Which reminds me, I forgot a death counter for the past few episodes. More on-screen deaths than we've had in a while.

Yes, not for any of the main characters though.

The fact that we don't know any of the characters makes it seem a little cold. At least it does to me. It's like it's just another death.

We almost got to know those two that first tried to fight the Female Titan. And though we didnt know them, they went out pretty damn heroically. Marco didn't get that :(
At least Mina and Thomas got onscreen deaths, and the other folk from Squad 34 whose names I can't remember. And that girl calling out for her mother int he Titan's stomach...

Is there a difference between the Female Titan and the regular Titan? Beside the gender.

Alright. I've seen images of her on google and I like her concept.

I was convinced by my brother to watch the series with him. I'm generally not the biggest fan of anime or manga, but I did like the pacing of the first few episodes. However, now I think the plot is moving on rather slowly, and I have no real attatchment to any of the characters (except for the potato girl). It's also easy to figure out who'll be the next to bite the dust.

That said, I do want to know where the hell the titans came from and why the three titan shapeshifters or whatever you call them (colossal, armored and female) are attacking the humans. They're most likely from another faction of humans, otherwise their motives wouldn't make much sense given what we know so far.

Also, Armin has gigantic eyebrows.

Well it's not like this plan is actually going to work, obviously. I don't know how, but she'll escape from there; she does have the ability to lead titans after all. I'm just wondering how long it'll take before they get their hands on however's in the titan body - and how they plan on keeping someone like her captive.

Also, I predict Armin's eyebrows will stay gigantic.

If they do cut her out, couldn't whoever's in there just bite her hand again and create another titan body? Instantly? They still haven't fully established the rules for how the titan transformation thing works.

I predict Hanji will reach new levels of crazy trying to examine the female titan body.

I'm sure the Survey Corps has ropes, tie her up in such a way that she can't bite herself, but keep Eren and their best Titan killers on standby just in case. Gag her, too, until after nightfall, it's possible the humans-in-Titans don't quite work as well at night, either.

Or that's all for nothing, and Eren's the only one that needs an injury to turn into a Titan. Not necessarily self-inflicted I suppose, since the first time he did it was after getting eaten.

Didn't Eren get exhausted when released from his titan body? There has to be some kind of drawback after all - although I guess there are people who are more experienced at handling the transformation than he is.

Argh. Agreed. I tried reading the manga yesterday and I wanted to put it down a few pages in because oh my Titan, the proportions were terrible, the style was inconsistent, and the inking was... a little disappointing. Oh my God I've read the manga and everything, yet I can't wait for next week's episode. They are doing an AMAZING adaptation.

Let me predict your reaction after every episode from now until the season finale:

Spoiler: Not spoilers but some might prefer not reading, to keep hype intact
Ep. 21: OH GOD NO D: KILL THE FUCKING BITCH
Ep. 22: That was friggin epic, but what the hell just happened?
Ep. 23: the feels man THE FEELS :c :c
Ep. 24: ... :0 :0 :0 ...
Ep. 25: [no words due to GIGANTIC BLOWING OF THE MIND IN THE CLIFFHANGER]

Seriously though, if they end it where I think they'll end it, and I'm pretty sure they will considering they are huge trolls... Man, the blowing of minds will be legendary. Immediate reaction will be all like "THEY CAN'T MAKE US WAIT (at least) HALF A YEAR FOR THIS". There is no "season break" in the manga. There will be closure (they're not gonna pull a Gainax), but the cliffhanger will be oh so beautifully cruel.

Can't wait.

The cliffhangers. As beautifully cruel as the beautiful cruel world they live in, eh Mat?

Can't help it, still love the song.

Also wanted to post this nice, realistic looking fanart of Mikasa I came upon. I'm in love with it.

First link won't work for me ("the uploader restricted this from your country", why would they do that), but I agree, that song was quite good for an ending theme. Nothing can top the openings though.

And that Mikasa drawing is beautiful. I want a CGI movie now, in that style

See, the problem now is that I just want more 3D-maneuver gear on 3D-maneuver gear fights, as ridiculous as the series would get, it'd be awesome. However, yeah, still Titans to deal with. Which is what the gear was designed for in the first place.

And the end of episode 20 wasn't really a fight, but damn, Gnther as in the opening and everything.

Levi and Mikasa in a fight with each other. Over Eren, most likely. Could happen...maybe.

I feel like the episodes should be longer, they're not moving the plot along quick enough. I suppose I miss the fast paced episodes from the beginning. I always prefer things to be faster paced, it keeps you thinking.

Still, the episodes are amazing, as always.

I still say the episodes are paced fine. The Titans storming in and eating the female Titan would've been nowhere near as effective without the buildup in the episode. That, and the "Oh shit, they've got maneuver gear."

That was actually the first contact I ever had with the series. A friend sent that video over and I had never heard of the series, nor the opening, but the music was awesome so I found out more, and ended up watching the anime, then reading the manga.

Ah, the good old times of 3 months ago.

Guys. Sorry for double post but guys.

Guys. The new episode is out.

I had read the manga, I knew everything that would happen, and yet I had to pause in the mid-episode break because I was openly weeping.

This had never happened to me with anything ever. Not a book, not a movie, not a game - nothing.

This is a must watch episode. But be warned.

EDIT: Just managed to finish the episode.

a) They adapted two manga episodes instead of my prediction of just one (they have fully covered 7 of 11 volumes so far), and they did so in the most masterful of ways, so if anyone dares to complian about pacing, I'll slit their throats with pencils. There really are no words to describe this episode. This was *the* anime moment of the year. Forget Eren's first Titan transformation and his "death" previous to that, or ANY other thing that happened in anime throughout 2013, or will happen. You will completely forget about all that after you watch this episode. Even the season finale, which will be pretty mother-effing epic by itself if the manga's anything to go by, will not compare to the amount of sheer brilliance this episode was.

b) Let me update my reaction prediction list from a week ago, in accordance to manga-to-anime-adptation rates, and let me know how correct I was on this weeks' ep:

Spoiler: Not really a spoiler but just in case
Ep. 21:
-First half: OH GOD NO D: KILL THE FUCKING BITCH
-Second half: That was friggin epic, but what the hell just happened?

Ep. 22: My eyes need washing, they can't stand any more epicness. Also by this point Levi becomes 10.000.000x the badass he was before.

Ep. 23 (?):
First half: the feels man THE FEELS :c :c
Second half: I... I *KNEW* it >:0

Ep. 24 (?): ... :0 :0 :0 ... ... :I :I :I ... ... Okay when is next week?

Ep. 25 (?): [no words due to GIGANTIC BLOWING OF THE MIND IN THE CLIFFHANGER]

c) why do I find the Female Titan so pretty :c
THE KINK~~

Awards won this week:

-3 of Squad Levi win the Darwn Award for underestimating an enemy they knew was incredibly strong, and efficient, and had any number of tricks up their sleeve.

-Eren and Female Titan win the Award for most provocative Titan posing. I swear, the looks she was giving him, Female Titan has a thing for Eren. Yet more reason for Mikasa to hate her.

-Eren also wins the Scrub Award for rushing in over-emotional and heavy handed in that fight, though he's starting to control the Titan at least.

-Eren wins the world record for Number of Times Eaten by a Titan. He also holds the Dot Pixis award for being eaten by an attractive female Titan.

-Mikasa wins Award for Outstanding Achievments in badass maneuver gear rage.

-Mikasa and Levi win best Team-up seen in this series so far.

-Erwin Smith wins the Erwin Smith award for being Erwin Smith.

-Oh yeah, and Female Titan still wins Best Titan award. At least from all we've seen. That she took out some Mauve Shirts after all those Redshirts only proves that even further.

In short, damn I loved this episode. Even if the outcome of it was pretty obvious from the get-go. And I love that the horses got the spotlight in the "Information we can share so far." Those guys are heroic!
No doubt Eren will repeat his previous escaping from a Titan stomach trick, maybe this time he'll come out in human form, he was apparently intact going in. Titans are the most inconvenient of bus services.

And seeing DeMatador's edits, seems we agree on the Female Titan being rather charming XD

I don't think I've ever seen a 24 minute episode of anything that can top the awesomeness and the feels of episode 21.
And now to endure yet another week of torture waiting for the next episode.

I feel kind of cold. Yes, I found Squad Levi's death shocking, but I felt no sadness, no sympathy. I don't think I'm connecting with the characters. Possibly because of my inability to remember faces of names for some time. Unless they stand out to me, that is. Unfortunately none of them have. :/

Anyway, oh mi gosh! This episode was so awesome! One of the best episodes in a long time. It's satisfied my craving for more action and suspense, for sure. And Levi and Mikasa fighting together? The awesomeness, it's too much. Dying... The hype!

My newest theory. There is a group of people outside the walls controlling titans. These people include Eren's father. They are against humanity for some reason I'm not yet sure of. These people can create Titans, including the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan. The normal Titans are like their army, I suppose. Something to keep people at bay.

And that's all I've got.

So... Anyone else notice that the female Titan has only hardened the skin on her hands and the back of her neck so far?

I think Eren was right to trust Squad Levi the first time, when they were still on horseback, but not the second time, when Squad Levi tried to stay behind to take the Titan out. The first time, there was a trap set up for a Titan roughly the same size as Eren; he might have gotten caught in it, as well, if he'd transformed then. The second time, though, the female Titan was already established as something very different from whatever anyone in the Survey Corps is used to. Eren should have been at least a little more wary of leaving the other three to fight the Titan without backup, in my opinion. (Not to mention, it felt like they were guilt-tripping him into trusting them, which rendered me far more suspicious and far less sympathetic to their deaths than I would've been in a more standard shounen anime...)

I have to wonder why Eren didn't just try to bite the female Titan's neck off. I mean... if you've got no hands to fight with, and your lower body is being used to pin down the opponent... well, that leaves your head to attack, right? Plus, at that point he was pissed enough to not care if the human inside died or not (and I don't remember if he knew there was a human inside, but I don't think he would've cared anyway). I'd think if he was that pissed, he'd take any means available to keep attacking.

Ah. Eren "died" again. It's nice how the first time this happened, only Armin was around to see it, and this time, only Mikasa was around to see it.

Mikasa and Levi teaming up? ... The world is coming to an end.
So I finally grew a brain and remembered to give myself a signature... Whoopee.

If everyone at home was paying attention, Armin's pretty much outright said who the female Titan is. And yeah, Squad Levi's deaths weren't anything sad for me either, despite what your stadard crowd reaction of "oh, someone died in an anime where they're fighting! Oh, the humanity! This is so depressing!" Bah, they weren't even main characters, and they died being headstrong idiots. And I think the Female Titan was just humouring Eren at that point while he was raging. She's certainly fast enough that if he tried to bite, she could've just dodged out of the way, or flipped him off of her earlier.

It's apparent from before she didn't want to kill Eren, so I suppose eating him's the safest way to transport him. Assuming he doesn't Titan out in there this time.

Oh, and you know what deaths in the Special Ops Squad means? Means we get more main characters in there, Mikasa for sure, hell, maybe all of the 104th who joined the Survey Corps. Maybe two squads now, Squad Levi and Squad Jean/ Squad Mikasa.

Yes, I noticed what Armin said. But since it's not 100% confirmed, I'm not going to mention it. Just in case someone did miss the point.

I really want to draw Levi spinning with his blades. It would be so much fun.

There's an idea. *goes off to do it* Really nice that I now have a reference for him sitting on my wall :edgy:
So I finally grew a brain and remembered to give myself a signature... Whoopee.
Snackoos IRL. They are delicious and are covered in real chocolate. #so-grateful-I'm-Filipino

Excuse me if I contradict myself. I do that.

So have either of you drawn Spinning Levi then?

Ah, if I could just draw, I'd be doing random members of the Survey Corps, some on horses, some on maneuver gear, some transitioning from horses to maneuver gear.

It's getting there. I've been busy lately, but I will finish it! Unlike all my other fanart attempts.

Holy shit, Levi's fast. And seems he had reason to be especially pissed at losing Petra.
Bloody Dieter, getting people killed because he can't accept that sometimes it's too risky to the still living to gather the bodies. You'd think he'd know that, being in the Survey Corps and all.
And this one instance of the Survey Corps facing massive losses to an unknown force when people already know Titans are extremely dangerous leading the higher ups to decide Eren needs handed over? Something smells fishy here.
Wonder what Armin's got planned for Annie next week. Crazy theory me says he's going to propose. Sensible me says it's going to be anything but that.
Oh, and that kid waving had the right attitude, the Survey Corps are frakking heroes, especially next to the civilians complaining about them wasting taxes. Would you rather find out about the Female Titan when she shows up tearing down your house?
