Fascinating. You can actually climb ladders. I wonder if you can attack from them. And I don't know what you guys are talking about, but moving screen levels have always been my favorite. It gives the stage some dynamics. I mean, you can't just spend all your days on a giant flat stage without platforms in a Marth vs. Fox match. 'common it's there to have fun on. |

I am fine with the stage, but I don't want the stage to scroll up really fast when mario is climbing a long ladder. |

Today's update marks the return of Yoshi (though he's pretty much been semi-confirmed for some time now). Aside from some cosmetic differences, Yoshi seems the same, but it seems his B-Up move, tie Egg Toss, can now be used to boost the distance of his jumps. I wonder how, though. Also, there's an odd picture of Yoshi doing... something on DK's head. I thought he was hitching a ride at first, but Yoshi riding someone else is a bit contradictory. >_>; |

W00t! Yoshi! I'm glad he got some more jump. I had a hard time recovering with him sometimes... His little flutter jump just wasn't enough when I got knocked hard. *Waits for people to tell her she's a pathetic player... They're probably right.*

So now we have Skyworld, a stage modelled after Kid Icarus. The floor of the entire stage (including the platforms) are destructable, making the stage a perfect environment for spiking. |

Today's update is a new technique called the Footstool Jump, which allows you to spring-jump of an opponent's head. It can also be done in mid-air, and results in a meteor smash. I can see something like this working very well on the right stages, like Skyworld, and as a neat recovery option. |

| Post subject: | Re: Super Smash Bros Brawl |
Well, recovery is only possible when there's someone else in mid-air too, and I'm not sure if opponents are that silly ;p It's a good way of balancing, though, since everyone has at least one equal Meteor Smash now. |

Tinker wrote: Imagine Link being footstooled. Or Pikachu footstooled by Bowser. Now what exactly doesn't suit? :p Another friend of mine and I agree that if Giga Bowser footstools anybody, it should be an insta-kill. Anyway, I don't mean to drag this conversation back to last week, but I figured I'd throw my two cents in on the "This world..." update. Taking into account the placement of the text relative to the pictures, I don't think it's the handshake between Mario and Kirby that leads to the "rule-breaking." After all, that part of it isn't even mentioned until Meta Knight's ship appears. I think the hand-shaking is just good sportsmanship between Mario and Kirby (after all, just because they exist to fight doesn't mean they can't be respectful of each other). If anybody's breaking the rules in the Smash World, it's Meta Knight. Riding up in the Halberd, that's certainly not an entrance that any ordinary trophy need make. In the games he appears in, MK is usually an independent and an instigator, I'd say it's very much in his character to take action to break the cycle of constant battle. Thus prompts the "terrible price" indicating the purple guy. As to whether he's the mastermind behind this world, a new minion, or even one of the trophy fighters paying the so-called price, well we won't be able to tell anything about that unless Sakurai makes another story update. Provided some very interesting food for thought, though. |

Not to sound retarded, but is this MetaKnight Halberd business in one of the videos? Because to be honest, you're losing me.

No, the Halberd appears in one of the screenshots in the "This World..." update that was posted a week ago. The Halberd is Meta Knight's personal warship, so assumedly he's the one controlling it when it shows up. |

A new AT has been revealed. Knuckle Joe, from the Kirby universe. He starts out with an attack called the Volcan Jab, which looks like a barrage of flying fist projectiles. After that, he can do one of two different finishing moves, the Smash Punch and the Rising Break. EDIT: Anders, I figured the "breaking the rules" part applied more to Mario bringing Kirby back from his trophy form rather than their handshake. The text seems to imply that being in that form is like the equivilent of death, and that trophies are only brought to life to fight one another and nothing more. In that case, Mario broke the rules by not only saving his opponent from "death", but also not fighting with him anymore. Also, don't forget that the Halberd is also a stage. I think it's the only one left from the original trailer without an update on the site. |

New ATs give me a bit of a "meh" feeling, since it's a very, very minor thing. It's great to see how the graphics are shaping up, though. |

Knuckle Joe seems good like the rest of the assist trophies although it seems like he can deal a lot of damage or instant death. |

Today we have DK's final smash, the Konga Beat. DK pulls out a set of the DK Bongos and starts playing, which draws in the other players. With button presses timed to the music, the pulling effect becomes stronger. After that, DK does a series of damaging claps. I like how they used the actual bongo peripheral for the animation. The timed button pressing seems interesting, too. |
