God, I really want to see this movie badly. It looks so damn good.

I'll just stick to the Audio book.

I'm gonna go see it with my friend real soon! It's 3:10 now, and the movie starts at 4:40... I'm so excited... I don't even know anything about the story, but it looks awesome! 8D

The Music... THE MUSIC. D:

Just watching the commerials is too much.

Post subject:  Re: Coraline

when I saw the commercials, I did not think "chick flick" at all, but I did feel like it'd be a good movie to take a girl to see. kinda weird.

looks good, though. you guys have to come back and (without spoiling it) give it the thumbs up/down.

Saw it earlier, absolutely loved it. It's one of those movies that years from now, the kids of today will post in threads about things that traumatized them. 8D

Spoiler:
Seriously, a FAMILY MOVIE with FORCED EYE SURGERY WITH NO ANESTHETIC THAT I KNEW OF, and the GHOST KIDS WHO WERE TRAPPED BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T FIND THEIR EYES...

...Man, this movie rocks!

Oh, and also, it's going to make you lose The Game.

I think I read that book when I was 10 or 11.

The "Other" Mom still creeps me out. >:

I was gonna see this today but I didn't have time. D: I'll probably see it this week.

I read a great review for it, so I'm excited! :D

If you can, go see it in 3D. It is the least gimmicky, most immersive 3D film I have seen. Just under WALL-E on my top list. The movie felt, oddly enough, like "Spirited Away" meets "Labyrinth".

I wanted to watch the movie ever since I first saw it on commercial. I was CAPTIVATED. I wanted to watch it RIGHT THERE AND THEN. I still do! I'm hopefully going to watch it soon. My friends and I were all talking about it and we are all intrigued.
One big factor in wanting to see it is probably because it's Tim Burton-esque. Most likely because it's made by the visual director of Nightmare Before Christmas. I need to read the novel too.

I didn't see it myself but my family did in 3D. They all loved it, alot. So when I get free time I am going to see it. They haven't been wrong yet. And one of my brothers hates alot of movies and he loved this one...

Oh man, I was like that, too! I saw the commercial and went "I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT'S ABOUT, BUT IT LOOKS AWESOME AND I HAVE TO SEE IT!" So my friend and I made plans to see it the day after it opened (waiting much longer would've been torture)... it was at least as awesome as I expected!

Ugh, the official site is horrifically lag-tastic on my computer, though... I hate all-Flash sites... good thing someone posted the wallpapers on DeviantArt in a resolution that I can use.

Neil Gaiman, getting more recognized in movies than books/comic books.

This is sad.

I'll have you know, I loved Sandman and Neverwhere.

Andy Kubert is supposed to be working on a Batman comic with Gaiman. I'm so excited for that :3

Anyway, getting back on-topic, I loved Coraline. But damn, I really wanted to see it in 3D D:
I was hoping there'd be more of Bobinsky in the movie since he was used in a lot of online ads.
This one made me laugh.

I saw it last night in 3D!

It was good. ^_^ But for some reason from reading reviews of it I had expected it to be creepier. And I wished theey could've had more time to develop the neighbors more. But besides that it was amazing.

And this movie is proof that cats are badass. :butzthumbs:

Just saw it in 3D tonight; it was FABULOUS.

I read the book back in 8th grade (I'm a freshman in college now); so when I heard they were making a movie I was curious. When I saw some screen shots, I had been super disappointed because they didn't live up to my vision of the book. Though, the trailer totally convinced me, and I am glad that I finally got to see the movie. It really made me want to pick up the book again. :)

Eh, Coraline was kind of

Forgettable.

Kind of completely forgettable to be honest, if I go see a few more movies this week it'll be pushed to the back of my mind

It's really not as good as anyone is claiming.

Considering nothing good's come out of the theaters in a while you're kinda screwed 'cause there's a good chance you'll have seen them already.

Although some idiot gave 3 1/2 stars to The International over here.

I've got the power of The Loft Cinema and their independent-theater-ness, so I won't have to put up with THE INTERNATIONAL and PAUL BLART MALL COP in my ongoing quest to constantly gorge myself with movies.

Sorry Coraline but Waltz With Bashira is guaranteed to one-up you in the animated films department.

Yah, I hear that. The Ex-Centris closed down earlier this month. No mo' independent cinema much around here due to that. Then again we do get some local movies that are sometimes worth watching.

And I thought someone like you'd have seen Waltz With Bashir already.

Well of course it's a British children's book.

Well, I just finished the book... I don't remember the last time I read a book that fast (one that wasn't a graphic novel). In fact, this is the first library book in a really long time that I've actually bothered to finish.

But is it just me, or did the movie seem to have more of a sense of urgency and excitement from the point when
Spoiler:
the other mother tried to give Coraline the buttons?

Maybe it has to do with the fact that I saw the movie first and had no idea what was gonna happen, but also
Spoiler:
the movie!ghost kids had the whole "SHE'S GOING TO RIP OUT YOUR EYES!" kind of nightmare fuel-ish thing going on.

Wow, I loved this movie. The 3D was amazing and it didn't have any, as my friend said when referring to Spy Kids 3, "cop-out" effects where they do the "looooooook at my poooooointer finger!!!" ("use my paaaaaaaaaaddleball!")... stuff. Overall, I thought the movie was very well-made, even if it gave me the shivers at some points...
Spoiler: erm...
yeah, those ghost kids made my spine tingle... though when the other mother turned into the spider thing with all the webs around her, I was more impressed than scared with the effects. And don't even get me started on the fat ladies...

and the garden scene was awesome. BD

Did anyone stick around after the credits? There's a word that shows up on the screen that is pretty useful if you know what it's for... <_<
