Generic Summary: Congratulations! You are one of the 1 in 100,000 people who have been entered in the amazing LIAR GAME TOURNAMENT! Along with the postcard there are 100 million yen in notes. That's the beginning of the Liar Game. When the game ends, in 30 days, you will have to return your 100 million. If your opponent steals them, he can keep them as a prize, and you will have a debt of 100 million... Link: http://www.onemanga.com/Liar_Game/ Liar Game is an ongoing manga and an 11-episode live action drama. Has/does anyone else read/watch this? It's a pretty sweet series. It's about Kanzaki Nao ("foolishly honest girl") and Akiyama Shinichi ("genius swindler") participating in the Liar Game. The art is a little weird, but it gets better as the series goes on, and the series in general also gets better. The games get more interesting and less predictable, and the characters (especially Nao) grow. It's also fun to try and figure out the strategy to win each game yourself. If you want a bit more of a summary... Liar Game is divided into games. In each game the LGT (Liar Game Tournament) gives each player money, has them compete, and then forces each player to return the money given. The players somehow get each other's money, so the people with more money make a profit and those who lose money are left in debt. Spoiler: Game I Spoiler: Game II Spoiler: Game II.V Spoiler: Game III EDIT: Thx ^^ |

Wow! I've never heard of this before but I've started reading it now and it's really good! It appeals to me a lot because of the similarity to playing Mafia. But WOW is that girl dumb. XD I can't stand her. |

Liar Game is actually a pretty fun series. I really dug the premise and the execution works well. |

I'm now up to chapter 29 and my opinion on Nao has changed a bit. ^^ Akiyama's still cooler though. Really interesting idea going on with this story. I like it a lot. |

Regy Rusty wrote: But WOW is that girl dumb. XD I can't stand her. Don't worry, she gets better. And the stupidity is part of her character. Although I'm sure you must've gotten some satisfaction from having her wait over a day with no food or sleep if you can't stand her xD EDIT: Chapter 29? Yeah... I really like chapter 28 xD The chapter's in general also really good in the 40s (where the translators are up to now) EDIT2: Well, thanks to the new speed scanner Vol.5 is already finished! I'm a bit annoyed (is that the right word?) that Game III is taking up 3 volumes while Games I and II and the Revival Round took up 1 each. Oh well. At least with Yokoya they've broken the mold of Akiyama just owning everybody, and you gotta hand it to the author for creating a game that remains new, interesting and exciting for 3 volumes. |

Whoa, Bad Player, this "Liar Game" is freaking awesome! I've read all the way through 51, and was greatly upset when I ran out of chapters to read. Hopefully, more will be translated at a rapid pace. All of the characters are so incredibly interesting; even Nao, the "foolishly honest girl," has surprising character depth as fleshed out in later chapters! The art style, I noticed, seems to have improved a bit from the early chapters, or maybe I've just gotten used to it. (This third game, why is it so much longer than the others? Not that I'm complaining.) |

Where does the drama go up to? I heard that it branches during Game III, but how far after that does it go? The fact that each team's plan is changing every single round is a bit silly tho :P But if the North's plan doesn't work out, thinks won't end will with Fruity! (And I like Fruity. (Fruity is my name for Bandana. (Bandana --> Banana --> Fruit))) |

Yes, I started reading it a little bit ago (thanks to this thread XD) and now I'm officially hooked, lol. I like Nao and Akiyama a lot, for different reasons. At first, I was slightly sad, because I was afraid it would turn into "damsel in distress" for every game, or so. (not that I don't find the fact that Akiyama helping Nao pretty Love it, love it. And is it me, or are the translations coming in quicker? |

Well, Null was doing it first. They have a policy of never releasing chapters out of order. They are also mostly college ppl, so somethings they got mired up in that, so they would have "release streaks". Then someone else came and created Project Liar Game (not to oppose Null; some ppl on a forum were talking about how they wished it was released faster, so he started doing it as his first scanlation project without knowing about Null or that he was "stealing" it from them) who translated it really fast, but then Null caught up and overtook him and got volume 6 done. Then he realized that he kind of stole Null's thunder, so he apologized and decided to quit. Then there was much begging, and he joined up with Null xD So now Null is working on vol 7, and PLG is translating Roots of A(kiyama). So... Yeah. PLG got them out quickly, but hopefully we'll get vol 7 soon. btw, everyone, the Contraband Game(/Arc) is over!! The Yokoya Arc is still going on strong, tho :( But Akiyama face at the point was amazing xD I'm glad the manga-ka broke his own mold of Akiyama just pwning everybody. |

Wow, that's... interesting, lol Well, at least they're coming!BTW, excuse the stupid question, but what is the "Roots of A"? Bad Player wrote: I'm glad the manga-ka broke his own mold of Akiyama just pwning everybody. QFT. When Nao totally pwned Yokoya and and Akiyama thanked her afterwards, I started pumping my fist in the air, lol I'm crazy, don't judge me.

Caelestis wrote: BTW, excuse the stupid question, but what is the "Roots of A"? It's a one shot about Akiyama in college (senior year, I think) and how he gets into psychology. Or something along those lines, at least. It also takes place before the you-know-what that makes him emo, so he's supposed to be all happy or something xD zuddy wrote: it's a lot better than ONE OUTS. Totally =\ I think the guy behind PLG is going to do One Outs after Roots of A, tho (although as long as Liar Game is being done, I don't care :P) Anyway, hopes/predictions? I predict they will own Yokoya in Round IV, but one of his dominance-speeches will resonate with Fukunaga, who gets fed up with being subordinate to Nao and Akiyama and turns on them. (So he does get a fair bit of money from Round IV, but nearly like you-know-who in Round III.) Considering there are basically no women in LG, I want in some round for another woman to be a contestant who has come to the same conclusion as Nao of cooperation. But she's just faking it and is using it as an excuse to get into a position where she can easily come and win everyone's money. (Sort of like you-know-who in Round II.) I would also like Round V or VI to be played before EVERYONE left in the Liar Game. I know the manga-ka would be accused of doing it just to speed the manga along, so he won't do it, but a game where there are 5000 participants and 5 go on would be epic xD (After all, if anyone could do something like that right, it would be this guy :P) EDIT: Although I did feel very bad for Yokoya's mouseys :( I can't even look at that page... D: ... Akiyama's facial expression still made up for it xDD (You know which one I'm talking about... That was probably my favorite moment in the entire series so far xD (Second fav is the end of the Revival Round. Salvation is great, but it shouldn't have taken 6 volumes to own Akiyama)) |

I have always had a strong interest in psychology (part of the reason why I like Akiyama XD). I think this would be interesting to see. Oh, and I felt bad for the mice too. Why!? They didn't do anything to you.... :(Quote: Akiyama's facial expression still made up for it xDD (You know which one I'm talking about... Anyhow, I think this is my favorite, honestly because of the people in the background, lol.Predictions? Hm... ~I agree that somehow Fukunaga (forgot his name, sorry) is going to betray the group, but it will be more spur of the moment (like, Yokoya convinced him, like you said), not planned, I think. But I think he'll redeem himself later, considering he's kinda part of the team, ya know? ~I really think there needs to be another girl. I don't know how trusting Nao will be of her at first, but I think this girl will try to rile up the group somehow... I dunno, I'm sputtering, I apologize. ~I have a feeling Nao's dad is going to come up at one point again... I do kinda feel stupid whenever I read the manga, though. Sometimes the explanations of the stuff goes a little over my head.

Yes, that look :P Well, if the Northern Team hadn't been a bunch of "punks", Nao would've automatically been "OMG let's work together so everyone's saved!" With the woman, Nao would be like "OMG everyone should cooperate!" and the woman would be like, "Yeah, I know!" Obviously, I think Nao's learned enough to not then go "All right! Here's my 100 mil! Go put it in the safety deposit box, 'kay?" but she'll still cooperate with her. And nothing in Liar Game is spur of the moment :P But yeah, Fukunaga probably won't going into Round IV planning to betray Nao and Akiyama. |
