Phoenix is a manga epic written by Osamu Tezuka, called by some "the father of modern manga". (he's often remembered as the creator of Astro Boy)Tezuka considered it his life's work and unfortunately he passed away before it could be completed.

There are 12 volumes in the Phoenix saga, shifting between the past and the future with each volume. Although each volume has it's own separate stand-alone story, they are all connected as a whole. Phoenix is the story of mankind, from its beginning to its destruction. And through the approximate 4000 years of the storyline, the history of mankind is viewed by the title character: the immortal phoenix.

Today I read Phoenix for the first time; Volume 5: Phoenix: Resurrection. I've only read one volume so far and I now consider it to be one of the most amazing things I've ever read. I can't wait to read more! Fortunately, Phoenix is easy to find nowadays. Look for it at your local bookstore or comic book store. I recommend it to anyone and everyone.
