Yeah, that is very convenient. No more pressing a button with your finger to trigger an action, just tap and go.

How did I forget about the menu interface? It's the second best new thing in the game, next to the
MUSIC!!!!!
Now I can register the bicycle and the Dowsing MCHN and use them with the touch of a button, toggle the running shoes on and off without holding down a button, use the A button via the touch screen, and never have to press the X button to open the menu (In fact, you never even have to open the menu because it never closes! So convinient)
Oh, and I've found that the encounter rate drops significantly when you walk. Now I always walk through the tall grass and caves and any other place where wild pokémon are.
The Voltorb flip seems to me like a combination of Minesweeper and Picross. Very addictive, though. The inability to lose anything in the game is a nice touch.
Oh, and Yaragorm... I don't suppose you get your mail from a Delibird, keep a Houndoom as a pet, send your mail via carrier Farfetch'ds, and fly via Fearow as opposed to an

Once you see one in the game (I'm fairly certain there's a few at the normal-type gym, but I don't quite remember at the moment), just ask for one on the GTS in Goldenrod. Offer up a HeartGold exclusive, or at least an uncommon Pokemon and you should get one in no time.

Well, if Serebii.net is to be believed, the Vs. Seeker mechanic has been replaced by the aforementioned phone call rematches. It's seems so archaic compared to high-production value that went into this game and it's bugging me a lot.

Incidentally, if you think the themes on Youtube just aren't long enough for your listening pleasure, I recommend these two users. They've uploaded a great majority of the epic themes in this game and they've been extended to 10-11 minutes long! They also have other extended stuff from other video games too.

Hmm, I'm not far enough through the game to be annoyed, but this does seem a step back. I remember FRLG's 'nostalgic' features also made breeding on that game insufferable compared to RSE...
But they didn't wind back the IV/EV system to GS era, which is the worst failing of the ancient games.
So far as I'm concerned, the positives of this game way outweigh the lack of Vs Seeker though. Particularly the WALKING function. I'm happy, this is WAY better than their Amnity Square tech demo of it in DP. The Pokemon do such a vast range of things, and location-specific ones too. Legendaries like Ho-oh and Lugia are actually pretty easy to catch while a level 6 metapod can't even be caught with an Ultra Ball on the first 3 tries.
In fact, not even Quick Balls work very well. It seems that Dusk Balls at Night or in Caves are the only way to go if you want to catch Pokemon.

Gold/Silver kinda mashed the original theme by making one portion of it longer, adding an intro, and some other stuff.
In HeartGold/SoulSilver, they mashed it up even more with pianos, rock music, and lots of other effects. In fact, It's almost impossible to even get the theme from it until listening for a few hours. But once you do, it remains faithful to Gold/Silver's except they added that same new little part from FireRed/LeafGreen.
I actually hate the Wild Kanto theme, they ruined my favorite part of the original song...
I love Celadon, Fuschia, and Lavender Towns themes though.

Also, I just noticed that the HG and SS symbols look like Ho-oh and Lugia...

What I think, is that people will get the Pikachu-coloured-Pichu to get the event Spiky Eared Pichu, then ditch the PCP and play with their new one. The problem is, Spiky Eared Pichu doesn't evolve, and can't be traded either. That, along with its poor stats really discourages serious use in teams. There's also the fact that because the shiny PCPichu is downloadable via mystery gift, it will lose its shiny value, and each and every downloaded shiny Pichu has exactly the same nature, stats and moveset, and they're not the best for competitive battling either.
It will make Pichu more popular and will probably encourage Pikachu and Raichu to be on others' teams, but I doubt they would use these two Pichus in particular.

It happended in Viridian Forest. The capture rates are indeed very screwed up. Even a level 18 Magikarp needs like 3 tries to catch...

I got Soul Silver and started with a Chikorita. Beat the first gym leader. But the second gym leader is some bug-type Pokémon freak. I'll never beat him.

Ah, then in that case you either:
-CHEATED,
-cloned your pokeymans, or
-somehow managed to bring them over from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen/Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.
For some reason, I get the feeling it's not the 3rd one.
I used Dusk balls to catch every legendary I've caught in SoulSilver. It's more work, but it feels much more fulfilling when you finally catch the damned thing.
(And on another side note, I caught ZAPDOS! Hell yes!)

He's not that hard, he's only the second leader. CHIKORITA was my starter and I beat him easily. Although, I might have used an ONYX for that (unless I'm mistaken, there's a guy in the first or second town with a gym that will trade you his ONYX for a BELLSPROUT).
