Thats what you have to do with some Wii games like Super Smash Bros Brawl & Super Paper Mario

You talking about EU Wiis? I live in the US and I didn't have to do anything of the sort.

It depends how old your Wii is. Newer games carry system update files that update the Wii's operating system to the version that was the latest when the game was released.

Dammit! I miss the days when consoles weren't so complex. You just had to pop in a game and play it. Maybe get an expansion pack.

I got the game and think it's pretty good. Not as great as MK DS but still good.
Some of my favourite retro tracks are in there which is good and the new tracks are great (except for a few like Grumble Volcano, god I hate that track).
The new character additions are great (Funky Kong is awesome) and the weight class of the Mii is a nice touch (if your mii is short and thin, it will be a light-weight whereas if its tall and fat, its a heavyweight). I have to ask though, are all the babies necessary?

We got it yesterday, & I didn't have to update it. It is one of the best Wi-Fi games ever.

Oh, and forgot to mention: this game is fucking hard. First time ever I lost races in 50cc, and you'll have a hard time at 150cc, especially Mirror Mode.

&$^*ing Blue shell *grumble grumble*.

Does anyone here use the Wii wheel? :knock-knock: I find it almost impossible to use that control method and have to resort to using either the Ninchuck/remote combo or a GC controller.

Also, has anybody found themselves being (for lack of a better term) "item-raped" (hit repeatedly in a short space of time by numerous shells, POW blocks, Lightning Bolts, etc)? Well I have (and that's only in 50cc)!

I just wanted to kick my Wii over the floor/ kick my TV in. :zenitora:

1. I agree that da blue shell is fucking annoying.

2. I found da Wii Wheel hard at first, but after a few hours I got used to it.

3. Item raped? Yeah. All the time.

I use the wii wheel all the time, don't know why though. I think its because its a new game so I like a new control system.
About the items though; I swear to God that everyone on the race-course hates you...
If you're first, you get hit by a blue shell, then red shell then multiple pow blocks and lightning bolts. If you're last, you get a bullet bill that gets you to about 6th then you get item-raped again. If you're no-where near anyone, you get a thunder cloud so that you can't pass it on and become small (thus meaning that multiple players pass you and you eventually become last).
I don't know how the hell I'm supposed to unlock Dry Bowser by getting a star rank on 150cc!!

By the way, who is everyone using mainly? I usually go for Baby Peach (I can't resist the cuteness) or Mii (because it has a Spanish accent for some reason and I like to see myself on a motorbike >.>)

To be honest i use te gamecube controller. i don't like the the wii wheel you can't drift with it.
though i can mange fine with holding the controller horisontally. BTW andone got friend codes. mines is in my sig pm me if you add me. Then can have races where we turn items OFF! or at least down.

Wii Wheel is pretty good, especially when you set the drifting on automatic. Doing wheelies and tricks is much more pleasant when you can still drive.

Mario Kart Wii is <333 I can't stop playing it.

Just... whoever made up the idea for the blue shell must be found & slapped severly. Today I had to suffer 5 of the buggers. In 50cc @_@ I did once dodge one though... But I think I was uber lucky.
And 150cc is @$#?*! . I had a sore throat after screaming O_o;;

Lol, i know what you mean about the item-rape thing... it semms like every CPU is holding their weapons back untill I'm about to cross the finish line then tey all unleash thier weapons at the same time. But i still managed to complete all of the cups (including mirror) :edgy: Now i've just gotta get star rankings in them so i can unlock funky kong (w00t!!!!) and dry bowser...

also i find the wii wheel rather easy to use...

And does anyone know why the miis are allways heavywieght class? :udgy:

I think I read somewhere that the size of the Mii depends on what weight class they are in and the smaller the Mii, the lighter they are. I could be wrong though, I haven't gotten to play the game yet, so don't take my word for it.

@Xero Wright - Well, to me it is :P Whether or not it's "techniquely" true, I don't know XD

@Caitlin - Oh God YES! And those courses: [SPOILER??? O~o]DK Snowy place with the skiing Shy Guys & Wario's Goldmine[/SPOILER???O~o] REALLY pisses me off when I use the wheel. DX

... Although I swear Blue shells only 'splode me when I'm, quite literally, 3 seconds away from the finish line, and with the annoyance I sometimes have with the wheel, I bloody love Mario Kart. I can't get enough of it :edgy:
And driving as lots've Mii's I've made, like Cooking Mama, Gant, Tingle, The Queen, it rocks so much XD The Queen on a motorbike is win <3

Nunchuck/Wiimote, eh? For some reason I never thought of that! On RR I keep getting to the boost (not the one where you go through the star though, I think it's the one after it? I'm not explaining myself too well :/) and for some reason I always hit the corner and just fall off. Oops.

I completely agree! I was playing the Star cup and came 1st in all the races apart from the last one - Grumble Volcano, I think? - where I ended up....12th. On 50cc. >_< And don't even get me started on how I fare online.

...I still love the game, though. :D

It actually does now, though.

It affects the weight, acceleration etc. slightly depending on which character you choose.

My best combo is Rosa in Wario Bike.

Actually, which character you choose is immaterial, it's what kart/bike you choose that counts.

I favour the Roselina/Wario Bike combo.

Post subject:  Re: Mario Kart Wii

Just a quick question: Why is Rosalina a heavy weight character?
Shouldn't she be more like Peach, a middle weight? Either they're counting the weight of the luma (who floats, so it wouldn't add any weight at all) or the gravity in space makes her seem much lighter than she is in the Mushroom Kingdom.

I have to start playing it again, I never even unlocked all the characters before Brawl came through the letterbox ;_; I've been too occupied with that at the moment.
