I think D/P's story was poor & Platinum's was Ok.

I really liked PMD2's storyline, I somehow think I'm the only one though.

Nah PMD was surprisingly good. Makes me wonder why they can't have some higher quality like that in the main series :P

Jake Hunter Detective Story: Memories of the Past was pretty nice. Got weak towards the end, but picked up during the finale case.

This is about the story, the gameplay is a bit lacking though... :grey:

And I definitely preferred Ranger 2's story...

I agree with Professor Layton having good story (although there's often more puzzles than story), as well as Fire Emblem, Time Hollow and TWEWY. As for Final Fantasy, I'll save judgment for after I've played the games through in their entirety. I have also heard that Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor was good, but I won't say if I agree until I've played it.

Some on the top of my head that haven't been mentioned yet:

Rondo of Swords - didn't finish it yet, mainly because it got hard... but the story that I've seen so far takes a different spin on things.
Suikoden Tierkries - very interesting story, plot twists, and parallel universes!

Keep your eyes peeled for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (comes out in a week). They promise it to be a good story, and I'm really hoping it is.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones for GBA

It outclasses Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (the only FE game on DS to my knowledge) by far.

Agreed. The other US released one, just Fire Emblem, is good too.
FE:SD is based off a reaally old game, so its storyline is pretty bad in comparison to the other FE jewels...
Not to mention the new battle animations hurt my eyes. What's wrong with some 2d every once in a while? ):

I know FE:SS was so...stylish with the swoosh of the swordmaster's critical and the satisfaction of the Hero's fluid attacks plus the designs for the characters were beautiful too (I love Joshua) but then I got to the horrible SD ones where your forces are barely distinguishable from the enemy's.

Yes! Swordsmasters are my second favorite class, next to heros. :3 Joshua's really cool, but I think Jaffar is my favorite character throughout all the FEs I've played so far. I haven't played SS in a while, but I remember liking Ephriam's pre-evolution movements a lot too.

I've already been spoiled on a lot of it, and it's pretty awful. Even worse than KH2s.

Really? I was curious why they would go back on the now gone Organization XIII story. I was considering getting it for the story, but if it's really that bad, then I won't bother and just wait for Birth by Sleep.

Well if you think KH2 had a good plot, you'll probably like 358/2. If you're one of the sane people who realized KH2's plot was terrible, than you won't like 358's plot.

And BBS will probably be just as bad. I'm assuming the entire story will continue to be shot to hell with nomura at the helm.

Yes it was. <3 So many Lyns on screen at once...
Lyn is one of my favorite characters too. :D And not just because she resembles a swordsmaster. Or because my name is Lynn.

Didn't think KH2 had the best of plots, I just got it for the gameplay. As I'm doing with BBS (that, and I'm curious about the new story and characters, as well as a reason to dust off my PSP other than the new Persona games).

If you like the gameplay, I'd still pick up 358. Played my friends import copy and the gameplay is top-notch. (The only reason I'm picking it up. Fun Gameplay + Disney is the only thing that brings me back to the series)

Lyn was awesome lol.
The fact that she could use bows was just
amazing lol.
I loved the erk/serra subplots durring the game lol
the game was sad though...
Spoiler: sealed sword
prince zephial goes evil and you have to kill him after saving him in that annoyingly long chapter in Fire Emblen (original)

If we're talking about the next Kingdom Hearts game, I plan to get it...it doesn't matter if the story sucks. But that's only because I never played a Kingdom Hearts game before and my friends are all fanatic about it.

So the fact it's gonna be on the DS is my only chance to try the franchise out...

Advance Wars...

Not dual strike. That has a terrible storyline.

Days of ruin has a decent one...but you have to work for it, which isn't as easy as it sounds due to the vamped up difficulty of the freakin' campaign.

Seconding the Mario & Luigi games! You're still following the basic plot of find-the-pieces-of-something and save the princess, but the dialogue's great and the timing-based combat are a lot more fun than your run-of-the-mill RPGs. 8Db

The story might not make any sense to you at all. D: Even some people who have played all the games thus far don't understand everything about the plot. But if you're just getting it for gameplay then I'm sure you'll have a blast lol.

Also, professor layton and the diabolical box was released awhile ago.
Verrry interesting story.

Honestly, there are a ton of storyline-heavy games. The deciding factor in a game is not generally the story, but how well the story fits the gameplay.
Take my example of Castlevania for example.
Every single game (with a couple exceptions) is based on the same plot. Gain Vampire Killer's full potential and kill Dracula.
But people keep buying them because the story changes a tiny bit between games.
The gameplay balances perfectly with the story.
Now... a game like Final Fantasy Tactics Advance...
The story is terrible, too heavy, and it sucks compared with the gameplay (which sucked a lot in my opinion)

Problem is that it was so damn hard :edgy:
Ahh.... it took a darker tone from the series, which I liked.

I'd play Dual Strike for fun, Dark Conflict for story.

There was nothing more satisfying than tagging and anniahlating your opponents forces plus the sheer amount of CO's made me happy.

Dark Conflict was a completely new step for the series such a shame EVERYONE completely left.
But I suppose it allows the story completely new options...a complete revamp.

I was kind of disappointed with Super Paper Mario; I didn't feel it lived up to the humor in TTYD. :yogi:

Eh, haven't played it in a while so I don't know specifics, but I remember there were SOME parts that were funny. Just not as many as in TTYD(imho).
Plus I didn't really like the new squareish art style for most of the characters, so maybe I'm a bit biased. :3
