Today we have an item from Animal Crossing, the Pitfall. It's a sphere you can throw at the ground to bury it, and anyone who steps on it gets caught in a pit for a little while. Hitting someone with the sphere has the same effect. My favorite part is that the character who activates a pitfall on a drop-down platform will actually be dropped through the platform. I can see some good combination tactics when combined with a well-placed motion-sensor bomb. |

Heh, I actually discussed this item with my brother two weeks or so ago, saying that'd it be a good choice for Brawl :D Anyway, it looks like it does the same as D.K.'s B-Side attack, except for the falling through platforms thing. |

I wonder if people can fall through the stage's main platform with use of the pitfall. |

You only Pitfall through floors you can normally pass through by pressing down on the Control Stick. The main platforms of a lot of stages aren't pass-through, usually. |

There we go. The first actually "new" new (aka interesting) thing to be announced. That took, what, twenty or thirty weeks? |

I'm not sure if I'm more excited than relieved or vice-versa. I thought Fire Emblem would either go unrepresented or just get a returning character, but this is great. ichigo wrote: The first new character since E3 2006 when the game was announced. ![]() E3 was in May. Me neither. I never knew who Ness was and what the Fire Emblem is until the Super Smash Bros series. So to be honest, I just don't care about Ike though he's looking better than Marth and Roy. I just want some more info on Solid Snake, I fear that he may be dumbed-down too much in this. |

I thought Fire Emblem only came out on handhelds... the game seems WAY too simple for a gamecube... Oh, but yeah. This interests be very little. I barely even know who Fox is, And I never played Kid Icarus. So all I'm thinking is 'yeah, okay. So what? NEXT!' here :P

Mikker, you need to play StarFox 64. It's easily my favorite Space shooter title. It honestly owns over the two Game Cube StarFox titles (Though one wasn't supposed to be a StarFox title, but that's a discussion for another thread) |

So the castle is indeed the FE stage. It seems good, especially the "layers" that Castle Seige seems to have. The breakable statues are a nice touch, too. And of course, this is probably the reason they released Ike yesterday, but I'm not complaining.

The castle seems cool with multiple layers and it seems like a good stage. On a seperate note Shiek and Ganondorf are confirmed to be in Brawl in a interview with Aonuma on the gaming magazine Game Informer http://gonintendo.com/?p=22340#comments |

Today's update was quite important, as it revealed Adventure Mode: the Subspace Emissary, a true side-scrolling adventure with a real story, and even full cutscenes. There's more, though. The common enemy in all this, the purple-ish creature from the "???" update seems to adapt to the fighter, with the one facing Samus using her charge beam, and the ones Battling Metaknight using moves ans swords similar to his own. On top of all that, Peach has also been revealed. Great stuff. EDIT: A YouTube version of the movie, as a lot of people seem to be having trouble viewing it. ichigo wrote: The castle seems cool with multiple layers and it seems like a good stage. All it says is that they passed along the character design, not that they're officially in. |

Oh yes, StarFox 64 is easily one of the best titles for that console. What makes it great (aside from the great gameplay) is the replay value. Like Smash Bros Melee, the Main 1-Player mode is meant to be able to be beaten in a single play through. However, there are alternate paths so it doesn't feel like you're doing the exact same thing over again. You'll also learn the origins of "Do a Barrel Roll" |

There's a ton of classic games on the N64... I think a lot of people went "meh" at it and got a PS1 instead sadly. There are many games on the N64 that haven't been bettered since in their series. |

Yesterday's update was the best update by far, imho. Now all that's needed to make my happy is a confirmation of online play, and all is good. Also, I get a strong feeling that Palutena (the green-haired someone in the screenshots) will be playable. As for the castle update, I'm willing to bet that underground = lava stage + a dragon. |

Is it just me, or has Mario changed from that Goofy plumber guy, into an emo that's trying to compete with Cloud for kick bottom-ness or something? He just seemed 'too' ready for action in that trailer. |

| Post subject: | Re: Super Smash Bros Brawl |
"Goofy" isn't really how I'd describe Mario, even in other games. He's a hero then, and he's a hero now...and thus, acts like one. But I also like to think that Smash is the darker end of the Nintendo universe...I mean, there's been stuff like Giga Bowser, fighting wire-frames, and not to mention that, now, there's even going to be character development. Character development... in my Nintendo? That's a new kind of awesome. |

I would have to disagree with Mario being a hero. He's pretty much always been established as a rotund fat plumber. But lately they seem to keep making him 'extreme,' like on the Mario Striker's covers and Smash Bros. promos. I agree with Wooster; you'd think Nintendo would shy away from 'Serious Business'-ing up Mario considering how well that worked for a certain other mascot. |
