops firing.

Here is a diagram to show you what your position should be:
Image

2) She shoots the balls in a wave pattern.
This one is a little trickier. You have to get under the first wave in front of I-No, like this:
Image

But then that wave will slowly go towards her, in which you have to slowly walk along with the wave until it stops. Pay attention to when it does stop. Stay completely still until she stops shooting. Be careful not to get hit by the attack as you walk towards her.
Image

3) She shoots the balls in a large spread.
This one is the hardest to dodge, and you may have to practice it some. Right before she shoots the balls, you have to jump towards her.
Image

Then while you are in mid-air and she is shooting, you have to tap straight up to "double-jump" so that you don't end up jumping behind her. By the time you start to come down from the jump, she will have stopped shooting.
Image

Oh yeah, and one more thing:
DO NOT TRY AND JUMP
OVER HER WHILE
SHE IS SHOOTING.

The balls will then spread all over the screen and you will get hit no matter what.

you forgot to mention DO NOT HIT HER either.
they'll get a counter bonus if you do. and speaking of I-no's Megalomaniac, shouldn't you consider Faultless Defense as an option in case?

Hmm... Faultless Defense... I don't know what that is but it says in the manual so I can read it there :yogi:

If I'm I-No I can't do the Megalomaniac can I? :shoe:

Megalomaniac can only be done by CPU I-No, as she's the last boss of 1p mode.

Hold Punch and Kick together while blocking to perform Faultless Defense(well, any two button combinations except for Slash+HighSlash, and you can't use Dust). You receive no block damage, but it will drain your super bar. Once your super bar runs out, it will turn into normal blocking. If you had NO meter in your bar, then you will just block normally. Faultless Defense is really handy against certain Supers like Venom's big red ball and Megalomaniac(though you should just dodge them since it's easy to).

Alright, time for my thoughts on Guilty Gear.

I used to like this series a lot, as it was a nice and fresh alternative to Street Fighter games back in the day. I started with Guilty Gear for the PSX, and then when GGX came out, it felt miles better than its predecessor as it was graphically and technically more polished. I used to play Potemkin, until Baiken became a regular character and I mained her for a bit. Then I got back into Potemkin.

I used to play this game competitively, especially around the time GGXX came out. Played through #Reload, then Slash, which was my favorite because Potemkin received a lot of awesome tweaks(and also the inclusion of ABA, fuck yeah ABA rulez). After a while though, I started to get disillusioned with the game, particularly the community. The game itself started to get less fun(especially since I was shifting a lot more concentration to 3rd Strike), and the community had a lot more stuck-up otaku nerd assholes than cool folks. By the time Accent Core came out, I just stopped playing altogether.....which really pissed me off because Pot is considered top tier nowadays.

It's been a couple years since I stopped playing in general, but I still remember some stuff with Pot....just nothing advanced anymore or anything regarding Accent Core.

Okay let's just keep it open. This is now the Guilty Gear thread :maya:

I only started playing Guilty Gear on Christmas, so I've only been a 'fan' for a couple of weeks. But I'm already in love with it :acro: So far I've played as Sol, Ky, Dizzy, Zappa, Order-Sol and I-No. Haven't been Potemkin yet.

Only a few days ago, I found out Bridget was a guy! :lana:

Untrue. I believe either EX or Gold I-No is capable of doing the megalomania, it costs the standard amount and is done by hcbx2+S and can be repeated during the animation to FRC it out.
The only thing that's actually advanced about AC is the fact that you are required to watch your tension meter most of the time due to the implementation of Force Breaks, AKA: EX Moves.
What I do is go for lockdown with Faust or chip rush with ABA. Normally, once I chip a lot and the meter's low, I use the blood pack, thus gaining full life. It takes a brain to use ABA and especially against those who know how to use her.
And my real question is this:
Why the Wii version? The PS2 version is much better, and you can get an arcade stick for it for frickin' cheap.

To be honest, I don't see why everyone has a problem with the Wii one. I think the controls are really easy to use :shoe: But maybe it's because I haven't played any others yet :yogi:

Are there gonna be any other Guilty Gears coming out?

Anyway, I finished Arcade with Bridget yesterday. He's good :maya: I like his yoyo and teddy bear :minuki:

I've mastered the Wii controls, and now I'm learning the Gamecube controls. They're pretty straightforward, a bit like Street Fighter II :minuki: Knowing both controls will come in handy in multiplayer :godot:

And... Instant Kills... wow... they're great :keiko: Is it possible to do them with the Wii controls though?

I've also mastered Eddie now, he's one of my favourites :maya:

you're better off using a stick. I personally can't stand neither of the gamecube nor the wii controls. then again, i've been playing stick longer, but the wii controls are plain ridiculous.
And don't say you have mastered Eddie unless you've learned the combo he has with the shadow hole. Which is really fun to do because people get pissed at the lockdown it has.
And don't forget the EX Drill has chip damage, so try to setup with the EX drill and use it to push your opponent back. Do not forget to use distractions and lay traps. Especially against Testament/Sol/Chipp/Faust players. Works perfect against Baiken in case of attempts at a counter. You want to have a ton of mix-up in case they get smart.

When I say 'mastered', I mean practised and used in Arcade. But I have learned the shadow hole combo, I've learned all his moves :maya: I'm learning everyones' moves one by one...

Oh, the Gamecube controller is soooo much better than the Wii controls. Screw the nunchuk, I'm not using that crap xD And Instant Kills are sooooo fun! Zappa's and I-No's especially. I like Bridget's too :gant:

I'm not good at this game. I simply play.
Only way to piss people off with Eddie for sure is:
setup w/ summon eddie (qcf+P), move it behind your opponent and hit HS. rush with a dashing S, drill, P, and keep pushing them back. once they're snared, mix-up with various attacks of your choice, pereferably combos with the drills. Once you have at least 50% tension, fire away with the EX Drills. Even if they somehow recover and block, the chip damage is painful for them.
And personally, I'm a Faust player. Been with Faust since Reload. If you really want to get good, you'll have to play on a better platform besides the Wii. Or buy an arcade stick. I used to play controller (PS2) but got tired of it and now play my fighting games on stick. You should too if you want to get better.

Well in any case, playing with an arcade stick is the best method of getting a full experience from fighting games. It's tough at first but you'll get used to it quickly with practice. You'll even have better execution than from playing with a d-pad controller or especially the nunchuck. But I dunno if you want to play casually or not, so whatever. Choice is yours I guess.

P.S.- Soul Calibur's dumb.

and besides, if you really want to get good, the stick's the fastest way to get used to its mechanics. and most motions are so much easier with the stick, so consider that.

I find it easy :minuki: I think it's probably because this is my first GG game and I've never tried the stick. I even used the Wii controls at first :lana:

But I can't do the extra-extra-extra long combo that Order-Sol has yet :yogi:
