My favorites? Hmm... Male: 1. Auron (FFX)--Best cynical idealist FF has ever seen, in my humble opinion. There were many moments when I connected very deeply with him, especially in his flashbacks. 2. Braska (FFX)--Phlegmatic characters always interest me and he is a prime example. "What a delightful irony it would be if we defeated Sin!" Priceless! 3. Wakka (FFX)--Kudos to Square for this foray into unfamiliar territory. Outgoing natural leaders with a distaste for confontation are hard to find in FF. Caves in to Lulu a bit too much, but overall I like this characcter, hardheadedness and all. 4. Squall (FFVIII)--A good peek into the mind of a hermit/outcast. As scary as this may sound, I was pretty similar to him as a teenager, especially in 7th and 8th grade. 5. Reeve/Cait Sith (FFVII)--Conflicted insider...good stuff. Female: 1. Quistis (FFVIII)--I'm a sucker for soft leaders. Suffers a bit from the party-wide tendency to demand that Squall personally keep the sky from falling, but her easygoing style and self-doubt touch me. Personally, I think she and Squall should've gotten together. Heck with Rinoa. 2. Yuna (FFX)--If it weren't for one particular trait of hers that bugs the heck out of me, she'd be too perfect. As it is, she's quite believable and generally likable. As for what this redeeming weakness is, I despise the way she conducted her business with Seymour. That and her general tendency to lead her guardians around by the nose while simultaneously keeping them in the dark about her reasons. 3. Tifa (FFVII)--A bit rougher than she has to be sometimes, but overall a good mother figure. (Yet another kind of character to which I am somewhat partial.) 4. Rikku (FFX)--Adorable. A bit silly, but for some reason I like her. 5. Julia (FFVIII)--Maybe a bit too perfect, but her scene with Laguna made me love her. |

I'd say shame on you for necroposting, but I figured I might as well post mine. (FFIV) Cecil, Rydia (FFV) Galuf , Faris (FFVII) Red XII, Barret, Cid. These are the only ones that come to mind. That being said, I'm planning to play FFIX for the first time and I have a feeling that I'm going to like Zidane, Steiner, and Freya. |
