Plus side: New battle system actually works quite well, new cast (thank GOD), good dialogue (it was translated by the same group that did PW!), no voice acting (see cast note), new concepts in general work decently, characters are a bit more flushed out. Just a bit, though.
Minus side: Very tacky concept for the main plot (though the good dialogue helps), still feels like a BN game, main character is emo, seems pretty short.
Overall: Good, probably worth a buy if you really liked BN/haven't played one in a while.

That line probably saved the franchise entirely.
The main character is probably one of the best parts of the game and anime. I just love his personality. How serious he is. It really is a plessant change compared to how idiotic Lan was. I'm on *aham* wave-length with this guy. Not that I'm emo or anything
but I can fully understand him.Oh, and Luna and Misora are hot as hell.

I loved Battle Network to death. Unfortunatly, I only fully completed the post game in BN4 v-v.
But, damn, Silver Bulleting {Super Vulcan + Double Point + Atk30 + Atk10 + Atk10 something like 4k dmg} Bass SP felt GOOD.

Anyone done Multiplayer yet? I fear that it will pale in comparison to the awesomeness that was MMBN multiplayer.
Seriously, as bad as BN4 was, it had DAMN GOOD Multiplayer balance.
[I choose MMBN4 because of how horribly poor it was in comparison. But really, it's still better than 5. God how I loathe thee MMBN5. Only worthwhile part of that game: Fighting the last boss. which was the Souls of the Damned.]

Your voice acting in the DS version maeks me cry. ;-;
From what I hear MMSF multi is really, really unbalanced because of the whole 'Best Combo' feature. In short, Moogle, you could Silver Bullet someone and time would be stopped so they couldn't dodge and you'd auto-hit.
With one card.
Of course BC cards aren't feasible in one-player because they're 3000 a pop (and are used up when you use them) but in multi they're rape.

The only reason they had to make Lan get booty was so that he could get kids, and some generations later, pop up with Geo Stellar.
I'm not sure if that will happen again.

However, 6 was good, and Star Force is pretty good too. Like... it has a plot. An actual plot. With Plot events. And Character Development.

Anyway, on a completely unrelated side note, anyone else think Harp Note is a great character? I find it great that she isn't completely useless like Meiru/Mayl was in BN, a definite step up.

Yeah, for once, in comparison, she ddoes something, she actually saves your butt more than once.
As for the game in general, I picked up the Pegasus version(My fiancee got Leo) a month ago and really enjoyed it. The Brotherband wi-fi thing is a pretty good idea, for me at least... I mean, who wouldn't like a free stat + HP bonus?
As the similarities to the BN serie, I don't mind, as long as it doesn't end up like BN4... Pokemon Tournament inspired....*shivers*. At least they went back to somewhat a right track with BN6 while it still doesn't beat BN3, [nerd alert]it's the only BN I finished at 100%/7 stars, the fact that a friend a school had the other version and that we battled almost every day on lunch time...[/nerd alert].
All in all, pretty decent game worth checking out
