Post subject:  Is there something wrong with my PS3 resolution?

Whenever I play a PS3 game, thin green and purple lines go across the screen. They are not really that noticeable (sp?), but when I do see them, they tend to distract me. =/

I'm using component cables and my LCDTV resolution is 720 (I don't know if it's i or p).

Is there something wrong with the cables? The lines don't show up on my Wii or XBox 360 (with the latter also using component cables), so I guess there may be something wrong with them...?

There's nothing wrong with your TV or cables. The PS3 comes pre-loaded with suckage. Oh, and Blu-ray.

Yep, I'm so helpful. :godot:

You may want to ask on a forum that isn't bloated with Nintendo's target audience...

I can probably give some advice that isn't bombarded with fanboysim (i.e. R Bond).

First let me ask you this: How is the wiring? Are the jacks in the right place? Was it affected by certain games?

Here is some tips:

1. Try adjusting the television where the lines will disappear.

2. Perhaps it's the cables themselves, so try swapping with different cables.

3. If it's the console itself, call the manufacturer and tell them what is going on and ask if they have any similar problems from other people.

That is all I can give to you, sorry if I wasn't much help.

It can't be the TV. It runs the 360 just fine with component cables.

I don't think it's the system, either. The cables I have in right now were made specifically for the PS3.

So, I must be extremely unlucky because the cable I have in now is my second cable I've used for the PS3. The first one had VERY noticeable lines going across the screen. And I guess this one is not working properly, either.

Oh well, I'll just have to live with it. Those lines are barely noticeable anyways.

I'm not pro-anything. I'm just anti-Sony. :P

Anyway, all biased-ness aside, if your TV works fine for Wii and Xbox 360, and you've replaced your cables once already, then the problem most likely lies in the console itself. Have you tried calling Customer Service?

Maybe your TV can't handle Sony's Ultra-L33T Super Blu-Ray HD. :Keko-hands:

Blu-Ray HD

Ahh...that's what I was trying to remember! Thanks for pointing that out R Bond.

Is your television high definition or standard?

Because if it's standard, than that's the problem, because Blu-Ray is meant for the more modernized televisions.

However, if you do have HD, than I will have to say it's probably your console than.

Like we both mentioned before, call the manufacturer.

Check your PS3's display settings. The PS3 will normally automatically select the best resolution for it.

If that doesn't fix anything, I'd say you should try calling Customer Service.

However, there really is a big difference between 720p and 720i. You should really get that straightened before getting any help.

But try the auto settings first.
