Am I the only person that reads this series? I was literally forced to by my two friends (you see, manga and anime just isn't my thing), but I loved it.

So if any other Host Club readers are out there, let me know!

My favorite character is Hunny, or Mori.

NO WAY!

Jeez, MM. You rock.

I've only read the first 2, and I borrowed 3 today. My two friends are fighting over who gets to loan me the next book.

Who's your favorite character?

I watched the series - Definitely one of the year's best series. I would've liked a stronger plot in general (I haven't read the manga, can't get it where I live atm. Might be no comparison), but hey, the humour and soft romance made up for it, and I'm hoping for another season. As far as I know, the manga hasn't caught up to the anime yet.

Great characters.

I enjoyed the anime - haven't read any manga of it, as of yet. I don't really have much else to comment on about it... I liked it, that's all I have to say. :P

I was also kinda forced into watching it by friends, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I took it as a funny satire of all the corny stereotypes found in anime/manga aimed for girls(while ironically using some of them to advance the story as well).

That and the theme song is one of the catchiest I've heard in a long time.

I agree about the theme song--it is one of the few songs I can sing in Japanese. ^_^

I was really hoping there would be a 2nd season of the anime, but it looks like there will only be one. :sadshoe: But at least I still have the manga that I'm reading online as it comes out on the website: onemanga.com. It is definitely one of my favorite stories.

I always switch back and forth on deciding which is my favorite character, because I honestly love all of them so much.

I love the anime and manga so much. It's just so... awesome (for lack of a better word). The plot was rather original and there were so many parts where I found myself laughing my arse off. :larry2:
Better yet, the romance wasn't a blunt stereotypical... er, romance.
The Hatchiin twins were my favorites, then Ritsu. :D

I know what you mean! It's stereotypical only in that they exaggerate all the shoujo stereotypes in order to mock them. I love it. XD So original and funny.

I love this series. The episode with the girls from St. Lobelia's Girls Academy is possibly the funniest anime episode I've ever seen, especially when
Spoiler:
the Host Club dresses in drag and does its version of the Lobelia girls' shtick to convince Haruhi to stay with them. OOOOUUURRRRAAAANNNN~

I dislike the fact that it doesn't have a second series. I'd rather not read the manga, considering it's hardly as good. Not that Ouran was anything too fabulous to begin with, but it was handled decently enough that I'd like to see more.

It's certainly not the be-all-end-all of the shojo demographic, though, despite what some seem to believe.

Ah yes, the music. I could actually be happy just listening to the music, and never watching the anime again. The soundtrack is that good.

There are some things that are just more funny to watch animated than to read, but there is still so much more story! ... ... kind of. XD You should consider reading the manga.

The manga is inferior to the anime in every way, other than the fact that it's not -uh- dead.

Uhm... I guess that's one way to look at it. I actually think there are some things that are better in the manga. In the same way that some aspects of the story that are better animated, there are also some parts of the story that seem much more effective to be read, rather than viewed. I think the strengthening/maturation/growing apart of the relationship between Hikaru and Kaoru is done particularly well. :-)

I watched the anime first, then read the manga. The anime is nicer in terms of aesthetics (i.e. the art is better and some jokes are funnier when animated), but the story and character development is superior in the manga by far. Every character has a bit more depth than the anime gives you, and that made me like the manga more.

My favorite character is Kyouya btw. :edgy: He seems like a cold bastard at first, but he actually has a big heart in him. For example,..

Spoiler: *SERIOUS SPOILERS*stuff that happened in the manga but not the anime
When their class went on a field trip to France, Tamaki couldn't go in order to respect the wishes of his grandma to never see his mother again. When Kyouya arrived in France, instead of sightseeing with the classmates, he spent every waking moment searching for Tamaki's mother... to the point that he collapsed from exhaustion right in front of her house. xD.. he discovered a lot about Tamaki's mother and went back to Japan after, heavily hinting to Tamaki that she was doing well and that she cares for her son very much. And Tamaki cried.. <33

And since we're on the topic of things that didn't happen in the anime, Kaoru confessed his feelings to Haruhi, and the two brothers had a fall-out for a while. They eventually made a decision to become different people, which meant not dressing like each other. Omg.. that scene was so touching.

Also, Mori has a younger brother who serves Hunny's brother in a similar way that Mori does to Hunny. The twist is that their roles are reversed. Hunny's brother is the reserved one, and Mori's brother is the cheerful, spunky one. xD Oh.. and for some reason Mori has a pet chick. I think I missed where he got it from.. but it's hilarious nonetheless.

Nekozawa plays a more prominent role in the manga also, along with the members of his club (yes.. he actually has members.. and they have names and were part of a story)

And Tamaki finally KISSED Haruhi! (on the forehead but still a kiss!) And Haruhi has started to realize she feels something strange toward Tamaki~

And that's just the tip of the iceberg..

There's even a side story about Kyouya's bodyguard staff showing a day in their life and the things they do out of the utmost respect for the Ootori family. They're soooo cute xD.

There's lots of other stuff they portrayed in the manga better.. such as the close relationships Kyouya/Tamaki and Kaoru/Hikaru have. They play on the Mom and Dad thing a lot more, and I loved it. The anime basically took the most interesting stories from the manga, but if you want my opinion, they're all interesting and to take anything out takes away from the characters.

I haven't seen all of the episodes of Ouran, but I really love the manga! It's getting REALLY interesting. The theme songs rock, the soundtrack is beautiful and my favorite character is Mori-senpai. Actually, I love them all and their image songs. :edgy:

Totally agree! ^^ I like the short manga of Mori when he's really tired and he starts talking to everyone. =DD I can't remember the chapter, unfortunately.

I also think Mori is the 2nd-most attractive, after Tamaki, of course. It bewilders me as to why he isn't as demanded by the customers.

According to the anime he is the one of highest demand actually (around 60% request him or something?). I guess they downplay that fact when people like Renga-chan and other supporting characters come into the picture. Case in point, if the girl doesn't find Tamaki swoon-worthy, they have something to do with the plot. xD

I never knew about that...xD Renga-chan is my least favorite character of the anime series. She kept coming out from nowhere.

Yeah. Over use of the "High Power Motor". But it was funny when the host club first met her in the anime. Called her an otaku!

Lol yea I think she would've been ok for a one-episode appearance.. but nuuuu they kept bringing her back! D:

In the manga for example, when Nekozawa was being conditioned to get used to light, it was Tamaki who was training him, not Renge-chan! x_x.. she wasn't necessary at all lol.

Oh wow, I saw this as it was being aired in Japan and being uploaded on youtube. I WILL buy it when it's done being dubbed (this year I believe), but it's been a couple years now. I liked the anime, and tried buying the manga (which was equally cute) but I think the anime's style was more appealing to me.

Oh, fave character has to be Kasanoda, hands down. EHHHHHHHHHHH!?!?!?

Really.? The strange thing is, normally I despise female anime characters (so many stereotypes...), but I enjoyed Haruhi! She sort of reminded me of me growing up. Actually, I still am like that, and prefer to be independant of others. I actually hated it as others talked down to her about her actions sometimes... because I knew I'd do the same darn thing and NO one would tell me it was otherwise wrong.

I have exactly three words regarding the Lobelia girls.
Transgender Lesbian Feminazis.
That is all.

I much prefer the anime to the manga, personally. I borrowed the first book from a friend, but I just couldn't get into it at all. Then I saw some AMVs (mostly of the twins -_-;) on YouTube and...um...downloaded the whole series. I'm going to buy the DVDs when they come out, I swear! :butz: Eh heh heh. Yeeeeah.

So, um...favorite character. Hmm. I guess Kaoru, maybe...twincest ftw I love Honey and Mori, though. And Haruhi's adorable. And screw you guys, I like Renge. :chinami: And Ranka (out of makeup) equals hotness (yeah, I'm weird like that). Kasanoda was awesome, he really should have appeared in the last episode somewhere. So disappointing. And...um...ah screw it, I love everyone! (Except the aforementioned Transgender Lesbian Feminazis. They scare me.)

twincest equals yay
