Come on, it's like... One of the most epic game series and there isn't any topic about it here. :( Don't mind me starting one~!

Man, has anyone seen that new Tingle game coming for DS in Japan?... Scary stuff.

Heh- I actually want that. Edgy
An interesting LoZ related fact- Despite playing every LoZ game (except the awful CD-I games, and the GBC games), I've only ever completed one (Minish Cap)
I get bored easily, you see, even with awesome games... I go back to them eventually. It's just that I haven't got round to going back to WW yet, I hate the part I'm on at TP, MM and OoT both glitch on my Gamecube, I just don't like LTTP and LoZ 2 and LoZ is just rock hard, I always, always get lost. I bought Four Swords and almost completed it, but decided to return it while I could get all my money back.
Have I missed any? Oops

Tingle is gay, but his new game actually looks kinda fun Phoenix. Anyway, yeah, I'm a big Zelda fan... I haven't completed many of the games, though. I've finished Four Swords Adventures and Wind Waker, and I'm in the Palace of Twilight with TP (Wii).

It's kinda annoying that the Wii version is flipped, but I guess it was for the best... stupid right-handed Link Nick.

Anyway, yeah, I'm a pretty big Zelda fan. Heck, I administrate a Zelda fan forum dedicated to the creation of Zelda fan games, and this just happens to be the second day of MAZE, a mock e3 for Zelda fangames, in which you can win awards to put in your game's topic. http://www.zfgc.org/.

Oh, and Impulse... what's wrong with the GBC games? Link's Awakening is really fun, I was one of the people who signed a petition for getting a remake of LA on DS Sal.

Yeah, ive heard about the new Tingle RPG. cant believe theyd create something that creepy about the most creepiest dude in the zelda universe!

by the way, its good to finally see a zelda topic in the forums. I'd have to be honest as well and say that there are some zelda games that i havent completed, but only because i saw my brother beat it first, so it kinda spoiled me. happened with OOT and TWW. the ones that i have beaten are LTTP, LA, OOS, OOA, and MC.

I would have to say that my favorite zelda game falls between OOT, LTTP, and LA. ive played some twilight princess, but my urge to beat my final fantasy game has put that game on hiatus. stinkin final fantasy storylines. ><

Glad to see some Zelda fans here!! The games are long to beat, I can agree but it's always worth the effort!

Oh, nothing's wrong with the GBC games, it's just I never got to play them. I did own a GBC, but I was quite young, and so I only owned the Pokemon games, Tetris and some god-awful movie liscence games. By the time I knew enough about gaming to know what LoZ was, it was into the GBA era, and LA, OoA and OoS were pretty much impossible to find. I'm hoping for a remake of LA, and hopefully finding a copy of OoA and OoS, but I'm not haivng much luck...

Don't forget, we just transferred over from another forum, so the mainly-TP-focused thread we had was made to die. That's no indication that there aren't any Zelda fans here, though. Hobohodo

While I wouldn't call the Zelda series the most epic, its importance in gaming can't be ignored, either. Its nice variety in stories and ever-evolving gameplay make it a great series. The awesome characters are a great touch, too.

Twilight Princess was sucking ass at first. It wasn't that it was bad, but it was getting really "drawl". I mean, collecting those bugs before each temple, the fact that the temples were incredibly easy in-and-outs, and not to mention that there was nothing to do.

Then all of a sudden, you beat the Zora's Temple and BAM! It gets fun. I'm in the first room of Arbiter's Grounds, and already the difficulty is ramped up.

Not to mention I was doing so many side-quests and exploring before I went there. There's so much to do, it's just awesome.

i agree that twilight princess is a great and fun game and the storyline is pretty well done too. i havent finished it as of yet, but its keeping me well entertained and ranks up there on my favorite zelda games. the only complaints i'd really have for it is that the bosses seem a tad easy as compared to the older games. id also have to say that i feel that the game is trying to give in to too many of the fans' needs by relating almost everything somehow back to ocarina of time. not that thats bad or anything, but i would love to see a newer zelda game that doesn't try to compare itself to OOT but instead come up with a completely different story thats set apart from the other zelda games like the old ones used to be. of course, they'd have to keep the plot of the triforce because you can't have a zelda game without it!

Okay, what's going on? I'm serious. The game keeps getting better and better, yet it only started getting good after the Zora Temple. I'm gonna have to replay it on the Wii, once I get one, so I can figure out why it was so "meh" in the beginning.

Oh, and I'm in the Temple of Time (seriously didn't see THAT dungeon coming), just got the rod that makes statues come to life, and have gotten back to the entrance, making my way back through trying to figure out where to get next now that I have the rod.

Sadly, most items in TP are only really used in the dungeon you find them in, and the one directly after it. You may use it once or twice from there on, but otherwise most of them go underused for the rest of the game.

Or, realistically "hehehehehehe-ugh, oh, *vomit". You'd think whoever made the spinner would've made the inside piece a swivel, so when the outside spins around, you remain facing one direction. Sadshoe

Great game by the way. Wii-controls work well.

holy crap! i just beat that dungeon yesterday! i felt like Link could be the captain of some synchronized dance team, except with statues instead of people! i miss not really getting to use the spinner anymore as it was my favorite item, but i guess i can keep my bomb arrows as a close favorite... i dont know if its just me though, but do the bosses kinda seem like push overs?

Yes, although the whole game is more or less of a push over difficulty wise--If anything bosses were only elongated because of the 'puzzle' needed to be solved in order to beat them (or the pattern, if you like it that way).

I have a lot of criticisms for TP, but I did enjoy playing it--I just felt like the game was actually rather 'small,' in that you really never got to use most of your items for anything other than the dungeon in which you found them. Some items you never really even needed to use again--The dominion rod comes to mind as the most obvious of these.

It 'speeds up' a little bit after you clear out most of the curse, because then you get to interact with Hyrule instead of just walking from dungeon to dungeon and randomly playing Okami inbetween.

Sure, if Okami involved boring collectaquests for the first half of the game before you could do anything, with a linear and restricted feel and less beautiful graphics.

I'm in Gerudo Desert right now in TP. (Is it a sign that I really need sleep that every time I type TP I start giggling uncontrollably?) It took me forEVER to beat
Spoiler:
Morpheel. Seriously, my dad called for me to watch Accident Investigator with him, and I just screamed "Hang on!" Five minutes later, he heard me scream "YES!" at the top of my lungs and said, "Oh, she beat the boss."
But I seriously started crying when

Yes, Colin just happens to be one of my favorite characters. Colin and Rusl.

I'm in the Sky City in TP. It's a great game, but there are three problems I have with it.

1. Slow and boring start
2. Combat is way too easy (automatic shield when Z-targeting?)
3. Occaisonally the game feels like a chore

Otherwise, it's fantastic.

Haha, very true, TP gets to be a bit slow on the gun when you start collecting those Twilight bugs, but other than that.... In my opinion, the bosses were easy for players who've already experienced the feel of Legend of Zelda. I went off and played Ocarina of Time and Majora's mask in between playing TP, and I tell you the bosses were quite easy to boot, including Ganondorf. I remember not being able to beat the first boss when I was a lil tyke since I just wasn't as experienced in the control and tactics. Believe me, if I were to ask any other person who hasn't played LoZ before to beat a boss from any game, they'd have a harder time than what we all had.

Well well, if I hear from one guy that this game's way too easy in general, I'd be darned since sometimes they haven't even tried the most gruesomely hard part of the game. For those who have beaten the storyline of the game, have you went to...
Spoiler:
The Cave of Ordeals? 45 floors full of monster groupies you'd meet throughout the whole game, except the bosses of course. I went there just today but only had a faerie and very limited supplies of bomb arrows. Curses, I knew I should've restocked... Reached the very last level of it all but blew it, even with the armor. Least I can say: Please prepare yourselves for the worst, hit and run techniques are always the best too if you're in a cinch. As for me I have to start it all over, all 49 levels. Oh no, I wasn't angry or anything. :)

yea, i guess its true that the more you play zelda, the easier it gets, but i still felt that the older games like LTTP was still harder, for me, to beat the bosses on than TP, but then again, i still have a few bosses to go ahead with.

to me though, the hardest part of twilight princess that was harder than any boss was....
Spoiler:
when you gotta save colin and you fight that guy on the boar on that skinny bridge with epona, i got many game overs before i figured it out

if i dont count that though, i think the overall gameplay to me on TP is easier than LTTP, cause to me, i found the bosses on LTTP harder and i lost more lives overall in that game. and before you ask, i just played that game about a year ago, so its not an experience issue.... maybe im just 2D challenged. Butz

Well, I have to say that The Temple of Time was the most pathetic temple in Zelda history.

It was basically one long path, with one single puzzle. Go get the statue, then bring him back. The only way it could possibly take you a while to do it is that it doesn't occur to you what exactly you're doing until you go from the end to the beginning a few times.

Twilight Princess is a good game, but not much more.

While the classic Zelda mechanics are polished and refined to the max, it lacks a clear direction (this is mostly seen in the visual department: there are lots of pleasant different styles in the mix, but they don't seem connected too well and there isn't a single main focus, a main theme...variety is the spice of life, but without a main theme it's just a fragmented chaos), courage and innovation (
Spoiler:
don't tell me Ganondorf, Zelda and Hyrule itself weren't thrown in the mix for fanservice...
), and lastly a throbbing, living world (Hyrule is not little in scope, but it's very empty and lifeless...the fact there weren't enough side quests made it even worse). It's almost the opposite of Wind Waker: while WW had a clearly defined, vivid personality and an unique charm but was terribly lacking in the gameplay area (especially in its little, linear dungeons and boring sea exploration), at least compared to its predecessors, TP is (almost) the perfect synthesis, the opera summa of the Zelda series in the mechanics, but it doesn't have a clear personality, mostly for the lack of a main theme.
Ah, the music was a bit lackluster.

Done with the critiques, I must say I was pleasantly surprised by some innovative(in a way or in another) segments in TP...be careful, massive spoilers:
Spoiler:
the Western, Native American Kakariko village is the best Kakariko yet(not that it is much...); it's empty like all the other TP towns, but at least it has its decent share of atmosphere. The Forest Temple was the best first dungeon EVER, the Water Temple was a very nice watery dungeon, plus the battle at the end was a neat reminder of Shadow of the Colossus. The spinner was awesome, too bad it was used, like, thrice in the entire game...at least Stallord was entertaining. The Ice Mansion is a little "Majora's Mask-ian" gem, complete with a cute love story between two Yetis...I need more games like it Yanni Yogi . The City in the Sky was much better than I expected and, visually, one of the most beautiful dungeons in the whole series...and you gotta love the Escher-inspired Oocca. It even had a good musical theme, pretty rare thing in TP. The Twilight Palace was a lame dungeon, but, aesthetically, it was impressive...and the Twili are just gorgeous Dr? Hotti ...ok, maybe gorgeous is not the best adjective, but you get the idea. Zant was a very, very, very nice psychotic, weak, childlike villain, one of the best categories IMHO, and its design was another cameo of the Majora's Mask aesthetic. Too bad they HAD to replace it with a nonsensical Ganondorf...

And that's it. By my standards, it deserves a 7.5, for being a nice mechanical game, but not much more. Next time, Nintendo, first decide where you're going.

You know, I've actually stopped having fun at the Sky Temple. It's rather boring, particularly for a dungeon.

I haven't picked up TP in a few days because of it.

But FDoo, great analysis and review. Quite frankly, I agree with just about all of your points- other than the ones I haven't gotten to and the Zant one. I feel like I'm about to beat the game, but Zant has showed up once, only once, in person. Does he suddenly pop up everywhere after the Sky Temple or what? Yuusaku It certainly doesn't feel like I'm racing against time to save the world.

Huh, I rather liked the fact that quite a bit of the world seemed vast and empty. It made me feel like I was riding through the countryside on the back of a horse, not going through small village after small village or something. Also, while the lack of many sidequests is rather unfortunate, the warping ability really would make such sidequests too easy.

I felt the same way after a while, though the boss made it worthwhile. Not because it's some fantastic fight or anything, but because it provides the second-to-best use of a dungeon's key item in a boss fight, right after the Spinner. It reminded me quite a bit of Spider-Man, actually.

He shows up in the dungeon right after the one you're in right now, if this is the one to get the last mirror shard. It alone is more than enough reason to get through the Sky Temple. His fight is probably one of my favorite in the game.

While the plot quickly bored down after the third temple, the boss battles were some of the funnest I've ever played.

The boss battles were very fun, although none of them were all that challenging (including the last boss).

With everyone ranting on about how there's so much to do outside of the main quest, I was quite surprised to find how empty the world was. Kakariko Village feels like a ghost town with just that one group of people living in it. In other Zelda games, it usually feels like a fairly populated place.

To clear things up, my comments about Zant are mainly referred to the post 8th Dungeon Zant...really, he doesn't reveal much about himself before it, and what is known is not interesting either. But the battle completely changes the perspective...for the better, IMHO. Quite a lot of people were disappointed with it, though, and I can see why.
