Right, so basically, I recently bought a cheap copy of Okami for the Wii, and since buying it I have seriously rethought my opinion of Nintendo. You see, I had been starting to tire of endless so called "Casual" Games (casual being a euphamism for sh*t) to the point at which I was playing my XBox more than my Wii. I am a massive Nintendo fan, but not to the point that I can forgive them for allowing awful third-party games like Carnival Games, and Eyesight training to besmich their consoles. I can see where they are coming from, they are trying to convert people who wouldn't normally play games, into seasoned gamers, but it had gone too far. However, I now see that Nintendo still has integrity.

Okami is a brilliant game, its even (dare I say it) better than Ocarina of Time. It recievd amazing reviews, and was hailed as a masterpiece, but for some reason, it didn't sell well on the PS2, in fact, it was a bit of a flop, ending up in bargain bins, and selling for practically nothing online. Anyone who was thinking purely in terms of business would have brushed it aside, and forgotten about it quickly, but Capcom went to Nintendo, who had the integrity to see it not as an unsuccessful business venture, but for the work of art that it is, and a Wii version was made quickly. However, the Wii version also sees disapointing sales and is going the same way as the PS2 version (I already mentioned that my version was cut-price). How is this fair, when games like Brain training enjoy incredible success.

So here is my plea. Buy Okami. If you like rpgs, or adventure games, or simply want a good game to play, find the money to buy okami, and show Nintendo, and all games companies, that we serious gamers are still here, wanting good games. I promise you, you won't regret it.

Absolutely Yes. Okami is a wonderful game.
Too bad it didn't sell well.
But, in my opinion, the PS2 version is better than the Wii one, but this one is another story.

I have the Wii for about 1 year now and the only game I play is Okami. The other games just don't hook me, I don't know why.

So, I'm gonna repeat it: go and buy Okami. Your eyes and ears will be grateful and, I assure you, you won't regret it.

Heh, Okami was one of my best videogame experience and I wish it could be more popular.
I tried to convince some people to play it, but because it's in English (a lot of folks where I live don't speak foreign languages) and because it's an adventure game, nobody plays it.

So, I try to convince people here on the net xD And so far, so good.

I've already got it. I didn't like it as much as some people, but only because I was shit at the brush thing.

But yeah, I'm sick of casual games too. Brain Training? Read a textbook. Carnival Games? Watch paint dry. Sight Training? You're playing on a GAMES CONSOLE, WITH A SCREEN, for God's sake. Etc. etc.

But now that the iPhone is starting to muscle in on the casual market, Nintendo are gonna have to make more serious games in order to keep a fanbase.

Honestly, I think the PS2 version is better.

It hasn't got any bugs (well, a few, but they are not dangerous, and one of them is really useful) and controls are better.

PS2 version may be a bitch to find however.

I know Capcom's offering Okami for Wii at 20$ on their site, but yeah.

To be honest, although I love Nintendo I don't care which version you buy, as long as you continue to support the manufacture of brilliant titles like this one.

I liked Okami, but I never really played it that much. However, I agree that it does need way more recognition from people (not counting myself as I'm gonna play it right now)

It's just a port with new controls. I don't think it's a matter of Nintendo slugging off their casual mindset for the sake of a brilliant game so much as fans said, "We want a Wii version!" and Capcom and Nintendo said "Okay."

But yes, Okami is an amazing game. It makes me sad that Clover went under so soon after making it. Now there'll never be a sequel! :larry: The soundtrack especially is amazing and I listen to it all the time.

I think it's astounding, if not incredulous, that one video game classified by Mr. Joe as "good" can single handedly restore the assumed integrity of the manufacturer in question.

Yes, but nintendo had to licence it, and would take some of the damage if it was a complete flop.

Not really. One of your major points is Nintendo's low standards. I can only imagine it went something like "Hey Nintendo, we want to put Okami on the wii. Look, you can use the wiimote for something!" And then Nintendo goes "Oh, ok, you're a real game company Capcom, we'll put out whatever the hell you'll give us." and licenses it.

I do think it's kind of ironic that when Okami came out everyone said "Wouldn't this work better on the Wii?" but when it finally got there... it didn't. It's too bad they didn't spend more time fine tuning the controls.

Sir. Nothing, NOTHING, is better than Ocarina of Time.

I agree Okami was a fantastic game. The fighting fit well(though it was a bit hard using anything other that the whip like weapons with the Wii remote), and the character dialog was hilarious.

Check who made the Wii version. It certainly wasn't Clover. It's some no-name studio that only does ports, and likely badly.

Right, this should probably have its own topic, but since it doesn't I'll address it here. OOT was an amazing game, but fans of it need to move on and embrace new games. I mean its over 10 years old and its starting to show. Nothing will ever replace the good memories, but it can't be the best forever, something will come along and take that title from it, and Okami could be that game.
