Is it worth? What can we do with it? What does Nintendo do to its users? Remembering that the channel can download legal softwares, even if some dudes download ilegal. Well, summing everything up, it is a topic to discuss Wii Homebrew Channel![duh].

It's illegal, So I've not got it.

A have a "friend" (not anymore) who's obsessed with Homebrew & R4. And now, I'm reporting him. I can't make him shut up about it!

I use it, in waiting of StillAlliveDS's creator's StillAlliveWii, and for watching DVDs. Also, I had to download the Internet and Nintendo Channels from there, since the Wii Shop Channel doesn't seem to cover my country.

I've got it. It's nice having a Game Shark type device built into to the game console. That and playing SNES hacks on the TV > on the Computer, even with a USB controller. I've been playing a Super Mario world hack with my Dad. It feels really nostalgic because it's the same music and environment we had almost 15 years ago but with new levels so I'm not relying on my memorizing the levels to get by.

Got it too, although my Wii is being generally slow as of late. Because of Nintendo's honestly retarded stance on region settings on games, it's the best way to get those early imports working.

This is news to me O.o;

Well, Nintendo did announce on E3 some (but not all, of course) of the nicer features the Japanese Wii owners have been enjoying are finally coming to North America. Amoung them being the ability to watch TV and Movies via the Wii free of charge (the strings on the latter, I bet).

I just want an AR Wii and then I won't give a damn =D

The program you're after then is Geckos, run it through the homebrew channel and you have a method of running codes on your games.

Personally, I find it more convenient in a way then the old AR system, as it's like having AR built into the Wii

I wanted the Homebrew channel, so I could have a little fun in Brawl (moveset swapping) but I didn't know updating to Wii Menu 4.0 squashed the Twilight Hack bug. So now I have to wait for a new bug or something to get it... :sadshoe:

It won't be long before that "friend"'s gone.

I hope this warns you why NOT to use Homebrew.

Would you mind talking in English? I don't know your friend, and thus far, I've not alienated anyone I know due to installing the Homebrew channel on my Wii. Therefore, I can't see any persuasive point behind that post.

It's not illegal to own homebrew channel or cheat on games (but not online, you'll lose internet priviliges) and you can easily make your Wii a different region and so on. I just play DVD and (rarely) burt games, which are legal in my country.

Sure, Cheating's not illegal, but Piracy is. You can download Wii games on it you know.

And if I weren't speaking english, You seem to understand me quite well. :P

I do own it, but I found myself unable to install any wad. files.

I needed to downgrade the wii or something and I feared anything would go wrong.

Still, the homebrew games can be quite good. I actually enjoy Quake wii. :phoenix:

there's a big difference between "can" and "must". while you can load pirated games using the homebrew channel, that's not its sole purpose, most of the functions are perfectly legal.

You -can- download music on the internet illegally. It doesn't make the internet illegal.

I use it to download smaller free games to play (or emulators- I've been on a Mahjong kick recently and since WiiWare Japan doesn't seem to like my CC I download Japanese NES/SNES mahjong games). I also use it to help me make North American games play nice with my Japanese Wii.

Nothing wrong with homebrew, I enjoy playing games and apps made by small-time developers that have potential. I haven't had the chance to hardmod my Wii for it, once I get a 2nd one though, I'll consider it.

Nintendo's trying to bust down any homebrew by firmware updates, last time I heard Moonshell doesn't work anymore and neither does region unlock disk... Freeloader I think it's called.

I'm, actually being the one ganged up on.

Downloading movies, games, and music is perfectly legal in my country, and that's why I own SBK, World Tour, and Tales of Symphonia 2.

And, homebrew is used to read piracy, not obtain it. I think everyone who has any idea about Backup Launcher 0.3GAMMA knows about this fact. WADs have to be obtained by hand and so are games.

And, since my Internet is nuts... again... I can't do nothing now. Thank you. I only play GCN games (actual disks) now. I got Double Dash SE, so I'll play it and beat it.
