The most bad-ass, gory, hysterically violent and bloodiest adventure game of all time; it's hard not to love God of War. What was hard, though, was waiting for God of War II to come out. It may have only been a year or so, but damn, it felt like forever. I don't even know when GoWII is specifically coming out, but I do know that it's between today and a few days after that (although, Gamespot does say today so that might be right).

Who else absolutely loved the first and can't wait to get the second?

I liked God of War, though I wasn't quite so crazy about it as many were. Still an amazing game, though, and I'll get around to picking up God of War II soon enough.

I'm actually a bit surprised that they didn't release GoWII on the PS3, though it's understandable since it's been in production for about two years now (since the first one came out about two years ago), and a platform change would've taken quite some time.

David Jaffe stated he wanted to stay on PS2 since they're comfortable with the system, plus the install base is bigger. He has stated though that the third and final God of War game will be on PS3.

God I cannot WAIT to start ripping some fucking wings off people or fighting the Colossus of Rhodes.

You mean it's hard not to love a game with totally mindless gameplay, Dragon's Lairesque bosses (and while this comparison would make the game awesome, the fact that they were touted as original makes me retch) and a mask of gore and titties to distract the people from the mindnumbing gameplay?

If I wanted that, I'd play Shadow of Rome. At least there's stealth parts in there.

Picked up my copy today, as well as the special ed. strategy guide--the artbook is pretty nice. Unlike most extra artbooks they actually included input from the artists about why or how they designed certain things.

The game looks really good--I wonder if it'll be better than the first? I'm pretty excited to start playing it.

Tits? Sure, if you get off on gorgons. And gore? ... So? I'm not sure where you're going with that "distracting" thing.

Quite frankly, the gameplay may not be incredibly deep, but it has a cinematic and enjoyable feel to it, that is somewhat button-mashing at times, but screw that, it's fun. The graphics are pretty awesome, the orchestral score is great, and dammit, I thought the puzzles were handled nicely. The whole atmosphere was just great.

I'm also really stoked about the second disc of God of War II. The special features in the first one were actually pretty cool, and I can't wait to see more.

At times? Any combat sequence NOT considered a boss-encounter is button-mashing in that game. Honestly, the gameplay turned me off so much I just couldn't justify playing that game more than needed.

Aren't all combat systems button mashing after a while though? I mean in Devil May Cry 3 you get more 'points' for being stylish but after a while you find the right button mash that works and just do it over and over. I don't really think this is GoW's fault, it's just part of the action genre.

I'll admit GoW's system is nowhere near as robust as DMC, but they operate on the same principle.

Funny, I like DMC even less... (Okay, so my experience was heavily soured in DMC 1 when I found an infinite that, if you kept at it long enough, you could easily get a cool rating on every enemy provided you didn't kill them first).

But anyway, instead of making an educated guess on God of War 2... I actually played the game. It is indeed more of the same, except somehow, it's somewhat better.

I like the God of War series. The gore and tits might be a little much, but who cares? The gameplay is fun, and the boss fights are pretty epic. I'm planning on picking up GoW II sometime soon, maybe I'll just rent it though. I only rented the first one, and I beat the game and looked at the special features I really wanted to.

Trust me. Rent the game. GoWII is too easy.

Not seen it before...
But I like gore games.
Let us dye the world in despair, and bring a dismal end to this fairy tale.
