Know a game or company that just won't come out to the western market for some reason or another? Maybe you know why the game won't be released, if so, tell us so we can see if it's justified or just plain silly and laughable. Or you can simply guess why a game won't be brought out.
None of the
Key Visual Art's will make it to the western market. Simple reason being that the publisher is not interested in the western market. It was said, though, that they would think about releasing to the west,
if there was enough interest.
The paradox comes from the fact that their homepage is
blocked to any foreigners.
And apparently Baba Takahiro is not amused with people legally importing their games.
"Go fuck yourself and play your own games", indeed.
As much as it saddens me, I doubt that any
The Idolm@ster games will come to the western market. There is probably not enough interest in a Rhythm Game + Raising Sim to justify making it, causing a lot of money. Not to mention the fact that the game is fully voice acted and has a good twenty-odd songs, which would have to be well translated and well sung... which will not just cost a ton, but most likely backfire.
In Japan, it's quite normal and almost expected for a voice actor to be able to sing, a lot of them even have character songs for the various roles they play. But in the western market, it's more likely that they simply voice someone and leave it at that.
Personally I see no reason why they can't just translate the game and translate the subtitles during the songs, but leave the audio in Japanese. Costs less and wouldn't "ruin" the songs.
For the same voice-acting/money reason, it's doubtful that many voice acted
Dating Sims will make it to the western market... worst of all, TokiMemo games. None of them ever got to released outside of Japan or China once or twice, which is terrible cause those games are great.
But Konami feels/fears that the games are "too Japanese" for western players and are a niche of the market. I have to say this is pretty silly, as there are a lot of western TokiMemo fans who have imported and played the games and enjoyed them.
Heck, do what the
fans did and simply translate the games! That'll bring them over.
And since I've been playing them recently... the
Romancing Saga games by Squaresoft. These days, I guess they would not be released due to being "too old" although I think they could get some money out of it by having them be downloadable from the Wii/3DS shop, if they want to stick to having them appear on Nintendo consoles.
But I have no idea why they did not release them back in the Nineties. Looking at the games, the graphics were rather decent, the story is interesting and the controls were well managed. Romancing Saga 3 is the most well-known and insanely popular, there is an English translation done by ManaSword - which has its grammatical mistakes, but that is natural when a Chinese man translates from Japanese to English with neither of those languages being his very best, but it's overall a very good translation.
And if the western market would think some of the monsters looked too naked to them, well they could always draw bikinis or something. As I mentioned, I just recently noticed -
after 10 years of playing that game - that the snake-women monsters have nipples hinted on their bodies.
