My ps2 won't load Metal Gear Solid, Help!!!

Unfortunately, when I put Disc 1 in, the infamous Disc Read Error message appeared, much to my dismay.I tried cleaning the disc with soap and water, but that didn't work.
I also put in disc 2, and the same message appeared.
Someone please help!
Oh, and if someone says, "Ps2's don't load pee-ess-one gaems!!!", Excuse me, could do me a favor and die?

Well first of all, this specific thread is meant for things unrelated to Phoenix Wright, so that point is rendered invalid.Second of all, I googled the issue, and went on youtube to search for the problem.

It just might be that game's time, it's pretty old by this point it wouldn't surprise me if there was nothing that could be done to save the disk. How badly scratched is it?

DoMaya's humor aside, he has a point.
When my old PS2 discs started to get error messages it was usually time to throw it out, even if the backs weren't scratched too bad (they usually were).

However, yesterday, it clicked in my head that I had A ps2 slim lying around. Funny thing is, it runs ps1 games perfectly;but it can't run ps2 games. My plan is the slim is my ps1 now basically.
So in short: Fat ps2's suck, and Kojima is god.
(I beat MGS1 just now actually, lol)
