And I for one liked the endless cameos. If only because of the five seconds of Luke. (God I'm such a fag for the Sarah Jane Adventures ]: )

Eh, I know it wasn't the best, but it was a decent end to Tennant. Plus, plenty of Master <3

I'm curious.

I thought it was a really good episode, including all the random cameos.

Spoiler:
I loved how he went around and helped everyone one last time. And I really like Alanzo, so I'm glad he got one more cameo. I liked how it explained more of what happened in the Time War and just why he had to kill all the Time Lords. It was a good explanation, too. The two alien were good characters, and Wilf has always been a good character.

The one thing I didn't like was how he was still fighting regeneration in the end. I think it would have been a better ending if he would've accepted it in the end, going into his next regeneration yelling "Alon-zy!" or something. The same thing bothered me when Donna lost her memories. I think she should have been able to accept that at the end as well.

I think Matt Smith looks like he'll make a great doctor. He does look a bit strange, but he's by no means ugly, or a bad actor. The "I'm a girl!" line highly amused me. Don't prejudge him. At least wait until you see him in a full episode. Unless you really enjoy hating people for no good reason, then by all means, go ahead.

Man, I can't wait until Spring.

ShadowEdgeworth's avatar saddens me.

Hey, I dun like the new guy much, but then I said the same when Tennant first appeared. Oh how wrong I was. The Doctor is a character actors grow into. They start off a little conservative and iffy but then take their own personality into it. I hope the Smith manages to, cos I'm sceptical.

And yea, no doubt they'll find a cheap clause to allow more than 13 Doctors. He'll put regeneration energy into a cat or something and get 9 more lives.
Having said that, with Russell T. Davies gone, cheesyness is likely out of the window.

The revisiting old friends before he regenerated was explained in the "Doctor Who Confidential" episode on BBC3 afterwards.
Now Stephen Moffat is taking the reigns as writer and producer, Davies reckoned old characters wont be reused, so he was giving them all a final send-off. Again, Davies being sentimental and cheesy.
Only returning character will be Professor River Song I reckon (from the Library episodes with the Vashta Narada, you know, the one with the Sonic Screwdriver who knows his real Time Lord name? I bet it's Tracy.)

I'm excited for Stephen Moffat taking over. His episodes are my favorite. He doesn't kill everyone like Russell T. Davies does.

Professor River Song is kind of a confusing character, because she obviously had met the Doctor in the Doctor's future, however, he never meets her again as the tenth (as far as I know, I haven't seen every episode.). So how did she recognize him as the tenth and assume he would know her right away?

It would be really interesting to see her again, but I'm not sure she'll be brought back. Her character obviously has a very long and complicated relationship with the doctor, and bringing her back might end up making everything too complicated and just annoying to deal with.

I personally think that Tennant was one of the best Doctors so he will be a very tough act to follow.

I do think that Matt will be brilliant though, I mean look at the trailer! But why must his catchphrase be "GERONIMO!"?! It's no where near as good as "Allons-y!" or "Fantastic!".

Tom Baker was the best imo.

And I like "Geronimo". I don't like it more than the other 2 though.

The best catchphrase for me is: "Do you want a jelly baby?"

I think David Tennant and Tom Baker were both brilliant, and just because David Tennant came after Tom Baker (not directly, but still after) doesn't make him any less brilliant. The same could be true of Matt Smith. We don't really know yet. I do like the catch phrase "Geronimo", though.

I don't dislike David at all, especially not because he came later. I just like Tom Baker's Doctor more. All the Doctors are awesome IMO, even Colin Baker's. Seriously, he's hated far too much.

I still want eppy titles for Fnarg! ><

I know, I was more responding to ShadowEdgeworth's comment that Tennant will be tough to follow. I was saying that if Tennant can be good despite following Baker, then Smith can be good following Tennant.

The only doctor I have a problem with is Christopher Eccleston.

Eccleston was fantastic! He was different, sure, but the new series' success has to be largely handed to him for doing well enough to warrant a second season and beyond.

He just wasn't Doctorish enough. And it doesn't really help that Russell T. Davies likes angst anyway. I know I'm probably in the minority, but I just don't like him.

No, I didn't like him either. But then that might have something to do with the fact I started watching Doctor Who with David Tennant.... :bellboy:

He just irritated me for some reason.

Not just in acting, I mean fan-love and adjustment. Don't forget, Tennant (and Eccleston) has made the series unarguably one of the most popular UK sci-fi shows ever, earning countless awards. It'll take time for some people to get back into the series, especially after the year-long break. Five Who episodes at different points of the year wasn't the best idea they could have done.

Once my sister saw the trailer, she screamed "The b*****d ruined David's suit! Grrr!" *shakes fist*

Hopefully, Matt will go the same way as Peter Davison- I.E. Young guy successfully fits into role as Doctor, does great, wins fan-love.

Of course, there will be the Tennant fan-girls who hated him from the exact second he was announced, and probably wouldn't be happy until he "degenerated", who'll not tune into the new series, thus having lower ratings.

The initial ratings will start off lower, but will eventually build when Matt fits into the role. Then he gets fan-girls.

Then it'll all happen all over again when he goes and a new Doctor comes in.

I don't know why but I hate Eccleston. I dunno what it is about him, I just think that he wasn't too good.

And for the record, I hate Rose. She was chavvy (1 point against her), she was clingy (2 points), and, well, I dunno how anyone can like her character (3 points? Still 2? Blergh, points system ftl).

It appears there's a reasonably small group on YouTube kicking up a huge fuss in the comments section on anything Series 5 related ranting about Matt and saying they'll miss "DAVEY-POO" or whatever. Bah. Anyone who says they'll stop watching when Matt Smith comes is an idiot.
Newsflash, people: It's called "Doctor Who", not "The David Tennant Show". The show survived 26 years without him in the 60s-80s, it'll survive for probably just as long without him in the future. David Tennant was a great Doctor and I'll admit I sobbed... a huge amount at the end of the End of Time. But the show'll survive without him.
(Note - this wasn't directed at anyone in this thread at all. I just need to blow off some steam due to the fact certain fans all over the internet are being very bitchy)

I know how you feel, Skuly. And ShadowEdgeworth, what you say is true. Every single new doctor ruins the show forever, until they're amazing and there's no way the next one will be able to live up to them, because they'll ruin the show forever. XD It's kind of funny, really.

I didn't like Rose, either. She was my least favorite companion. She was just kind of annoying.

I hope Doctor Who gets an award at the National Television Awards tonight. Here's it's nominations.

Best Actor (David Tennant)
Best Drama

Odds are looking good, as Doctor Who has picked up both awards every year in a row since 2005.

And Billie Piper picked up best actress in 2005 and 2006 for playing Rose. :larry:

I hope Tennant gets it, since it is his last year as the Doctor. It wouldn't be right for him to not at least get special recoginition for his very successful era as the Doctor.

I never liked Rose. That whole storyline where she went off with the Doctor's clone was just...screwed up :edgeworth: Martha was my most disliked of all the companions though.

I vowed never to watch the show after Christopher Eccleston left, but my friend forced me to watch the first episode with David Tennant and I was HOOKED. I just hope Matt Smith turns out to be the same kind of pleasant surprise XD

Doctor Who won best drama at the NTAs and David Tennant won outstanding drama performance. Mind you, they were both the most deserving of their nominations. And I can say that without being biased. XD

Yay for Doctor Who winning stuff!

I didn't mind Martha that much. She wasn't particularly interesting, but she wasn't actively annoying like Rose was, either.

In other news, I just got my hair cut like Donna. It actually looks pretty good on me, too.

And no, I am not too obsessed with Doctor Who. I don't know what you're talking about. Leave me alone.
