If a game sells millions, it's not a failiure.
Especially if that game is the last in the series (but not the franchise). The other games will have to make their own headway and convince us they're awesome.

Mario Galaxy... I'm worried about that one. It looks gimmicky, and I've not really enjoyed 3D Mario games since the granddaddy of them all, Super Mario 64...

Ok true If it sales it isnt a failure but i meant more that if the gameplay didnt live up to the hype then it was a failure.

Heavenly Sword, to me, seems over hyped and people are comparing it to God of War. It is NEVER a good idea to compare a new IP with an excellent game, that just spells aweful game...
hence in point, Harvey Birdman, I heard that it will be like Phoenix wright. I played the demo at Comic-con, yea its similar, and has some hilarious dialog, but the gameplay didnt feel like a PW game at all.....
Mario & Sonic @ the olympics as well, that sounds interesting, saying it will be almost enhanced gameplay like Wii Sports.... I just see that bombing so badly...

Though I think FFXII:RW will be awesome and can't wait to get it, thats just my feeling.
I must say I think Rock Band has the potential to fail, sure you can play online with your mates to cut cost, but I think the mass of GH players are not going to want to play online. They are forcing you by having a small list of songs from the start (from what I've heard) and making you pay/download more songs online every week. Tap it with a large price point, and if a certain 500-600$ console shows us anything, the masses are stingy with their money, how many people want to buy a 200$ game when GH3 gives the same basic play for 150$ less?

But because I've never played the original I don't know how to be disappointed. And I'm a fan of flying games like StarFox 64 and Rogue Leader so It could float my boat. The trailer however rocks.
I'm going to wait for the reviews before I buy.

Why wouldn't the mass of GH players not want to play online? Considering Rock Band's pricing plan hasn't been announced. Keep in mind, there is a good possibility that it will suck massively. However, it's a possibility and nothing more.

I would never buy a game that forces me to buy stuff afterwards for it to work best. Never.
If they do this, then yes. It will fail completely.

Saying Rock Band will fail with the small amount of info we have right now is condemning all games to fail, quite frankly. I chose to say it has a possibility to fail if they do stupid shit, but based on Harmonix' previous offerings in the genre, I don't think it will.
Unlike, say, FFXIII, which I already think will suck because of S-E's tendency to not make games I like.

Regardless of if the downloadable content is free or must be purchased, $199 is still quite a bit of money for some people to throw down for one game. I think it will score well with reviewers, but I can see GH3 selling more copies, also GH3 looks like its going to come out first. Also consider that Rock Band will get lots of downloadable content, free or not, means there may not be as many songs when you open the box, and there are still quite a few people who don't have their 360/PS3 online yet. Remember the "mass of GH2" people own the game on the PS2, and may not have the 350$ or 500$ console needed to play the game. I can see most of the 360 GH2 owners picking up RB who can go online, but how many mothers are going to spend 200$ to buy their child 1 game for christmas?

Its fun at the arcades, you just "RELOAD!" and "ACTION!" afterwhile you beat the game...play it all over again...and it gets a little boring.

I think the whole of Rock Band is that you pick one instrument that you like and your good at, find other people who play the other instruments (online) and then you make the band. Of course if you couldn't go online to play this game I don't think there would be much point unless you knew three other people how had the other three different peripherals or you where rich/stupid and you brought the rest of them.

That's so impossible it's not even funny. The box would be huge and the stores would have a hard time stocking it. Obviously you'll be able to buy seperate instruments.
