I saw it (( :sawit: )) and I thought it was... ok. Not brilliant. I would certainly have preferred to see a clip of Episode 1 (Title: The Eleventh Hour). But it's nice to see a portion of Smith's Doctor recovered from the Regeneration trauma. He sounds a bit posh. :wellington:

So that means the BBC can really milk this for only two more seasons really at the rate its going.

*incredulously late reply*

But Doctor Who's at its prime!

Oh, and DWM had some eppy titles and (incredibly) brief descriptions of some of the eppies. They mentioned some stars in the eppies too, but I won't write those for sake of time.

Spoiler: 6 Titles and some descriptions
Ep. 1. The Eleventh Hour
"The Eleventh Doctor's fisrt full episode, in which he meets Amy Pond for the first time, has a longer running time than the usual 45-minutes instalments, clocking in at approximately 65 minutes."

Ep. 2. The Beast Below
"(List of actors) and Jonathan Battersby (Taggart) - as the sinister Smilers..."

Ep. 3. Victory of the Daleks
No Description but it's got Winston Churchill and the Daleks and is a "wartime thriller".

Ep. 4. The Time of Angels
Ep. 5. Flesh and Stone
“This terrifying two-parter, the first story of the season to be recorded, sees the return of both the Weeping Angels (from 2007's Blink) and Alex Kingston as River Song (from 2008's Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead).”

Ep. 6. Vampires in Venice
“This is the one with the good-looking vampires, as seen in the series trailer. Partly filmed in Croatia, the story is set - you'd never guess! - in Venice...”

...This has gotten me hyped! I can't wait for eppy 3 and I want to know what the Moff will do with eppies 4 and 5!

I was talking to my friend yesterday, and apparently, the reason Matt Smith isn't wearing the brown suit jacket in Episode 1 is because it was stolen off the set!

But that's only what he said anyway, so I guess that can be shoved into the rumour box. But it's still quite likely, though.

That opening scene is probably the best season opener I've seen in Doctor Who ever. I was dreading if they would do it from Amy's POV(Hearing, then finding crashed TARDIS).

Strangely, his shirt is intact, so where is the suit? I wonder if it was stolen.

As for Vampires in Venice, it looks awesome. Loved the reference to the 1st Doctor in the library card. Judging by the dialogue he's probably left the Psychic Paper with Amy. Or in Ten's beloved overcoat. If it's still around. :beef:

Looked like this except a better picture of it.

The new TARDIS interior looks cool, but I do prefer the Series 1-5.1 interior.

Speaking of 5.1...

SERIES 5/1/31/FNARG BEGINS TODAY!!!

For UK fans, The Eleventh Hour begins on BBC1 at 6:20 PM, and is followed by Doctor Who Confidential at 7:25 PM on BBC3. :edgy:

New interior to the TARDIS looks nice. A modern, clean look for once. Also, MULTIPLE ROOMS!

Can't wait for the series, hope Matt Smith is ok.

EDIT: New theme tune is utter bull.

EDIT AGAIN: He's good.... He is DAMN good.

Matt was AWESOME, plot was barmy but fun, the soundtrack was great, the titles and theme were iffy, Amy's characterisation was a tad poor (I expected her to have had at least one Crowning Moment of Awesome - all the other "NuWho" companions had one in their debuts, but alas, instead the Doctor had about 25 and a half. The whole young Amy plot was great though) but overall it was one hell of a ride.
My cynical side would give it a 7/10, but... I had too much damn fun watching it. A solid 9/10. Looking foward to the rest of the series greatly.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME.

I loved the new theme and intro (yeah, so what?) and Matt is... terrific. Just terrific. Amy needed more characterisation, but we'll see that later. All of this was great. Everything. Mr Moffat shall be a great Head Writer.

9.5/10 Definately.

This pretty much sums up my view, I'm afraid. However, I do remember saying the same thing about Tennant's first episode, so I'll hold off judging Matt Smith's doctor until the series starts proper.

But you have to recall that it's not only a new Doctor, but an entirely new production staff and a new lead writer. All of these things contributed to a fresh and exciting episode of Doctor Who, with the promise of more to come - let's be honest, David Tennant was getting a little stagnant at times, especially in the last four episodes of the last series.

He had a better first episode than Tennant. Ecclestone's first was pretty epic though. Still not up to their standards on the whole, but FAAAAR more potential than I ever imagined. Only the first episode, damn good start.

I think Matt has really proved the cynics wrong at the very first hurdle. He was excellent, he didn't have too many Tennantisms (which I was afraid he may). He was still zany and scatterbrained, but in his own way.
Spoiler: not huge, but just in case peeps want to see Amy's action for themselves
I thought Amy had a decent enough character. Young Amelia was amazing. Very good acting in one so young. Older Amy was not quite so characterised, however she did shut his tie in a car door, hit him in the face with a cricket bat, shout at him several times and hey, she's a kissogram!

She's like Donna Noble Lite. A bit sappy though. I mean, most companions he has to win over, and eventually they realise they love him. Ep. 1 and she's already idolising him with dolls and stories etc. Look forward to seeing her character progression. Matt however, more of the same please!

Spoiler: More of the same
But it wasn't like they'd just met. She'd fantasised about him for years as being the one who saved the day when she was a kid. It's obviously had an effect on her, since the Doctor seems to be the only parental-type role model she's had (it seems that her aunt is not too bothered with her, and she's an orphan) so I don't think it's really a matter of romance. Plus, she's still mad at him for making her wait so long. But not mad enough to kind-of-jilt her husband at the altar (she's probably aiming to return on the morning of her wedding).

Ok, now where shall I begin... let's do a good ol' score system. :edgy:

Matt Smith- Pretty good. I felt he was copying Tennant for the first 45 minutes, but that was the Post-Regen Trauma. Once he got out of Raggedy Ten's clothes, IMO he finally became the Eleventh. As for his acting, I think it was brilliant! MS is a brilliant Doctor so far, and I hope this consistancy keeps up, as he has the potensial to be better than than many of his predessors! (It would take a master-actor to best Tennant at this job, but it's possible for him.) 9/10

Amy Pond- I loved the garden scene between 11 and little Amy. Little Amy was awesome. But Grown up Amy was a little too untrusting, and somewhat in denial- Understandably so, since she probably had a similar experience to Homer Simpson after he met Ray the Roofer. But she grew on me towards the end. As Ultimate Prosecutor said, it's funny that
Spoiler:
She idolized the Raggedy Doctor for years, yet when he finally comes back, she's like "hell no". XD
7.5/10

The Story- Pretty good, as I expect from Moffat. Nice use of a Miles Edgeworth-style Recollection in the park scene. It sort of felt like a Logic-fest. XD Also, great Ten Doctors montage. More impactful than in the Next Doctor IMO. 9/10

Theme and Titles- Er... No. Just no. Titles not too bad, theme is just bad. I'd have prefered it if they dug up Colin Baker's 1986 version rather than that. And I prefered the speed of the Series 1-4.18 titles to the slowness of these titles. 3/10

Overall- A brilliant opener for MS and KG, and for Series 5. He really does have Doctor potensial, and she is fantastic companion material. Best Nu-Who Series opener by far. :phoenix:

Overall score: 28.5/40
