Just got back from seeing it. Best movie of the summer! Totally blows The Dark Knight out of the water.

Spoiler:
Not really, of course.

It's the epitome of cliche, cheesy, and unrealistic but if you go to see it and expect it to bring about the rapture then you're better off wasting your ten bucks on Hancock. It's silly, it's stupid, and it's nothing we haven't seen before but it doesn't try to be anything it isn't and is just a solid, well-done CGI action flick that's at least worth a rent. It's nice to see that in a summer packed with so many movies with deep, pretentious motives that there's still a hankering for some good ol' "gun-on-skeleton" action. It won't make you question the meaning of life but you could definitely do worse.

P.S. I think it's pretty amusing that at some points the movie plays like an outright satire.

Dude A: "Make yourself my wife and I will spare him."

Dude B: "Don't worry about me! You must live!"

Girl C: "You're going to kill him anyway."

Dude A: "...You're right." *kills Dude B*

I don't think it's released in this country, though what you say looks true.

If it's anything like The Mummy Returns, it's gonna be a big disappointment..and seeing how Rachel Weiz has been replaced by someone else, it's starting to look that way.

I think it's going to be released this coming friday, actually.

I'll quote one of my friends who went to watch it with me.
"GO WATCH DARK KNIGHT AGAIN FOR THE 5th TIME!"
'Nuff said.

I liked it. Maybe I'm biased because I liked all of the Mummy films. Maybe I am biased because I walked into 'The Dark Knight', a non-batman fan, and came out the same way. I still thing it wouldn't have done nearly as well head Heath lived.

I liked it alot. I guess if I think this was better than DK, I am obviously just a kid with no taste in good movies. -___-

I'm a Mummy fan and this movie was SHIT. D<

The characters had absolutely no chemistry. I HATED the older son and the lady who replaced Rachel Weiz.

Edit: And Brendan Frasier beating Jet Li in a fistfight? XD No effing way.

The cliche is so thick you could cut it with a butter knife.

I agree that the movie could of been better it wasn't a pile of shit it was a pile of crap.

Spoiler: "plot" spoilers (and I mean that in the loosest sense of the word)
Ninja Girl: We have to stop him from coming to life or HE'LL TAKE OVER THE WORLD AND ALL WILL BE LOST.

Everyone else: Oops.

Ninja Girl: Well, um, then... We have to stop him from getting to the sacred temple or HE'LL TAKE OVER THE WORLD AND ALL WILL BE LOST.

Everyone else: Ok, we have to edge, so... wait no nevermind.

Ninja Girl: Fine, our only hope is beating him to Shangri-la or he'll become immortal and raise his army and HE'LL TAKE OVER THE WORLD AND ALL WILL BE LOST.

Everyone else: We definately have him this time, we'll just... whoops.

Ninja Girl: Erm, his... his soldiers aren't infallible until they cross the threshold of the Great Wall! We have to stop that from happening or HE'LL TAKE OVER THE WORLD AND ALL WILL BE LOST.

Me: I don't think this chick understands the meaning of "All will be lost" D:

This movie baffled me.

Well, that explains everything.

Seriously, I don't know why everyone was expecting so much out of this movie.

I haven't seen it, but I saw an advert for it with someone screaming in the most ludicrous voice 'die, you mummies, DIIIIIIIIIIE!' So I have a suspicion that it's not going to be very good. I'm not going to see it.

This.

I also like how they consistently call him "Dragon Emperor" and not "Qin". They can make up bullshit about Imhotep and use his name, but use information that is actually true (in some tangential way) then make up a stereotypical Asian-sounding title?

It's just confusingly...pointless, is all. "Qin", one syllable. "The Dragon Emperor", a waste of breath.

And they keep calling the emperor and his terracotta army mummies! THEY'RE NOT MUMMIES. That weird curse may have preserved the shape of their bodies but that's NOT mummification. >_<

That's another thing that bothered me as I was watching it.

Now I haven't seen this movie, so maybe this is a stupid question, but aren't the terracotta soldiers just... made of clay? That is, they're NOT the bodies of people at all? So then how exactly do they come to life? :eh?:

Wait... am I saying that it's logical for MUMMIES to come to life? :meekins:

Well, good thing you haven't seen the movie but....

There was this curse that burned the emperor and imprisoned him in his tomb. His entire army turned into clay statues and once the emperor is brought back to life (OF COURSE.) they start moving. Like moving terracotta people. They shatter. :D

Actually, I heard that there's a real terracotta army that they're excavating in China. What's weird is that every single one of the hundreds of statues is unique. Each one has a face of their own, no duplicates.

I find it amusing that people have managed to fabricate so many criticisms for this movie. A mummy movie no less.
