Square Enix recently announced a brand new IP entitled Murdered: Soul Suspect. The title is said to be an action/adventure game about a detective solving his own murder. Sound familiar? Yeah, I immediately thought about Ghost Trick, too. Anyways, the first full trailer was just released today.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CeWsTEOZYo

It's planned for Q1 2014 for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC; but curiously, no next-gen consoles. To me, it looks like a combination of L.A. Noire and Ghost Trick, but it still looks like it's going to be an interesting game. The overall atmosphere is very film noir-like, but still feeling modern at the same time. My guess is that it'll have a neo-noir setting with some fantastical elements. I personally love film noir, so this could be an amazing game for me! Still, it's too early to make any sound opinions since we only have this one trailer. More details are to be revealed at E3 2013 next week.

So what are YOUR opinions on this game from the first trailer? Do you think that it'll be amazing? Will it just be a rip-off of the previous games I mentioned? I'd love to hear from you guys.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post! Cheers. :will:

Gameplay wise it does indeed look similar LA Noire which looks promising. I won't hold my breath though since I've grown bitter with games nowadays. I need to have fun when I play, and not find them a chore. Looking at you Hitman Absolution and Assassin's Creed 3.

Well, if you can read through all of the countless lines of text in Ace Attorney (or any visual novel for that matter), than I'm sure that this game won't be too much trouble. :redd:

Joking aside, I agree that game's shouldn't be a chore to play. I've always wanted to get into the Assassin's Creed series, but never did before. I hear that they're good games, but nowadays there's little variety between each installment. IDK.

If you want a REAL game that's a chore, though; I recently beat the original Dragon Quest a few months ago. Man, was that tedious. Seriously, take ANY tedious RPG with lots of EXP grinding and make it ten times worse; and you have Dragon Quest. And this is me playing the Super Famicom version. The original NES version is even worse. Still, DQ DID set the standards for all RPGs to follow; so I can't really deny its historical significance. Oh well, nine more games to go! :phoenix:

Back on the subject at hand though, like I mentioned before I think it's still too early to make any real assumptions on the game. I'm sure that we'll all be able to make more firm opinions when gameplay is shown at E3. I really enjoyed L.A. Noire with it's detective gameplay and amazing graphical technology. It could get a little tedious at times, but for the most part it was a surprisingly enjoyable and innovative new IP. Too bad Team Bondi's pretty much dead now. :sadshoe:

What's there to solve? The killer is right there.

But gritty Ghost Trick, eh?

The trailer doesn't show any gameplay or anything, so it's kind of hard to make any judgments.

I wonder if it'll be an actual mystery, or some sort of action/whatever game with a mystery in the backdrop.

It looked like brief glimpses of gameplay. We have detective man ghost looking at blue scribbles and stuff, but what does it mean?!

Hmm, I'm getting a lot of L.A. Noire vibes here. I hope that the final game will manage to be something that's feels familiar but fresh at the same time. It should be a very interesting game to keep track of in the coming months.

LA Noire was nice in that it let you skip combat and action sequences, with the stipulation that you had to fail them enough. I'm decidedly not a fan of gritty combat games, so I'll have a vague eye out for this.

I never used that feature (or anything that even resembles Nintendo's Super Guide) because I wanted to feel the satisfaction of actually getting through the action scenes. Still, I think that allowing players to skip them entirely is a great feature. That way, those that prefer the investigations and story can still get through the game. I wonder what the action scenes in Murdered: Soul Suspect will be like. :gregory:

I get where you're coming from, and that's often a mentality I have myself when it comes to gaming. The problem is most combat based genres are styles I actively dislike, and thus I have no motivation to do well.

I can understand that. I think the game that's tested my patience the most was Dragon Warrior for the NES. I get that it's important for setting up the RPG genre, but the amount of hours it takes to level up in that game is maddening. So I gave up and moved to the Super Famicom version. I was able to beat that one.

I'm all for killing things, but I'm tired of killing things from behind chest high walls. Lemme get up close and personal to rip their faces off without me worrying about my health dropping.
