I just bought the box set today. I don't know WHY, but I'm becoming obsessed with this anime! >.<

I don't consider it the best ever made, mind you, that's saved for a couple other animes (Zoids and MS Gundam Wing Zero...) but to be honest, it's pretty damn good. I preferred watching it in its broadcast order, though it confused me until I finally watched the chronological order... so many things explained better that way. XD;

But yes, I enjoyed it. Poor Mikuru...

RESURRECTION!

I just wanted to point out that Bamboo Leaf Rhaphsody which was one of the light novels, is now a episode that aired recently alongside the original episodes in the series! Is this a tease for a new season/remade series?!!

If I had the money, I'd buy the series. I still owe my parents money for the novel

NovelS, actually. I believe Melancholy, Sigh, and Boredom have been released in English, and from what I've seen of them, (Stupid booksellers never having the freaking thing!) they're pretty good.

I got Disappearance in the mail today (despite supposedly having a release date of next week but hell I'm not complaining) and finished watching the second season tonight.

Um.

Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody and Sigh are both super, they follow the original stories pretty closely, but Endless Eight... If you really want to watch that story, watch the first, second, and last episodes ONLY. Skip parts 3 through 7. Just...trust me on this one. This is the big reason fans hated this season so much.

Spoiler: If you REALLY want to know
Time loop. Each episode covers the same two week period over and over again. You know how that happens in Higurashi but each time, there's differences in how things unfold and clues to solving the mystery? None of that here. Not counting the first episode and the eighth where the loop is broken, every episode in between is EXACTLY THE SAME. There's subtle changes like minor variations in dialogue and different clothing the characters wear, but that's it. There is absolutely no reason to bother watching the exact same series of events six times in a row.

I kept watching each episode, hoping one of them would have something important happen, some sort of change in the way events folded or a breakthrough, but nothing. Please learn from my sacrifice.

I love Haruhi!! At first I thought the main plot line was confusing as hell, so I watched it in English and it helped a bit, but I still get confused a bit with stuff they talk about, especially Yuki and Koizumi, oh god... I'm no good with that kind of stuff...

I've actually grown to like it more recently. I have three posters in my room now, Haruhi's school uniform costume, and I recently got Mikuru's "battle waitress from the future" costume XD I also found the first manga in Japanese at Half Price Books this past year, which I was pretty excited about :will:

THIS. Oh. My. God. I hated Endless Eight. What a major let down and total waste of time. Not to mention the only reason they were going through the time loop was because
Spoiler:
Haruhi wanted the SOS brigade to work on their summer homework and finish it together.
I mean, REALLY!? I started watching probably the first...3 episodes of Endless Eight, then I started fast-forwarding through the 4th and 5th to see if anything changed, then I just skipped them until ep. 8, which if I recall, was the same until the very end. Bless you for having the sanity to watch the entire thing. Good thing I watched them on Youtube, where I could just skip the episodes; I can't even imagine how annoying it must've been for the Japanese fans... D:

Endless Eight was much MUCH better in the light novels. The anime butchered it completely.
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

That's a little suprising considering how closely the anime followed the first and second novels. I take it EE is in the third?

On that note, Disappearance was damn awesome. I just hope the movie sticks to the book.

I don't have any posters, but I do have a couple pins, along with the complete limited edition DVD set of the first season, the first four manga volumes, and even though I have the first two novels in paperback, I bought them along with the third and fourth in hardcover once I found out they existed in that format. First and third are still in the mail, though... That's not too much stuff...right?

I didn't even know you could get the light novels out here. Must. Get.

I started reading it online awhile back, but I stopped reading because I remembered that I hate reading long texts on the computer. It hurts my eyes and I get lost way too easily.

I also have the first two DVDs and then found out that they now have a complete first season set. I need that in my life right now.

Convenient that this got revived, as the "second season" (if you can call it that because it's an interquel) was released on DVD over here in Europe on July 4, so I've only just finished watching the entire series again with the full episode count.

I liked Endless Eight. I am officially a masochist. It was definitely twice as long as it needed to be though, it should have been three parts, especially when there's plenty of ground to cover in the later novels.

Especially true now that new novels are being released again. Funny to think that the anime is only about 1/3 of the way through the novel canon now.
Does we even do these things anymore?

To be blunt: DVD. And I recommend you get the DVDs, they're great. The first volume even has the dub in 5.1.

I forgot to mention that according to my Amazon pre-order (:D) The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, aka the three-hour movie adaption of the fourth novel is released on Blu-Ray and DVD in Region 2 on October 3. It's set after (most of) the existing anime episodes so watch those first.

When I originally placed this pre-order it was due out July 11. :(

This has reminded me to get the second season box set (along with haruhi-chan AND nyoro~n churuya) from amazon!
And yes,
I have seen all of Endless Eight before.
And yes,
I do intend to watch it ALL again (even though 3,4 and 6 are the worst of them all) [I'm not insane!] :kyouya:

Why did they put the release date of Disappearance back!!! :larry:

Also, 'grrr' at the manga for being so slow :/

Haruhi has been one of my favourite shows for a long time. Also one of the first anime I didn't see on TV. It's a funny and nice looking show that really shows what Kyoani was and still is capable of. Stay away from endless eight though. I heard the movie was amazing, but I haven't seen it yet. Shame on me.

I wish the movie would come out already! :zenitora:

I didn't even know there was a Haruhi thread on here :D And when I thought life couldn't get any better /shot

I've been a huge Haruhi fan for a while now, and I'm really excited for the Disappearance movie DVD release over here! Bandai held back it's release since January, so I'm really hyped for this XD

Oh, and I heard some really bad news about Aya Hirano...
SHE MIGHT NOT BE THE VOICE ACTRESS OF HARUHI ANYMORE :beef:
