Sorry if we've already had a topic on Kanon. I did run a search and got no results though.

So I just finished watching the 2006 version of Kanon, and I absolutely loved it. It was so emotional and yet had a certain comedic edge at the same time. The artwork was just great. The music fit the situations well, even if the opening was a bit too depressing and the credits song was a bit too upbeat. It was very well written in my opinion. The dubbing was amazing, but I'd expect no less from ADV. I was never a fan of Brittney Karbowski but I felt she was brilliant as Ayu.

I seriously think episode 10 should win some kind of award for how emotional and upsetting it was. It broke my heart. There are very few times I've cried at the media, and while episode 10 didn't do it it came pretty damn close. Though it upset me I can't help but love it.

Sorry I'm going into a review here, didn't mean to :P. My personal favourite characters are Nayuki and Makoto. So what do others think of the series? Either the 2002 series, the 2006 remake, the original visual novels, it doesn't matter. Just discuss Kanon.

Can't help you there. I haven't seen that many myself (barely know what the word means).

Kanon is a good anime. Mai is by far my favorite character.
Spoiler: ending spoilers
I still don't like how he ends up with Ayu. I felt like they had more of a brother/sister relationship than a romantic one, but whatever. I would have preferred him with Mai or Shiori.

I have no Photoshop skills, so I have no sig. Boo...

Well...
Spoiler: Last couple of episodes
You didn't see that coming when they kissed? XD. I just plain can't decide whether I like the ending or not. I'm not sure I get it. So... she was in a coma all that time... then how... with the spirit and all that and... it would have made more sense if she was dead. How did she have all those memories when she woke up exactly? Then again, we're talking about an anime with a fox that became human and a girl who created demons, so I don't know why I'm questioning this...

I think (I'm not certain) that it ends slightly differently in the 2006 edition.

Which one was the one where they all end up digging holes in the park at the end or something? Ugh... I've seen so much anime it all just kind of runs together.

How it is compared to other games though... It's exactly what you'd expect of anything based on a Dating Sim. The non-porn ones anyway... Though a few of those have been made into clean anime too...

I loved Kanon [2006]. I watched it last spring. I really just loved all the characters in general...

On a side note, I really just love the Key-based anime. For me, Kanon was better than Air. Dunno about Clannad, though. I've only seen two episodes so far.

It's a Key harem, practically its own subgenre. It's moe and filled with dying girls and Depressing-for-the-sake-of-Depressing storylines.

It's pretty laughably bad

Then why are you even posting on this topic? Seriously, if you don't like it then bugger off. This is a topic where we discuss why we like it!

2002 Kanon made me cry.

As in.

Oh god my eyes hurt.

They tried too hard to make it similar to the exaggerated artstyle Key uses in their visual novels.

I guess I figured out who made the pretty bad looking Clannad movie. Who made Air's movie though?

I am open to ridicule anything someone makes a topic on. Although I kind of feel bad about it since nobody seems to be responding or discussion, which is something that is afflicting a lot of series-specific topics on CR.

The Air movie was also made by Toei, who I think did the abominable Kanon 2002.

They keep making Key adaptations too, for which I'm not sure why considering Kyoto Animation has pretty much eclipsed them by being a high quality, otaku beloved studio pumping out one hit after another. I guess Toei has access to the Key license and is doing what they can.

I'm waiting for a Little Busters! (I don't know why the required exclamation point) adaptation at least because that appears to be the one title that doesn't have overly romantic qualities compared to everything else Key does.

Or maybe a Planetarian OVA.

I've seen up to the end of the Makoto arc. Watched it with my university's anime club. I wasn't feeling it too much but if it gets better I'll keep going.
Currently trying to go beyond the time.
