I'm so happy! =D

Why? Because I may just get Tales of the Abyss for Christmas! It doesn't sound like a bit deal but I've wanted this game for over a year now but because I like in Europe I could never have it.

But yay! Hope! I got a Region-Free thingy (thanks to Happiness Punch!) and I've ordered ToA! If all goes according to plan I should have it by Christmas!

Why is this a big deal? You should know how much of a ToS nerd I am! And this... could be better than ToS... O.o

So yeah, I love life. A lot. More than you do. =]

I have ToA, myself.

... Just haven't really played it much. (And I also love ToS, but I haven't played from where I'm stuck in... oh, a good two years. Damn overly short and complicated boss fights.)

Lucky. I want TOA, but I don't have a PS2 nor do I live in America, so I can only pray there's a remake on Wii.
But, it has the best opening in the Tales series, so I hope you have fun playing it.
And Gears hates games that sell well? Well, I suspect you hate Banjo and Kazooie, then! EVIL!!

or it's got the most cliché plot that overuses every trope of the genre in conjunction with cardboard characters and the weakest battle system ever that isn't turn-based.

it isn't a coincidence that it sold well; mediocre shit appeals to the lowest common denominator which by definition is the largest market.

and then there's the matter of it being one of like, four RPGs* for Gamecube that isn't a port.

Although some of the cardboard tropes of Abyss annoyed me (man I always love games that do the 'WE CAN'T DEFEAT THEM, RETREAT' stuff!) as well as certain characters after the mid-way events of the game, I would say there are much worse ways to spend 30 hours.

EDIT: Gears hates overhyped games that don't live up to the standards they're made out to have. Hence, why he only bought Bioshock because it was low-print or w/e.

Personally, I don't care about the hype. I judge for myself which games to play and which ones I like. To be honest, I've only found seldom games that I haven't loved through and through.

What the hell? Tales of Symphonia wasn't the best game ever, but it was great and the second best RPG for Gamecube if you ask me, Paper Mario TTYD beat it though. I still love it, it has a good, yet hard to get to grips with at the beginning plot. I had to play the game twice to understand what the hell everyone was talking about, but I still love it.
