I was forced to watch this by my step-sisters when I was kid but at least is was better than Teletubbies. And it used to scare me since I didn't understand it.

But now that I look back on it, it's wasn't so bad and was kinda funny. I did like the Panda, he was funny! :larry2:

Ranma 1/2 was on crack.
I have a few volumes of the manga, and it's good fun sometimes, but I've seriously gone off Rumiko Takahashi's storytelling style.
Her protagnists are always the same...
My fav characters were Ryoga/P-chan and Mousse. Weird I know. XD

One of the very first anime I ever saw and it is still funny as hell. Takahashi might have trouble progressing the story, but both the comedy and action in this series are great. Also one of the few longer manga series I actually completed! (more because it's an older series, most other longer series I follow are just not finished yet >.<)

I wish ice-skating martial arts was a Olympic sport. Or tea ceremony martial arts. Or fast-eating martial arts.

Ranma 1/2 is the second anime that I watched. I bought the DVD thinpack of the first season a few months ago. I've got 11 cds and couple of posters. I love the group DoCo (Ranma, Akane, Shampoo, Kasumi, and Nabiki) and all their songs. There are even little music videos for them. My favorite character is Nabiki, because of her love of money!

I think Ranma 1/2 was awesome, at least from the volumes I've read. I've never bothered to watch the anime.

I just digged the craziness. The story processes slowly and the gags repeats itselves, sure, but I could never imagine that Rumiko could still keep me entertained like after 10 volumes.
Mousse and Panda were my favorites. :godot:

And speaking of Rumiko, this is the only work of her that I liked.

The manga that makes transvestites burn with jealous passion and sorrow.

I remember browsing a random Ranma forum a while ago, and there was a ten page topic about guys that got their jollies from seeing Ranma be kissed in girl form.
If you come across an older post of mine, sowwy

You have no idea how right that statement is.

That show may have had its funny moments, but most of it was based on perverted jokes that were used so much they weren't even funny anymore. Adventures were too random, and just about anything needed some sort of martial art technique. Tea martial arts? Ice-skating martial arts? Eating without showing it and it's still considered a martial art? Eh. :|

The only time I ever watched Ranma 1/2 was at the Anime Club at Von Steuben (my purgatory old high school), and I was forced to watch it in Japanese language (thanks to the acting club president *scowl*).

oh no, not a Japanese show in Japanese! What horrors.

I used to read Ranma, but after vol. 16 or so it basically started to just do the same things over and over again. "New person wants Ranma / Ranko / Akane, new person master of weird martial art, fightan gaem." This isn't suprising in the least since that's Takahashi's "formula" (Look how well it worked in Inu Yasha!), but it got old.

I still think Ranma had some genuinely funny moments, because I certainly can't say I never enjoyed reading it, just that it got old. I prefer Urusei Yatsura to Ranma, though.

I remember when I was in 4th or 5tgh grade and I took in Rumiko Takashi's animes and mangas like sap.. but now I look back and realize... how sucky she is.
You know.. her series and a lot of her characters feel the same and all... and her stpries weren't THAT funny.

I tried to wath the first 10 episides of it but I got bored after seeing Akane kicking/bossing Ranma around for the umpteenth time.

And I read the first two mangas, but traded them out for Gakuen heaven, since I got bored of them and didn't feel like wasting money on buying the third one.
There was far too many volumes of Ranma for me to keep up with... I wasn't even going to bother collecting that anymore..... D=

I disagree that Takahashi sucks, only because her lesser known works show great plot and humanity--it's only when her more mainstream stuff, like Inu Yasha, takes the stage that it's hard to defender her as 'quality.' At the same time, try making a living drawing manga and you'll soon realize that mainstream is a great way to eat every week.

That said, for anyone wanting to see Takahashi at her finest, I suggest Maison Ikkoku (featuring probably her only REAL resolution to a relationship ever), Urusei Yatsura, and some of her smaller works--animated wise, the Rumik Theater stuff is pretty awesome.

I love that manga!
I wish it didn't have to end... ;3;

My favorite characters were Akane and Happosai. Ranma is pretty cute too.

to be honest, it really didn't 'end' so you can just go back like 20 volumes and read it again in an endless loop.

I liked the show and it was funny..........for a while

the run-on jokes were getting boring and the ending sucked too and never resolved anything.

I'm watching it right now! (ep 106/161)

Right now my favorite characters are Ranma, Mousse, Ukyo, and Ryoga!!

as for pairings......right now, I want Ranma to be with Ukyo XD

I really like it so far!! But I think there's too much filler...but I would still recommend it to anyone who's been considering starting it!

The only bad thing in this comic is that it just goes on and on. My sister has about 25 volumes, but she stopped buying because it got so boring.

Not the best there is in the genre of comedy, but good enough. I liked all characters (especially master Haposai). The only bad thing was that it got censured A LOT in my country, which I, of course, understand in a certain way. Kids would be traumatized for the rest of their lives if they see female's breats on TV (or so the parents say) but the censuring was so badly done that it angered me. They skipped the 1.5 second of the breasts part, plus an additonal minute of the story!
