Cloverfield is apparently the name of the military operation regarding this thing. Personally, I just call it 'that thing'.
You don't have to analyze it... I just watched it and thought about it after. It only cost me 8.50 at my theater, so not that big a deal <3

Technically, I would be considered a geek here as I do watch movies and I do read a lot of books. I won't say anything else since we're all entitled to an opinion...

I wasn't surprised with the movie. The ending does raise the issue, will they be fine or not? Practically, it looks like we have to tune into the second movie but I never liked such mind-warping movies. And I'm happy to say that. Agree or argue with me, fine.

You totally missed the point, but you've confirmed at least one thing.

I'm a geek and proud of it <3 Ask Ami, she knows about my obsession with books XD But this thread is really about the movie, not about how many movies we watch...

I went and saw Cloverfield the other other day with my friends. It was really good, I really enjoyed it. I told my sister, despite the fact she wanted to see it, she probably shouldn't. She gets motion sickness easily.

My only disappointment was the fact they took the whole idea of creatures living on the monster from Sin from FFX.
Atticus Finch is my hero.

I was just saying that Sin was the first monster to have parasites living on it that broke off and attacked people. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I thought the overall concept was interesting, but it reminded me too much of the Blair Witch Project (formatting, not the plot). I probably wasn't too into it because I'm not a thriller movie person. And shaky cameras make me dizzy after an hour or so.
But I like how some of the monster arts look like what would happen if all the creatures at Sea World were mutated into one.

Okay, my (and AcroH8r's) two cents.

-Short. An hour and a half seems like a long time for a monster movie, and I have a really, really short attention span. But, the action and general jerkiness of the home video format made getting bored impossible. There weren't any drawn-out scenes of people making out or imploding (a plus in my book), as the movie almost felt like a hundred clips pieced together.

-Visually impressive. Some of the best cinematography I've seen. It feelsreal. The CGI was believable, and the gore not overdone.

-Depressing. Don't get me wrong-I loved the ending-but it was sad, and a tad bit disturbing. If you're in a really great mood or a really terrible mood, spare yourself an hour of bawling and go see Enchanted.

Kthanksbai.

Just a note, all: I haven't been on in a while, so I'm trying to get my little persona here back in order. I won't be on as much in the future, maybe a few times a week. Sorry!

I just saw it, and I must say it was a pretty fine movie. I loved the annoying-as-hell cameraman...he had some funny lines.

The monster wasn't that cool though.

I thought the movie was pretty good overall. The camera got kind of annoying along with the random romance sub-plot but it made up for it as the movie went on and you saw bits of the moster at a time and not all at once. The one thing that annoyed me the most was...
Spoiler:
When they are escaping by helicopter, they seem to be going the direct route as the monster. Even as its getting bombed. If you were the pilot wouldn't you want to avoid the gaint monster below you?

But, whatever...it was still pretty good.
