Story: I just finished playing Ouendan 2, I closed my NDSL and then crack... Three words followed afterwards: "Oh hell no."
So looks like I'm going to have to get a new NDSL in a month's time... T_T

I'm not sure about Nintendo's warranty policy beyond the first year, but it couldn't hurt to check and see if they will replace it, like Mikker suggested. Good luck.

If you got it less than a year ago, Nintendo will replace it for free, IIRC.

At least I had insurance on it from Game Stop. I exchanged my white DS Lite for a black DS Lite. I had an awful time playing Elite Beat Agents when I first got it, since my old DS Lite had problems with the middle and lower right part of the screen.

I play Hotel Dusk with the top screen flat all the time. I'm pretty sure Nintendo wouldn't put such a feature on their products if they knew it would cause damage to the system.

Do you mean Hotel Dusk played 'flat' is a feature, or putting your DS 'Flat' is a feature? Because 'Flat' is not how the DS is displayed, therefore it's not a 'feature' to do that to it--all you're really doing is putting undue stress on the hinges, or pushing the machine in a way it's not really meant to go. Sure it'll work but eventually it'll crack, like shown--just because you CAN do something with a product you own doesn't mean you should, or that it was designed that way.

The older DS's are more sturdy, hinge wise, which is why--the lites aren't made the same. So really, you can't expect one to work for the other.

Yeah, the original DS is ALOT more durable than the Lite. I have NO IDEA why Nintendo made it so darned fragile in the first place and at the same price, too >.>;
I had a Navy Blue DS but when one of the buttons stopped working I took it back to the store and was given a Black Lite in exchange. A few months later, the same problem is back and I can't play 25% of my DS Games. I'm definitely getting another DS 'cause I prefer the original one XD
