Quote:
Thirteen has proven not-so-lucky for Fox's veteran animated comedy "King of the Hill."
After several previous brushes with cancellation, the network has opted not to renew the series beyond its current 13th season.
In April, Fox picked up 13 more episodes from the 20th Century Fox TV-produced show, which are wrapping production.

A lot has changed since "King of the Hill" premiered in 1997. Its creators Greg Daniels and Mike Judge have moved on to other projects -- Daniels developed and is running NBC's "The Office," and Judge has a new animated series, "The Goode Family," launching on ABC in midseason.

Judge had continued to voice the central character on the toon comedy, alongside voiceover cast members Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Brittany Murphy, Tom Petty, Johnny Hardwick and Stephen Root.

"Hill" has been exec produced by Judge, Daniels, John Altschuler, Dave Krinsky, Michael Rotenberg, Howard Klein, Jim Dauterive and Garland Testa.
Fox is introducing two new animated series in midseason, Mitch Hurwitz's "Sit Down, Shut Up" and the "Family Guy" spinoff "The Cleveland Show."

I'm not sure if there are any fans of this show on the board, but I was a fan. So it sucks it see it go, it was a good 11ish run. Fox's Sunday is dying slowly :(

Probably the only show with a redneck cast I actually liked.

Ah well, it was fun while it lasted. =(

Couldn't it have least gone out with dignity? Instead of being replaced with shows like 'The Clevland show' and 'animated show based on a short-lived australian sitcom no one liked'.

Damn that was a good cartoon.
They may be going downhill, but as long as they have The Simpsons the'll probably be allright (now if they dropped them it's over).

King of the Hill was an interesting show, one that had a very unique sense of humor.
It's probably the majority's lack of understanding the show's full comedic effect (you'd be surprised how many people around me can't stand this show for being "weird") that forced their hand to cancel it...and "The Cleaveland Show"? I haven't been watching too much Family Guy lately, but I don't think this guy has enough "star power" to hold his own series (I'm sure he has a steady fanbase, though).
All good things must come to an end, I suppose....
Who knows? Maybe it'll get lucky and get a revival in the future (heck, Family Guy was revived after a short time on DVD and syndication, didn't it?).
*sigh*
......
Yup....

It's humor was a lot more subtle in places, and I think it was one of the few Fox shows to be consistently funny over time.

A lot of people didn't appreciate it, because it wasn't a lot of gag-humor, or other bull crap.

I am still mad at Fox turning into "Whored-out Seth MacFarlane shit hour"

I don't get that bastard Hank.

For starters, he simply loves dogs, yet he hates cats for no real reason. I honestly don't see how someone could prefer dogs over those adorable little bundles of joy called cats.

Second, he acts like using anything except propane for BBQ would kill him. It's not that big of a deal.

Third, what pisses me off the most is that he also acts like using anything made outside the USA would kill him. Not only is that totally wrong, it's patriotic and racist. I don't care what anyone says, he may try to hide it, but deep down, he is a very racist man. (And by the way, patriotism and racism is basically the same thing. Only showing like torwards one's own country, but nothing but hate for other countries.)

Other than that bastard, I liked the show, and used to watch it, alot. And to be honest, Hank did have a funny voice. And sometimes, Peggy's bad Spanish made me laugh. I mean "Por Favor." (Fav ER she says, not Fav OR.) And it's true, that boy Bobby aint right. It was a good show. ... I just don't like Hank. ... or Dale for that matter. Dale can be quite annoying.

Lol @ last night's episode revolving around MySpace. That's the kinda stuff that makes "King" golden...it's mundane everyday stuff like logging/using MySpace, but spun to be funny (but not over the top, exaggerated).

Forgot to say that King of the Hill is a good-to-great show. It may not be laugh-out-loud hilarious (Dale mostly is though) but its has always been funny. Scrubs and Malcolm in the Middle however never gave me a smile. >_>;

If it moves, it'll be interesting to see how it affects the show...ABC isn't as carefree as Fox...I'm also curious about the time slot.

I hope this means they'll put all the seasons on FX where I can actually remember to watch them! I'm sorry to hear it's cancelled but at least it's better than dragging the show on when all the creators have already moved on.

It is apparently coming to Adult Swim for reruns.

That's totally weird since I associate frat boy and surrealist humor with their lineup. I guess they want to expand their horizons?

I had a teacher that talked exactly like him.

I'm really going to miss this show. It was one of the few shows about Texas that wasn't a blantant wrong stereotype of everything that people think they know about the state (I'm looking at you Marshall brothers). The comedy was based in reality, and not some random surrealist cutaways. Not that I mind shows that use that kind of humor, but King of the Hill was one of the few shows that didn't use it. It was refreshing in a way.

Don't forget it also has the 'whatever the hell is popular in japan so we can roll in money' shows they have on the weekends. But even then, that only reaches out to the Otakus.

Adult Swim doesn't' care about their anime anymore. It's on at weird, late times and never advertised.

Man, I don't know if it's the idea of the show getting cancelled, but the last few eps have been golden...the MySpace one, last night's (lol @ Principle Moss saying he has the disease where he wakes up drunk in some random place), Bill being a fake diabetic...so hopefully it goes out with a bang.

Lets hope not. That would be the stupidity equivilent of a live-action Simpsons movie. Some things just can't be made well into good movies.

You're not getting the joke. Hank was portrayed as the American Redneck. He goes to all stereotypes- hard work all the time, drinking beers with his average joe friends, loves his dog (man's best friend) sometimes more than his own son, is very conservative with his wife, is shy towards foreign things, is technologically handicapped. It was subtle that way and it was funny to people who got the joke.

What I hate about Seth MacFarlane is that he ALWAYS makes everything outward. He doesn't make anything subtle. Sometimes it's funny but other times its just overdone. The only jokes that are ever made are flashback jokes, which are literally fillers to take up time.

American Dad is slightly funnier, but still pretty outward in it's jokes and not subtle at all.

And this crappy new spin-off show? I read about it and the concept is just terrible.

:| I swear, he thinks he's the fucking king of animated comedy because he got uncanceled after high DVD sales. Family Guy use to be funny- at least a little funny. Now it's just stupid and pathetic.

Some people might not appreciate subtle things, because they might not get it, but the jokes are smart and smart comedy is far better in quality, than dumb jokes that make no sense, if you understand it.
