I don't see any place made for music...

I was wondering what people here enjoyed listening to.

I prefer:
Jazz (grew up with it)
Hip Hop (favorite, grew up with it)
Electronica (wide genre...)

And does anyone else like hip hop? I have noticed that most people that post in forums lean towards classic rock or heavy metal lol some sort of rock music. And whenever hip hop is mentioned I see "eww it sucks you suck you're dumb it's dumb it has no point no real meaning blah blah blah"

btw, i hate hip-hop. I like Jazz, Rock(and punk rock), Bossa and Classical music though. XD

Yeah, I would assume Global Studios is for all entertainment talk (excluding video games) considering there's a manga topic floating around right now.

ANYHOW, I like all types of music...mostly? It depends; I like a little bit of everything. Though, I have to say country music and really hardcore yelling type music are not up at the top there. :/

I even like hip-hop. The good kind. Not what people think hip-hop is (ie. the stuff on the radio...which is not hip-hop...it's just crap) :P

Hmm, I listen to rock, alternative, country, punk, pop, pop rock, punk rock... Pretty much everything except techno, rap, hip-hop and metal.

Lately, I've been getting into J-Pop more and more.

I saw your name in the "___ Movie" thread, and couldn't help but smile...another Hip-Hop head..woo...Dilla was one of a kind, R.I.P to one of the greatest. Such a shame he passed.

Do you have any favorite albums/collabs of his? His work with Madlib is probably my favorite...they had some great chemistry.


As you can tell from my name as well, I'm into Hip-Hop...it's my main love, but I pretty much like all types of music...my musical tastes are pretty crazy in general.


I feel you on the Hip-Hop stuff, it's hard to find people who like it, as much as I do to discuss it.

Ah, finally someone I can relate to. It is sad he passed so young. The way he programmed drums was crazy.

The collab with Madlib is great. Those two worked so well together. I think Madlib learned a lot from him. I still think he did a great job producing "Runnin'" with the pharcyde; classic shit. De la Soul and Tribe were also good with him producing tracks. I miss him doing so much with people.

Yeah, I noticed your name somewhere and I was surprised. I always feel like the only one on the forum when most kids here listen to rock. I'm not saying it's a bad genre I just can't get into like they can lol some I can but most is eh... I first heard the Deltron album in 8th grade. I started listening to Hiero back in 6th/7th grade. Changed my life, seriously. I'm excited for the second deltron album. Del still needs to work on the lyrics but koala and Automator are done.

Opio's new album is coming out soon. So far from what I have heard on youtube, the album looks good.

I could go on and on and on lol

Hm... well I probably enjoy hard rock and heavy metal the most of all music. I also like alternative rock, country, and classical music. Most other styles of music are just fine, I'm either not familiar with them or just prefer different qualities and styles in music. As for hip-hop, some of it is good and some is bad but I don't specifically care much for the genre.

I feel you w/ the Dilla...he was crazy on the boards...I feel fortunate that we were able to hear his genius.

Deltron's probably one of my favorite albums ever...I've listened to that CD so much I've had to repurchase it a few times (despite making digital copies for back up). I'm excited w/ the second Deltron album too...I can't wait to hear what the trio has cooked up...I was a little disappointed w/ Del's newest joint, but after a few spins, it has grown on me...he experimented a lot on that new joint. I can't wait to hear some new automator, too.

I think Del's one of the few emcees I can actually relate to, that's why he's one of my favorites. I remember reading an interview a while back that he was reluctant to enter the hip-hop game...I think he might have also said it was weak...I'm glad Cube, and some others convinced him otherwise.

Who are some of your favorite emcees/producers?


What I do hate though is how the genre has been so bastardized by commercialism and image...it's sadly not about the music (as much) anymore. There are a few "commercial" acts that still care, as well as "underground" (I really hate labeling it like that, honestly), but the genre's so saturated with BS it's hard to find that good new stuff...I mainly listen to acts I already know, sadly...but there are a few acts I've gotten into over the last few years, but not as many as I have in the past, when the genre was booming with dopeness.

Lol, like you I could go on and on...I could talk about Hip-Hop for hours.

I like mostly videogame music, but I do enjoy a lot of rock. All types - classic, death metal, alternative, metal, and the list goes on. I also like techno, dance, and trance, and classic rap/classic hip-hop. I'm not into the newer music with the exception of a couple songs. I listen to the same rap songs now than I did when I was in the 6th grade... I can't stand the new stuff. My music taste is very random. I have about 18 gigs of music.

I like my metal loud, aggressive, and parent-scaring. If I ever get a car I'm going to play "The Number of the Beast" on my radio at full blast just to piss/scare the hell out of everyone. You think rap is scary? Wait 'till you hear Iron Maiden, bitches! There's something errily delightful and satisfying about throwing up the devil horns in defiance of authority. \m/

My hightlight metal artists include:

-AC/DC
-Black Sabbath
-DragonForce
-Iron Maiden
-Judas Priest
-Metallica
-Guns N' Roses
-Rammstein
-Ozzy Osbourne

I need to check out more.

I can tolerate most styles of music, meaning I'm open to pop, contemporary, select rap, etc. but heavy metal is my favorite right now.

Also, hard rock.

J-pop and Para Para!! :edgy: Ah, I love Eurobeat. *nods* I like some J-rock as well.

Other genres I enjoy are indie, alternative, power pop, shoegaze, some punk, some emo (like older emo, not the newer poseur emo. >_<), some hardcore, and pop. I'm not too big in hip-hop or rap, but I do like some songs. I'm pretty open to music. I'll try anything at least once. ^_^

I love rock. :rock'n: Classic rock (*points to username XD*), alt-rock, maybe a little metal sometimes. And I'm COMPLETELY OBSESSED with Muse. I've mostly been listening to their songs on repeat for the past month. XD Electronica/Techno can be pretty cool, too. Anyone here heard of Second Person? And I love TWEWY's soundtrack, even though I'm not really a hip-hop or a J-Pop/J-Rock person.

i am an indie hipster bitch who smokes. which is not to say that i do not listen to rap/hip-hop or electronica or metal, because those are some of my favorite genres. it's just that not a whole lot can compare to yeasayer, iron & wine, bright eyes, cat power and kings of convenience.

although boris is pretty much my favorite band ever. sunnO))) is pretty fucking rad as well, so there you go. oh, and merzbow. harhar i guess i just tend to enjoy all music.

I'll pretty much listen to everything almost anything ...I don't know if I can even say that I have a preference for a certain genre, I just enjoy music in general. I love rock in general, but that's a really wide category. I guess kinda like prog rock, but I don't think I've actually listened to enough of it for me to say it's my favorite. Other than that, it's really more of an "oh I like this band" rather than an "oh this band plays x genre of music so I should listen to them" thing for me.

Also, wizard rock is totally my secret obsession.
